Lena & Anton are remarkable hosts. Both of them were so helpful with information of the surrounding area. The proximity to the Rod Laver stadium for Austrailian Open was one of the easiest journey's I have ever taken. It made the Tennis experince the best. The apartment is modern with beautiful and thoughtful touches that not only made our stay nicer, but also shows how much they care. Lena and Anton keep the apartment spotless, and came in to clean and tidy the apartment everyday (optional). Lena gave us a great list of nearby eateries that included Poppy's for breakfast, Di Bello's for great espresso and lunch, the Auction Room for breakfast and dinner. When it came time to leave Anton made a special effort to drive us to the train station at 6:30am so that we could catch our train. For that we are deeply grateful. And it shows what wonderful hosts they are. To say the least we would recommend friends and relatives to stay there as you couldn't find more wonderful hosts.

Owner response: It is often said that "tennis attracts the nicest people" and this was certainly the case with our honeymooners. It is indeed pleasing to learn that our guests savoured the quality of the restaurants in and around our area in between their tight schedule of attending the Australian Open -and that they appreciated the little touches that we offer as part of staying with us.

My husband & I are retired schoolteachers who love to travel. Our accomodations were not only charming, clean, well-maintained, and safe, but a lovely place from which to base our sightseeing trips (the metro is close and handy to use). Lena & Antone, the owners, are awesome, friendly, and willing to help with any questions/suggestions. We would recommend this small cozy apartment (with a great bathroom) to a couple or individual. By staying here our visit to the Aussie Tennis Open & Hobart Marathon was made even better. Thank you! .

Owner response: It was indeed our pleasure to host our delightful travelers. Our guests were able to attend the Australian Open each day with minimal fuss due to our location as well as fly to Hobart on Sunday to participate in the marathon.Back on Monday to take in the sights of our lovely city of Melbourne in Summer. Thank you for your patronage.

We stayed in the lovely little compact studio for the Melbourne Cup carnival and the location was terrific. It took two minutes to walk to the North Melbourne train station where trains to the city and outer suburbs including Flemington regularly stopped. The location of the accomodation was central to Docklands, the Vic Markets and the train. In the surrounding streets a local pub and coffee shop offered friendly service. Overall it was a low maintenance, cost effective stay for those looking for quiet comfort yet more than a motel room.

Owner response: A real pleasure to meet our Brisbane guests whose busy schedule involved the fun and festivities of the acclaimed international Flemington Racing Carnival. The location of the accomodation offered our guests the advantage of daily ease of travel and proximity to the Flemington racetrack. Dining at the wide variety of eateries and restaurants and relaxing after a full day in the gentle well appointed comfort of our studio capped off their days no doubt!

My husband and I found this little room-with-bath perfect for our needs while in Melbourne for the tennis matches and tourist-ing. It was clean and comfortable (for no more than two, as advertised), and very close to public transportation, which we used all the time. It was also within a few blocks' walking distance of the downtown, the waterfront (think upscale restaurants and outlet malls), and the funky, thoroughly enjoyable neighborhood of North Melbourne--a great place to find good food, an excellent WiFi cafe/bar (and the library, whose WiFi is adequate, but not as good), a coin-op laundry, dry cleaners, and some fine breakfast places. I recommend transportation day passes--the free trolley is fun, but limited in territory, and if you want to go farther afield, the train, trams and buses will be a great help. Didn't use the bikes, but they're easy to find. Lena and Anton are very good hosts; they oriented us well to the area, and gave us good suggestions for places of interest. Check out Victoria Market, take the free tour of Federation Square (it will turn your impression of the architecture from simply weird to brilliant-but-weird), go to St. Kilda on the tram from town. There's a lot to see in and around Melbourne; we spent every day of our week out and about and still didn't cover half of it.

Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway.

