Built in the early 1900’s our cabin was once the home of Fred Harman, the late author of the Red Ryder comic books. It is therefore known as the Red Ryder cabin. Nestled in it’s own private cove with nothing but national forest behind it, the cabin has a wonderfully remote feel to it while still being easily accessible to both Wolf Creek ski area and to the town of Pagosa Springs. It is the picture of a quaint little cabin in the woods. When my brother Robert and I (I’m Zac) were looking for a place to buy we wanted something that had character and that is what we found in this little cabin. People who have stayed there have often commented on a kind of magical quality about the place. I know first hand that it somehow promotes really sound sleep – especially if there is rain falling on the metal roof. The interior is unique and cozy. Except for the bathrooms it is fully carpeted which is nice when it is really cold out. There is wood burning stove and a little nook of a loft that kids always seem to like. Just outside the front door is a covered porch with a wood swing that looks down the road to a view of Saddle Mountain in the background. Attached to the porch is a large deck that is nice for eating outside or catching some sun. Behind the cabin is just national forest so it is not uncommon to see an assortment of wildlife.
Just a skip down the road are our neighbors Jeff and Jan who help us look after the place. They are really nice people and can help with anything that is needed, or just provide advice on places to eat or cool things to do. So we hope you come. Rob and I have put a lot of love into the cabin and we hope that everyone who comes and stays will be able to feel that love.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1998
About the owner: Rob and I are brothers who have a zest for life. We grew up in a musical family and still play music together throughout Colorado. We even took a couple of tours through Europe, playing on the streets and pubs. We both love the outdoors and relish in the finer things of life such as friendships and family, good stories, good food and drink, and time to hang out and play.
Why the Owner Chose Pagosa Springs:
In 1998 Rob and I took a trip through the central and south mountains of colorado on a quest to find a place that we could get away to. I remember the first time coming down Wolf Creek pass and stopping at the scenic overlook and thinking that it was one of the most beautiful valleys I had ever seen. We had traveled all through the rockies but when we stumbled onto the cabin we knew this was the place. There was just something about the way it looked that really grabbed us. Then it is close to Wolf Creek and skiing, it is surrounded by national forest and close to town. It really is an ideal location all around.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
I think the location is amazing. It's kind of right in between the ski area and Pagosa springs. I also think that it is unique that you can ski or hike right out the back door.
