Six bedroom modern two-story house on own grounds, borders the river and Lough Ree lake, sleeps up to 13 people. Garden runs down to riverbank. The house is located about 1 mile (1.6kM) from Athlone town. The spacious open-plan living/ dining room/ kitchen has a wood burning stove. The house also has a separate sitting room, one en-suite shower room and two family bathrooms. Outside is a large South-facing deck with outdoor dining facilities & barbecue. The large garden is bordered by a small wood. Entertainment is provided by indoor & outdoor games and satellite TV.
There are numerous riverside fishing locations nearby. Fishing from your deck-chair at the lakeside or easy available boat-hire. Tie up your boat at the garden. Lots of wildlife on the river & lake. Cruising on the River Shannon & Lough Ree. Walking distance from Athlone town with many activities, shopping & visitor attractions to go to. Many good restaurants in Athlone town.
Several top class 18-hole golf courses nearby. Horse Riding Stables nearby.

I was part of a of multi-generational family who rented the owner's home for a week in April. The home had everything the owner had stated and it was our 'home' base to get acquainted with the local area prior to attending a family wedding. I highly recommend this rental!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers.

A beautiful home owned by extremely helpful people. Set in an idyllic spot on the Shannon River, this home has all the amenities and is very close to Athlone, which is a charming city in the middle of the country.Recommended for: Sightseeing, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, families with young children, girls getaway.

My family and I stayed at this property for a week in June and had a great time. The property was in great shape and was very affordable. The home was clean and in a very private area located about 1.5 miles from downtown Athlone.I look forward to visiting again and will be sure to stay at this property. I would highly recommend this property.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

We were a group of 3 couples who planned day driving trips in Ireland. Anthlone was the perfect central location with easy accessibility to the motorways. The house was very comfortable with lots of areas to have quiet time. The kitchen was well equipped and had good working areas. The owners were very helpful with our pre-planning to Ireland. They were extremely thorough and accessible during our stay. We all would highly recommend this home. It was away from the noise of a city and highways and felt like "home"Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Why the Owner Chose Athlone:
We love the area so much that we had to have a vacation home here. We bought a waterside plot of land and then had this house built to our own design. It is in a beautiful, quiet, secluded place, but it is walking distance to busy Athlone Town. We like to be in the center of Ireland - it is great for touring: 75 minutes from Dublin; 60 minutes from Galway; a little further to County Clare or Sligo. You can even go to Waterford or Cork on a day-trip. The M6 Highway is only one mile away.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
When we arrive at our vacation property, peace and tranquility are waiting for us. It is a very relaxing place. There is a lot of wildlife around: squirrels; birds; rabbits; swans; water-birds etc. The house is very spacious. The second lounge is a TV-free zone where you can read or talk or listen to music.
