We are back from Casa Aracari a week tomorrow and I have to say, I still have my "tranquillo" head on from the extreme relaxation that was provided at this wonderful home. I was just looking at the photos of the home posted here again and was brought back to the cozy, at home feeling my husband and I had for our 8 night stay. The grounds are immaculately kept by Marvin the gardner with multiple places to be and relax. Hammocks scattered throughout the property provide a tranquil spot to stare at nature, your book or the backs of your eyelids at any time of the day. The day starts in the 2nd floor bedroom which overlooks the beautiful blue ocean. Well, actually it starts at the break of dawn when the howler monkeys announce their movement through the jungle in the very early morning light. I can't believe how we JUMP out of bed to go downstairs and open up the doors leading to the pool and outside to drink coffee and watch and listen to the jungle wake up. (Getting out of bed at 7 at home is torture, right?) We would count the toucans and aracaris til we had no more fingers or toes. The house is very well stocked with everything you need to retreat for hours or a whole day without going anywhere. We took advantage of the barbecue grill a few nights which is a true amenity that no house we have ever rented down here has had. (We are frequent visitors to Uvita and this was by far the most special home we have rented.) I would definitely get the recommended 4x4 as the road is definitely the most adventurous part of the rental. It's worth every bump and turn when you arrive at the paradise that is Casa Aracari.

Casa Acari! What a fabulous place! We have traveled Costa Rica for 12 years, staying in many nice properties. This property is one of the very best! Amazing view of the Whales Tail greets you as you enter the living room looking thru the Glass doors..past the pool to the Pacific Ocean. We knew the journey was going to be special, because on the dirt road to the house,as dusk is settling in, thinking we were lost, a Blue Morph butterfly flew by our car. We stopped to watch it flutter around and one of the locals on an ATV drove by us, stopped and asked us if we were lost. We said we were looking for Casa Acari and she said to follow her. We followed her thru the jungle in darkness and 20 min. later she showed us the gates of Casa Acari! I think without her we would have been lost that night. We woke up the next morning, fresh brewed coffee that was provided and watched the Toucans in trees, as we went for an early morning swim. The house is truly spectacular. The furnishings are awesome with local Tico craft work which are just beautiful. We utilized the Casita which gave both couples complete privacy. The Casita, with its own kitchen and bath is a great set up for those who enjoy there privacy..Our friends were celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary and we gave them the Master Bedroom, with it's amazing balcony views. Our friends had never been to Costa Rica and were totally blown away at the beauty of our setting at Casa Acari. Activities are plentiful..Ziplines at Baru, Sierpe river tours, Cano Island tours, Horseback to the falls at Don Julo's, hanging out at the spectacular sea caves at Ventanas Beach or swimming at the warm , protected waters of the Whales Tail. But nothing beats spending a day just hanging out at the house, buying some just caught Dorado at the fisherman's beach and finishing the night on the BBQ making Dorado with a fresh Mango Chutney. It just doesn't get any better!

Since we had a long way to go from Sweden to Costa Rica, Uvita we where really fussy checking the different houses on homeaway.com After a loooong process carefully checking the houses on the west coast we finally decided to get in contact with Eva to rent her Casa Aracari, and wooow. After travelling around the globe in different places for more than 25 years this was one of two places really superseding our expectations when arriving. The garden, the nature, the house with right equipment the pool, all was more than we expected before coming here with high expectations. Despite being on our own as a family our 6 year old son just loved this vacation On top of all this, the service and all the useful information provided by Eva made life sooo much easier on spot, and also helped us avoid the traps and get the best out of the trip by car from San José to Uvita I can strongly recommend this house to type of family, couples, families with children etc. I was supposed to make a reservation for another 5 weeks this winter, but some other lucky family managed to do that before us,(!!), you will not be disappointed. Eva, Saludos cordiales y hasta luego! La familia Andréasson