Owner response: We are delighted that Sue and Paul used the bedroom/ ensuite location to its best advantage- as a comfortable well appointed base to discover not only our neighbourhood and city but suburbs further afield. The convenience of the station- a stroll form the front door certainly made travel plans easy. The eateries and other facilities in and around the precinct ensure that busy travellers needs are catered to. Harder working tourists would be hard to come across as our guests were up and out every day exploring and tourist-ing- and as always depart with their "to do" lists partly achieved.A pleasure to meet these New Yorkers!

We really liked this place. It was very clean and cozy. At first we thought the location might be out of the way, but soon realized that it is easy walking everywhere and public transit is very easy. We had some fabulouse breakfasts just around the corner. We really liked the Tramzallini cafe. We were out each day all day and loved Melbourne. The Melbourne on foot walking tour is a must and the bike share rentals gets you a bike for $2 for use less than an hour. We went everywhere on bikes. Agreat start to our holiday in Australia.

Owner response: It was a pleasure to be the first port of call in Australia offering accomodation to our charming and discerning guests. We are pleased that our tourists appreciated the level of cleanliness and appointments of our compact cityedge bedroom and ensuite- presented with short stay comfort in mind. West Melbourne is indeed a well kept secret; within walking distance to the city but with the villagey and eclectic Errol St precinct a stroll away- coffee shops, restaurants, wi fi,laundromat, banks, post office and supermarket supplies are all within walking distance. Visible from the front door is the contemporary Nth Melbourne station and hire bikes- all lined up and ready to be saddled to discover Melbourne's charms. We are delighted that our guests did indeed discover some of Melbourne's charms right from their front door!

We stayed in this apartment for 5 nights in September 2011 and loved it! It is a great little apartment-style room with just enough room for one or two people. If you are looking for a place to sleep & shower (not spending a lot of time in the room), then this is great. We were greeted by Lena & Anton warmly. The fruit in the room was great for us while we were out on tours! We used the refrigerator/microwave for sandwiches and simple meals. Eating out in Melbourne is expensive, so having these amenities was helpful! We had to leave very early in the morning for our flights, and Lena helped us arrange taxi service to the airport. The room was tidied up each day while we were away. My husband had hand washed a couple of things & Lena took them to her deck so they would have better drying!! The location is perfect to grab the trains or a 10 minute walk to the city centre free trams. Get out & enjoy Melbourne on foot! If you are planning tours (Great Ocean Road, Yarra Valley Wine, Phillip Island), most of the tour companies have stops at the Miami Hotel on Hawke....just around the corner from the apartment. There are 2 coffee shops within walking distance, but they are only open on weekdays. There is a 24 hour hamburger shop about 2 blocks away....great burgers! If you are a business traveler on a per diem and looking to save some money, this place would be great for you! Just realize that there is not wifi access. But, if that's not a problem for you, I'm certain you will find the hospitality just as we did!

                      Year Purchased: 2005

About the owner: My husband and I have spent our working lives in the building industry and in education. We enjoy shopping by scooter at the Victoria market and selecting fresh, local produce to use in cooking for ourselves, family and friends. Breakfasts by the bay and having coffee around our local area are very enjoyable particularly with the days newspaper at hand .We also like cycling along the Yarra river or taking our bikes on the train across the bay to Williamstown.Theatre productions, art exhibitions as well as sporting events are also activities we appreciate. We would be happy to assist with information for any activities/sightseeing that our guests may require.

                      Why the Owner Chose Melbourne:
We both really appreciated being in the centre of a city when we travelled overseas so when we became empty nesters we decided to move into the city ourselves- downsize our home but upsize our ability to access all the activities that citylife has to offer.

The Unique Benefits at this Townhome:
From our front door we can walk metres to a small corner park , two coffee shops and the Nth Melbourne Station. A 10 minute walk and we are in Docklands and Harbour Town shopping precinct. Airport connections via the shuttle bus are also available minutes away. Its a well located home from which we can attend exhibitions, theatre productions, sports stadiums, restaurants as well as shopping precints and great beaches around the bay. All of these are available using several modes of transport.
