This charming, well appointed basement apt. is perfect for a stay in Estes Park. It's clean, comfortable, within walking distance (1/2 block) of town, and a short drive to RMNP. The owner is very accommodating and helpful. We were traveling with two bikes which were kept in the fenced in area outside the condo with complete peace of mind. Estes Park is an outdoor enthusiast's playground with a wealth of things to do, and this apartment provides easy access to all of it. We will definitely be back.

Recommended for: Girls getaway, tourists without a car, age 55+, adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with young children, families with teenagers.

The Downtown Hideaway is located in the heart of downtown. The Downtown Hideaway is located somewhat up and behind a photo shop called "The Images of RMNP." To access the hideaway from this shop go down the hill and turn right at Virginia Street. The Hideaway looks just like the photo and the driveway to the right is rather steep but after we entered the first time we became pros. The Hideaway is a place that we would stay in again. This place is not fancy but it is cozy and everything we needed was available. The free washing machine & dryer which is in the kitchen was a great bonus. The jacuzzi tub in the main bathroom was delightful. The Hideaway has much more room than we needed for two people including an additional bedroom and half bath. The owner met us as we arrived and he is most helpful. He gave us his cell number and he was available if we needed him. There is a space to park 1 car on the property. Everything we needed was within walking distance. A beautiful park often with elk roaming around is only one block away. Walking from the park toward the library we found a Safeway grocery store & cheap Safeway Gas station, The Stanley Hotel, a theater, The Egg & I Restaurant, MacDonald's, etc. along with the Rocky Mountain Visitors Center and free shuttle bus pickup is in this direction. The visitors center is across the street from the Safeway complex. We enjoyed walking thru the interesting community tunnel (this allowed us access to the river walk to & from the visitors center without crossing a busy street) and walking along the river. There are many interesting shops and eateries in town. We enjoyed Penelopes for a great hamburger. We also ate at Twin Owls Steakhouse which is about 1 mile away. The atmosphere & service was great but the steaks were some of the worst we have ever eaten. I wish we had looked at other reviews on the internet prior to us going there. We took the shuttle into Rocky Mountain National Park and once there we hiked around Bear Lake & up to Alberta Falls. This is absolutely beautiful.

Owner response: Thank you so much for your detailed review. We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay. We enjoyed having you. Please come again!

The location is excellent, value was outstanding, overall better than expected. A short walk (about a block) puts you in the heart of the Estes Park scene. Plenty of shopping, plenty of restaurants, and plenty to do. A short drive (10 minutes) puts you into Rocky Mountain National Park. The apartment is in the lower level of the home, but very comfortable and plenty of room for four of us. Great use of a rather unusual space, and having a washer and dryer in the apartment made keeping things in order a breeze. The host is a very pleasant man who is available when needed, but not at all intrusive on your privacy. This location provides the visitor the best of both worlds, close to the beauty of the Rocky Mountains and the convenience of downtown Estes Park.

Could not have asked for a better location, within walking distance to eat, shop, parks and riverwalk. Accommidations were as advertised.

Excellent location, dining and shopping within walking distance. The only negitive thing is that the apartment is in the basement and it isn't completed yet (ceilings).

An unusual place. My biggest problem with this apartment was that it had only 1.5 bathrooms not 2 full bathrooms. I could handle the choppy floor plan and the unfinished ceiling. The space also lacks a place to hang up your clothes; there was a lot of furniture but not all of it was functional in a rental apartment. The only hanging rod in whole apartment was in the broom closet. It would be easy to attach something on back of door to provide hanging space. The bed in main bedroom was wobbly because it was 2 mattresses on top of a boxspring- very unusual. The location of the apartment was great, you could walk to many of the restaurants.

Recommended for: Tourists without a car.

Owner response: Thank you so much for your feed back. We actually have plans to do some re-modeling in the near future, and we will definitely keep your suggestions in mind. I know that lower rates are always appreciated for travelers on a budget. We are glad that you enjoyed the location.

This property is in a very good location, about 1-1/2 block from the main shopping area of Estes Park. Despite being close to the busy street the apartment was very peaceful, a nice place to come back to after a day of hiking or shopping. A privacy fence helps to block the noise and gives an added sense of seclusion. The deck is a wonderful place to rest at the end of the day, great view! With the bedrooms on opposite ends of the apartment they provide privacy and would be great for couples as well as families. There is easy access to the road leading to Rocky Mountain National Park Fall River entrance. Also, easy to bypass the downtown traffic to the Beaver Meadow entrance of RMNP. The Safeway grocery store is nearby. Starbucks, Dairy Queen, Poppy's Pizza and Subway are within walking distance. Short drive to the Other Side Restaurant, which is one of our favorite places to eat. The kitchen could use a few additions which we discussed with the owner. The owner is a very pleasant man who was interested in making our stay comfortable. The apartment was clean and well-kept. If you are wanting a luxurious setting, this is not for you. If you are interested in a clean, comfortable, peaceful place to lay your head at night; at a good price this place would be perfect for you.
