You won’t believe the beauty surrounding you in this 3-bedroom 3-bath near-beach vacation home at 663 East Rocks, on half an acre and just a short walk to beach access #1 or #2 on West Gulf Drive. From the tastefully decorated beachy interior with spectacular views overlooking the lake, to the tropical gardens galore and magnificent southern exposure, caged pool and large spa, you can experience all that Sanibel has to offer.
Relax with the anhingas, egrets and ibises on your very own dock. Enjoy the occasional alligator swimming by, and the osprey nest in the distance. At night listen to the ocean from the sliding doors in the master suite, the spa, or on the spacious wrap-around lanai. Enjoy sun or shade by the pool all day long.
This special home has been a full time private residence and will be offered as a part-time monthly rental from May through January. It is impeccably cared for, with numerous special touches such as cathedral ceiling and skylights, 2 sets of triple sliding doors that fully open to the lanai, 2nd bedroom slider entrance to the lanai, over-sized pool cage, master suite deck, all new carpet and paint, and colorful art.
The gardens are a little wild to give that perfect tropical ambience. The lanai has an attractive antique metal dining set and wicker sofa for your afternoon gatherings. The furniture and beds are extremely comfortable, with new cushions on all chairs and sofas, and newly upholstered dining chairs. There are 2 new hot water heaters for those bath lovers, a new microwave, new pool heater and new air conditioning / heating unit.
Other features include a large living and dining area, 3 separate and private bedroom areas each with its own full bath, one with a king or 2 twins(your choice), and 2 with queen beds (one is a Murphy bed in a room that is combination office/bedroom, with lots of shelves and drawers. This is a stilt home, with 2nd and 3rd floor living. The master suite is on the 3rd floor with a separate lounging area containing a queen sofa bed, designer bathroom, new white louvered furniture and its own deck overlooking the lake. The office/bedroom opens with sliders onto the wrap-around lanai, which overlooks the pool and the lake at the rear of the house toward the south. It has its own full bathroom with pretty green and blue tiles, and a stained glass window. The third bedroom, with all new furniture, white louver-with-wicker accents, has its own full bathroom as well, also with a stained glass window.
Kitchen is fully equipped and is open to the dining and living area for that connected family feel. Guests will have use of half the 2-car garage, the pool accessories, gas grill, beach chairs and umbrellas, 4 bicycles, books, movies, games, 3 wide screen televisions all with cable and digital boxes, 2 DVD players, boom box, wifi and even a stocked utility drawer! Oh, and did I mention how quiet it is here?
Sanibel would take another page to describe, but I will mention that there are 12 miles of pristine beach, bike and walking paths all over the island, Ding Darling Preserve, kayaking and boat tours, lots of restaurants, no streetlights or high-rises. It’s like you stepped back in time, and you’ll wish you never had to go back. Really, everyone feels this way who comes here. We hope you will enjoy this home as much as we do, and will be inspired by the beauty of this tropical treasure called “Sanibel Island”.

I agree with Gary’s review of the property. My wife and I have been vacationing in Sanibel for 10 years and we have been inside many, many rental houses. It is not an average rental property – it is a real home and furnished by the owner with care, including lots of personal touches. The owner’s detailed description and photos of the property are not a realtor’s exaggeration. The house is in a wonderful location. The gardens are carefully planted and the views from the south facing upper rear deck across the pool to the lake provide hours of peaceful relaxation and opportunities for viewing wildlife. Yes, it is a pleasant five plus minutes’ walk to the beach or less by bicycle but the owner does offer the use of a residents car parks pass for the very few spaces provided for them along West Gulf Drive, bordering access to the beaches. Read details of how to obtain the pass in the Welcome binder, which also gives hints and tips about the property, and lots of useful information about Sanibel – the binder is a ‘must read’. The owner and the local agent, Sanibel Holiday, go out of their way to ensure that you have a great stay. In the unlikely event of a problem you can be assured that it will be rectified to your complete satisfaction. My wife and I have just booked for the third year in a row. We were a little reluctant to write a review of the property – we wanted to keep it to ourselves. However, we mustn’t be so selfish. Treat the house with the care and respect it deserves and you will be rewarded with a home away from home and a wonderful vacation. Our family has been visiting Sanibel for many years in the summer months. We love the beaches, fishing and exploring the island. Although this home may not be one of the largest we have stayed in we found it to be one of the most comfortable and best equipped homes. The home is a little walking distance to the beach but we took the bikes down and one person wheeled the cart each time. It was not a bad walk but something families with younger children or seniors should consider. You can tell that this home is not just another rental home with minimal supplies. All the creature comforts plus many others are included. The bikes are better quality, the bed sheets and on and on. The homeowners even supplied us with coffee pods for the one cup coffee maker. This homeowner is very concerned that their renters are well cared for and comfortable. The pool area was great to sit out at night and we used the jacuzzi almost every night after dinner. The layout of the home is very well thought out. We had our family of five and for two nights we had 2 other guests stay and we did not at all feel cramped. I would highly recommend this home to anyone looking for a great home for vacationing on Sanibel.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, pet owners, tourists without a car, families with young children, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

About the owner: My husband and I are part time Sanibel residents since 2008. We fell in love with the island, and each year spend winters here. We are available to help out our guests in any way we can. Please feel free to contact us during your stay.
Why the Owner Chose Private Homes, East Rocks:
Sanibel is a very unique island with something for the whole family. It is a mini-paradise, and we believe there is no place else like it in the US. East Rocks appealed to us because of its serenity and laid back feel. The West Gulf part of the island is relatively sparse, so it is very quiet, and our home is a short walk to the beach, about half a mile through a lovely Sanibel neighborhood.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
663 East Rocks has a unique feel because of its cathedral ceiling, skylights and wide open views onto the lake and pool. It is very airy and feels like you are living outdoors. The lanai has an L-shape that surrounds the pool, and both sides have incredible views. The back of the house and pool area face the south, and you can watch spectacular sunsets from the lanai, pool or gardens. We especially love the wildlife that come to visit our dock and feed in the lake, and the osprey nest in the distance.
