My husband and I came down to DC for a 3-day weekend of mostly just being tourists. We wanted to hit several museums, meet up with a couple friends for meals, and just enjoy being together and away from work. It took me awhile to find something in our price range but I'm so glad I stumbled on this option, a one bedroom short-term lease via Churchill Properties, at the Residences at the Newseum. It's a suite, not a hotel room. It's gorgeous inside, spacious, 1.5 bathrooms (!) and it's nice to have a couch instead of just a chair in a hotel room. The location can't be beat--1 block from the Archives Metro, and easy walking distance from the various Smithsonian museums on the Mall and jillions of restaurants. There's a nice kitchen for making food if you want to keep it cheaper, but no grocery stores close by that I'm aware of. We hit Au Bon Pain, Starbucks, and Cosi for breakfast. The apartment was clean and well-maintained, quiet, comfortable, and other than not seeming to have any cancellation policy available, I have no complaints. (Just ask before you actually reserve.) No car was needed for our trip (you can just take the Metro from Reagan/DCA airport), but they even provide parking below if you need it.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.