Casa Aracari was absolutely stunning. From the front gates to the backyard, this tropical getaway was more than any of us could have asked for. On one side of the yard you are sitting in the brilliantly designed infinity pool with a spectacular view of the "whales tail" and the pacific ocean as well as toucans and aracaris and species of birds I never knew existed! On the other side of the yard you can hang in hammock looking into the mesmerizing rain forest listening to all the sounds and watching howler monkeys, white faced capuchins and squirrel monkeys playing in the trees. We had a blast! For the drive up to the house you will definitely need a 4 wheel drive vehicle due to the rough terrain and steepness of the hill but do not fret, the drive is gorgeous and actually very fun. There is a waterfall half way up that is fun for all ages to get out and cool off before finishing the drive up. The home is one of a kind. Fresh air flowing through the house all day b/c of the vented ceilings, the beautiful tree truck stairway, the plush tropical gardens located throughout the property, the pool and the outdoor shower made this home unforgettable. After staying in Casa Aracari anyone can see that Eva has put her heart and soul into creating something you can get anywhere else! Everyone looking for a vacation rental that makes you feel like you are at home... choose Casa Aracari! We will definitely be back! Again, absolutely stunning!! Thanks Eva!

Casa Aracari surpassed my expectations. This place is dialed in. It is clear that the owners put their live and energy into the creation of this home. The gardens are gorgeous, the pool is sparkling with ocean views. I woke up and had my coffee and breakfast in the pool at the pool table, and then took a shower in the outdoor shower, all with panoramic views of the ocean. We saw so many bird... toucans, and yea aracaris! We also saw and heard the howler monkeys in the mornings. The restaurants near by were great, we loved the coconut mahi at tortilla flats in Dominical. Sofia at the tourist info in Uvita across from BM supermarket set us up with a super fun ATV trip past waterfalls, and a crocodile filled mangrove boat tour! The road requires 4 wheel drive, but it is a fun adventure with a waterfall that you can cool off in right off the road. This place gets an A+ and we will be back!

We stayed 5 weeks in this most beautiful house during June/July 2012. It was very well supplied and the details and care taken made this feel like more than an impersonal rental, it felt like we could live here. The loft up stairs easily fit 3 additional people so don’t let the fact that it’s listed as a 2 bedroom fool you. There are 2 full bathrooms upstairs and a half bath near the kitchen as well as a full bath in the Casita out front making it very comfortable. From the master bed we often watched the electrical storms at night (Rainy season) with awe. Horses sneaked in the yard like dogs. I had to convince a humming bird to get out of the kitchen window…like you would a sparrow. Eva helped us so much to begin to see the nature around us by supplying all kinds of field guides and we used them. By the time we left we were able to spot and identify so many varieties of birds, insects and even monkeys. I never knew just how much you could feel connected to nature. What a wonderful creator we have in Jehovah! This house helped us enjoy it more. Thank you so much! We will always remember our stay with fondness. The Bromiley Family

Eva was such an amazing help in every step of our planning which resulted in an amazing vacation. This house has such a Zen aura that you have to force yourself to leave. We followed all the recommendations forwarded to us from Eva from restaurants to adventures to just taking the time to enjoy the house and its surroundings. Casa Aracari was the first stop for us out of 4 on a trip taken recently for my birthday. The directions that were given to us by Eva and Massi were impeccable. We were able to find the house key at the Coldwell in Dominical and the house pretty well in the dark and in the rain. Yes, the roads are steep and you will definitely want a 4 wheel drive vehicle to get there, but this wasn't a unique thing about this house. We had bumpy roads to all of our houses in Costa Rica. That's just something people should expect if they're going to forego the resort experience (which they should!). The house is gorgeous. Very open, very comfortable, very clean. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking utensils, cups, etc. We ended up cooking several meals here and had no trouble whatsoever. The master bedroom is comfortable and clean and has a gorgeous view. Do be prepared to be woken up by the sounds of the jungle, which is an amazing experience! The pool was fantastic. Very clean and a great temperature. Two of our party slept on the futons in the loft, and said that they were quite comfortable. This was definitely one of my favorite houses on the trip, and I would highly suggest it to anyone! Great guest house for people if you have more in your party. The gardens surrounding the house are beautiful, and we were able to see lots of wildlife just in the front and back yards. Will definitely be staying here if we return to Uvita for Envision Festival. Thanks so much!!!!

Drive was much more involved than I had imagined, but worth it! View and ambience incredible. Definitely a must stay for adclventure and nature lovers. Hard to locate first time up be sure to arrive during daylight hours and allow adequate travel time to climb the hill. Butterflies and hummingbirds abound. Good service.

