Saunderstown cottage description
Our 1882 cottage has been lovingly cared for with a wonderful shabby chic beach house feel. Recently enhanced by the addition of new living room with fireplace and a master bedroom overlooking Casey Farm. We are just 50 yards from the Narragansett Bay shoreline. In the evening, watch the moon come up over the sparkling lights from the Newport Bridge as you relax on the cozy front porch. We are centrally located to shopping in historical Wickford (5 min.) or Newport with its gourmet restaurants, shopping and famous cliff walk.(15 min.) The cottage backs up to the fields of Casey Farm, a working farm since the 1700's with a bountiful farmer's market weekly. We are steps to Saunderstown Yachtclub, a small friendly club catering to boating, swimming and sailing lessons. We are 15 min from beautiful Narragansett beaches. Bring your kayak and enjoy the Bay or walk to our charming, friendly and active little library just up the hill.

My husband and I were very fortunate that the owners had an "orphan week" between monthly renters and were willing to lease their cottage to us during that time. We truly enjoyed our stay here. The new living room/family room is spacious yet intimate--plenty of seating when my husband's sister and her friend visited us for a few days. The new MBR with king size bed is luxurious and very comfortable and the guest bedroom with queen bed is adorable too. New bedding in both rooms had a nice summery look. Kitchen was well stocked and well organized. Easy for two to share the cooking duties without bumping into each other. Breezes off the bay kept the kitchen cool and comfortable even on warm days. Lovely and spacious dining room--we planned our dinners late so we could enjoy the gorgeous view of the Newport bridge lit up at night while eating dinner. Views from the comfortable porch, where we enjoyed the gentle breezes from the bay, were wonderful too. This home had every amenity we could want. Farmer's Markets at nearby Casey Farm (Tues. and Sat.) were a delight . We enjoyed quiet walks in the lovely and very friendly neighborhood. A short drive took us to two terrific beaches--15-20 minutes away, depending on which beach you choose. Historic Wickford--just 10 minutes north--was adorable and a shopper's delight. We visited Jamestown--just 10 minutes across the bridge for lunch and a little more shopping. Also had lunch on the Newport dinner train (delicious), followed by a very enjoyable sail on Narragansett Bay on the Majestic. Plenty more to see and do in Newport but too little time in a one week stay. Will have to return and will definitely hope to stay in this wonderful cottage again.

My family, with two pre-teen kids visited the cottage for over a month. I must say, this was an extremely enjoyable stay. I wish I could have spent more time in the area. The owners were very helpful leading up to the trip, and were responsive upon our arrival. We moved straight in, and never needed to rely on their assistance, as everything was available. Sightseeing in the area was close enough to allow for long days exploring, while far enough to provide a peaceful place to end the day. The view of the Newport Bridge at night is something we will never forget. The neighborhood is safe and secure, and allows for nice evening walks after dinner. We had many dinners outside while enjoying the yard. Grilling and picnic dinners filled many of our nights as the weather was great during our visit. The first day we arrived, we spotted two deer in the adjacent Casey Farm property. We enjoyed chasing fireflies at night, viewing fireworks on July 4th and chasing the rabbits in the neighborhood. There a few good restaurants in the local area, and a plethora in nearby Newport. The Plum Point Bistro was just up the road, and we recommend reservations for dinner on the weekend. The renovation shown in the pictures reflects the quality of the upgrade. All the amenities were in working order throughout tour stay. The new part of the house blended well with the existing section, preserving the majestic charm of the house. We definitely will consider a return visit, if we are inclined to return to the Rhode Island shore.

Wonderful summer vacation
Wonderful summer vacation
My family and I just finished our summer vacation at this charming cottage in Saunderstown. My two young children loved watching the boats on the bay from their bedroom window, collecting shells on the beach near by and the spacious yard to run around. This house backs up to Casey Farms and my son got huge thrills when the farmer would mow the grass and wave at him! There is the cutest library within walking distance that we frequented often. My husband and I loved the outside patio where we would enjoy a glass of wine and the lights of the Newport Bridge. We stayed a month and absolutely loved each day! The neighborhood is so friendly and is a short drive to Narragansett and Newport ...not that you need to go anywhere! :)

Loving Saunderstown doll house!
This was one of the most charming little jems my husband and I have ever rented! Close to everything, beautiful views and neighborhood, great walking area! So close to some of the best beaches in Rhode Island and lots of great shopping and antiquing. This is an area where will always find something fun to do and the Casey Farm is an added bonus to the area!!! Thank you for our wonderful time, we will be back.
