The pictures dont even begin to show how lovely this home is. It is not even a house, as much as it is a home. The couple who rents out the cabin in the woods is lovely and adorably eccentric with their charm and hospitality. The house is perfect for families and fun getaways! Definitely a great family adventure during the summer or winter!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.

Don't stay! Cupboards have mouse feces in them and there's old food in the cupboard! Also, there was used personal items in the bathrooms (razors and old pedicure items, half used nail polish). On top of that the dock is full of reeds and algae so you can't swim! Also the furnishings, linens, and effects are outdated and very worn. The house is located off a slew, not really off Lake Pend Oreille proper. I was very disappointed about how unclean and worn down this house was. The only redeeming feature was the nice trees around the house. There are many other houses, that are cheaper, and cleaner with better lake access. Don't waste your money.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

nice house, wonderful town (Sandpoint). The house is as advertised with just a few caveats: "gourmet kitchen" does not include the normal utensils one might expect, of reasonable quality, like pots and pans. those were pathetic. (Though, in fairness, the very nice lady who maintains the house for the owner brought us some of hers for the week.) If you are not into cooking (as I am) this will not be any sort of issue for you. If you are a light sleeper, there are 3 issues, listed in order of increasing importance: nearby rooster which makes rather pathetic attempts at crowing (not significant), freight train nearby (seems to run hourly) which would have been significant if we needed to keep the windows open at night, but it gets very cool there, even on hot days so it didn't matter much, and lastly, only the master bedroom has curtains. All the other bedrooms have early morning sun streaming in through the windows. This was an issue. But, you will notice, we STILL rated the house with 5 stars. All in all, a wonderful week in a beautiful house near the best small town for a summer vacation we have ever found. Highly recommended.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, pet owners, families with young children.

The pictures of this Cottage do not do it justice. There are great views of the tributary feeding into the lake from the kitchen, master bedroom and deck. This place was absolutely huge with lots of space for our two families to relax. Attention to detail was amazing from the owners, and we fell in love with this place as soon as we saw it! The gourmet kitchen was a treat to cook in. A week went by far too quickly, and we left with great memories of the lake and the friendly people of Sandpoint. This property was wonderfully quiet and provided easy docking and access to the lake for our boat. Thank you so much for an incredible experience!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: Thank you ever so much, that means a lot to us. Carla Walker Stone Cottage

Year Purchased: 2005
About the owner: We have lived in many places in the world but chose Sandpoint to begin our retirement. Dale is a retired dentist and we spent close to 25 years working in Africa. Dale is a pilot and found the community of fellow pilots to be most stimulating. We both love the friendliness and genteel character of Sandpoint people to be very refreshing.
Why the Owner Chose Sagle:
We visited the area and fell in love with the beauty and people.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
We have loved the seasons and the quietness of this beautiful location to be very soul satisfying.
