Richard is an excellent host and his Casita is so welcoming. I was at a conference and it was the perfect get away from meetings and crowds. I love cooking and his kitchen was better equipped than my own. The location is perfect, easy access to everywhere in Albuquerque. Definitely would recommend for a vacation or a work trip. There's a great little market in walking distance too. The neighborhood is so quiet and very safe. I walked around alone at night and felt very comfortable. Richard has put a lot of effort into the style and design of his place, so if you like lots of art and design, you'll appreciate it.

Casa De Siesta stay
Casa De Siesta stay
We had a wonderful time at the Casa De Siesta. Richard has really gone overboard in anticipating anything that guests may want or need. The accommodations exceeded the photos online. The living room area was well set up with different areas to sit in and very comfortable, including the most comfy blanket/throw that I had ever seen. The kitchen had tons of dishes if you chose to cook. My husband was particularly taken with the plastic cover for warming items in the microwave. The bathroom was very nicely decorated. Even robes were provided, which I really appreciated. It had the best first aid kit I had ever seen. The outdoor area was absolutely amazing. So many different places to sit and enjoy the sunshine and decorated with a large variety of things to looks at. Richard has thought of everything to make you feel at home and he respects guests privacy. Of all the places we stayed on our vacation, we kept comparing everything to Richard's place! We felt very safe there. Easy access to Old Town and our favorite restaurant for New Mexican food, Garcia's. I still dream of the green chiles, sopapillas and going back to Richard's casita. We are looking forward to returning when we are able to. Highly recommended!

Hubby and I absolutely loved our stay in this lovely casita. Richards attention to every little detail shows his love for his business. From the luscious chocolate piñon coffee beans, fresh donuts, super plush bath towels and just all the special touches he adds to make sure you feel at home. If you need any ideas on where to go and what to do, he has them. And if you don't feel like leaving this lovely cozy casita, you won't miss out on a thing. All the comforts of home are right here. Enjoy the yard that he has set up just for relaxation. A little bit of heaven on earth. We felt completely safe in this older neighborhood, which is located very close to Old Town ABQ. We can't wait to go back for our private cooking class and perhaps time to truly relax. Thank you Richard for your truly gentlemanly spirit. You are a ROCKSTAR.

Casita sans WIFI
Casita sans WIFI
We would have given this experience a five star except we were unable to connect to WIFI. This is important to me and it was stated in the advertising that it was available. I use WIFI in my travels and I have never had any trouble connecting. The owner was unable to help me. He should get up to speed on how to have his guests connect to make it a truly 5 star for those that desire WIFI.

Owner response: I was saddened to receive my first and hopefully last three star rating out of over 35 - 5 star reviews from guests from all over the country and world...Why? because I have and always go above and beyond for my guests...I offer more amenities than most people who are listed on vrbo. I offer a affordable, safe, private and a clean place for people to stay in and they have always enjoyed themselves, and many have returned three or four times...I love my job of being hospitable to others that is my heart, unfortunately I did not really know that the wifi was that important to these guests...I have never had any other guest complain about the wifi, I understand that notebook devices sometimes they don't work as well with wifi, but lap tops are always fine...??? I have had over 100 guests stay in my Casita and all of them have been more then satisfied with the whole experience, so I apologize to these guests who based there whole stay on wifi versus all the other amenities I supplied...I understand that at times, we can not please everyone...I am only sorry that I was given a rating of 3. When I know in my heart these guests, like all the past, have only experienced a 5 star Casita...I will continue to put my whole heart into my Casita, so the next guest will be even more happy...
Trip to New Mexico
Trip to New Mexico
?We had a wonderful 4 days in this beautiful vacation home. I have never been in a place that was so well equipped and beautifully decorated. I am sure.. if you forgot something... it is there. The backyard is beautiful, quiet and very private. Our host was amazing.. he went out of his way to accommodate our truck with a very large camper. He was extremely helpful in helping us choose a restaurant and things to see and do while in Albuquerque. I think our favorite place was the Mexican Market where you can buy an amazing assortment of fruits and vegetable and the tortillas are freshly made. This is a great place for a getaway for those who don't want the hassle of hotels and restaurants every night. We will be back....

Richard was a very personable host and made my friends and I feel very welcome. The home was beautiful and perfect for the three of us. We really enjoyed the outside area and swing in the evening. The walk to downtown/ the train, and to old town was not far at all and we felt safe the whole time. Thank you again Richard and thank you again for being such a wonderul host.

Casa De Siesta Vacation
Casa De Siesta Vacation
This was our first time staying at Casa De Siesta. It was very comfortable for our 4-week stay in ABQ. Everything was furnished and well maintained. Sleep Number bed was great, plush towels, and even terry robes were provided. Richard is a great host and does his best to make his guests "family". The enchilada cooking class was fun and the food was great. The location is close to Old Town and the Interstate and getting around is easy. The weather was cold so we did not get to enjoy sitting in the courtyard. Maybe next time.

We returned to this wonderful casita for the Thanksgiving holiday this year. We were visiting my daughter and grand-daughter in Albuquerque. We were both very happy to return to this cozy warm casita. Richard, thank you for making the home extra special with all the Thanksgiving decorative touches and of course the wonderful Krispy Kreme donuts, we really enjoyed them. Our stay was great, the casita was immaculate, cozy and warm. We really enjoyed having our Thanksgiving dinner at the casita with my daughter, and grand-daughter, we relaxed outside in the courtyard, while our turkey was in the oven and enjoyed the wonderful Albuquerque weather. My grand-daughter was so happy to once again see "El Burro". Thank you for all you do to make us feel so welcome in your home. We will certainly return to visit you, el burro and of course Oso!!

Lots of space - seating areas, nice TV, fully stocked kitchen and host provided great coffee, nice outdoor area for entertaining, private and secure parking for your car. Beds were comfie and home was very clean and charming. You can't beat this location - short walk to coffee shops, grocery, bike rentals, Old Town - and the price a good value too!

About the owner: MERRY CHRISTMAS AND THANK YOU for visiting my listing #339304. I hope Casa De Siesta LLC fits your needs, and that we can soon meet in person! Hello Future Guest(s), my name is Richard and am a Native New Mexican. My heart's desire is to offer an affordable, safe, and clean rental. And that's what I have achieved! My Casita is 980sqt. of beautiful and comfortable living space created and staged perfectly for you my guests. I live in the front home, on the property, so I am available to assist you if needed, but always respecting your privacy! Look no further you have found a wonderful place to stay when visiting Albuquerque or New Mexico... I have worked in the hospitality industry for over 25 years and I am an award winning Chef and operated my own catering business for over 12 years. Along with managing the Vacation Home, I also have dealt in Antiques and Collectables. My hearts passion is seeing that my guest(s) feel like family and are comfortable in their new surroundings. Being that I personally manage and live on the property, I am only steps away or a phone call away if you need anything. My family has lived in Albuquerque for many generations, and my ancestry is from Spain and France, (of royal descent!), or so they say! (ha, ha). As you will experience, Albuquerque and New Mexico, the Land of Enchantment, is a very special place to visit and live. Our weather is almost perfect, most of the time, with the most beautiful sunsets and mountains. A great asset for you the visitor is that I am very familiar with the City & surrounding areas and am always eager to share ideas and historical information!
Why the Owner Chose Albuquerque:
As you will experience for yourself, the reason why I live in the Historic Downtown District is because it is truly a WONDERFUL PLACE TO LIVE! I enjoy all the rich culture and the diversity of the residents, the homes each with their own personality, nothing like cookie-cutter homes, a beautiful kaleidoscope of Heritage and ethnic flavor. My home is centrally located to most everything. The two freeways I-25 and I-40 are just a few miles from my door step. The Albuquerque International Sunport Airport is a mere 5.5 miles/10 min. drive as well. One big reason I love the Downtown Area is because of it's charm and beautiful architectural designs of the homes and buildings: a combination of Victorian and Southwestern styles. This area is much more settled then most other parts of Albuquerque, the trees are larger and most folige is settled and grows beautifully in the Spring and just shows off during the Summer days! On Weekends the Downtown area is very calm and quiet being that all the workers leave for the weekend. It becomes your own little quiet getaway away from the hustle and bustle of daily work. And I extend a personal invitation for you and your loved one(s) to experience first hand!
The Unique Benefits at this House:
I choose to walk daily for excercise, and the Downtown Historic District is VERY WALK-FRIENDLY and close to many tourist attractions. A few blocks West of the Casa is a neighborhood grocery store, a full-service and self-service Laundromat ( WiFi Free). A Pizza Hut is just across the main street of the Casa as well as Fusion Latin Restaurant a local favorite. A bank and Subway Restaurant about 2 blocks East just a short walk away. Old Town and Route 66 is a 3 min drive, or a 15 min. walk away! It only takes about 25 min. to get to the base of the Sandia Mountains where you will be blown away by the vast beauty of our clear skys and outstanding unobstructed views, and a 45 min. ride to the beautiful and magical city of Santa Fe, N.M., our State Capital.