Unforgettable in every sense of the word! Well designed for your every comfort yet designed to feel close to nature and the raw beauty of Uvita Costa Rica. Perfect to relax on the deck and enjoy the stars in the inky black sky accompanied by the serenade of jungle noises. Loved every minute! Close to every adventure you may seek on your own or with happy, helpful tourist adventure guides. Twice young guides rode with us in our car to an adventure site and they shared local info and insights to the local way of life. We always felt safe in this location. Recommend you don't try the road to Casa Aracari at night just in case your rental car might stall and at night it would be very difficult to back downhill in the dark. If your have a larger SUV this wouldn't happen but we had a small 4x4 SUV which was perfect for 2 people but didn't have alot of horsepower for the climb. Don't let this scare you away from the most beautiful home in an absolutely enchanting location. Discover Casa Aracari for yourself! We usually grilled but did enjoy Citrus in Ojochal and a great little Italian place at North end of Uvita on oceanside of hwy just past the gas station. Highly recommend Bahia Adventures for tours or Dominical Surf Adventures. Nauyaca Falls is an extreme hike in the heat but the Falls are worth it. Reserve ahead for horseback. Coming or Going out of San Jose - Be sure to stay at Grano de Oro Hotel & Restaurant. Worth every penny - don't miss the rooftop jacuzzi. This is a hidden jewel of San Jose - Under-priced Luxury!

We loved this property. Very well thought out with all sorts of amenities. However you MUST have a stick shift 4 wheel drive to get there from Uvita. It takes about 20 minutes. Our 4 wheel drive was an automatic and with 4 passangers plus luggage we barely made it, A stick shift would have made a big difference. Our only complaint was that it was very hot and the over head fans did not provide enough air to cool us off. The living room doors would not open all the way so we couldn't catch a good cross breeze. A simple solution would be to provide a table or floor fan. The master bed room was a delight, but hot at night and a floor fan would have made all the difference. The small guest house had air conditioning, but it was right over the bed so if you turned it off you were too hot and if it was on your head was too cold. Again a table or floor fan would have helped. We were there in early March and were not bothered at all by flies or mosquitos. A real plus!

Wow is the word for this incredibly beautiful home in Uvita CR. It is everything you could possibly want in a Costa Rican vacation rental. The Jungle location has the most amazing view of the whales tale at Balliena National park and the pacific coast line. The owners are so hospitable, they have taken care of every detail to make your stay comfortable yet authentic. The Road is a blast! (my husbands favorite part) unpaved and bumpy but very doable with 4x4, a unique adventure in itself. Each season has a unique road travel experience in all locations of CR. Just use common sense when traveling and enjoy the ride. The home is well stocked with necessities but do pick up groceries/beverages at the store in Uvita. You won't want to leave the mountain for a few days once you arrive as the sights and sounds of wildlife empress you everyday. Toucans, green parrots, howler monkeys, frogs, toads, butterflies and so many more interesting creatures that create this magnificent oasis called Casa Aracari. As others have commented the pool view is the most relaxing place on earth morning, noon or night. We did Qigong on the lawn over looking the vast pacific coast, so uplifting, filled with energy. A very romantic location. The breezes blowing through the home cool you off comfortably day and night. We stayed 10 days and took many day trips to Uvita, Quepos, Ohochal, great restaurants, beaches, activities etc. The people of Costa Rica are so kind and helpful. We will definitely be back to Casa Aracaria an amazing botanical wonder on the central pacific coast of CR. Thank you Eva and Warren for creating a dream environment for all to share a one of kind incredible experience

Our trip to Uvita and Casa Aracari was outstanding! The views from the house are incredible, as well as the house itself. We loved waking up to the sites and sounds of the jungle. The house has everything you need for a very enjoyable stay. We took time from our adventures (ocean kayaking, fishing, waterfall hikes, canopy tour, repelling) to spend time at the pool and soak up some sun. The parrots and toucans were fun to watch, while you listen for the howler monkeys. We also enjoyed the local restaurants, fish market (near Dominical) and Farmers market on Saturday. The road is a bit of a challenge, though well worth it when you arrive at the house, with it's beautiful landscaping and gorgeous interior design. We would love to return to Casa Aracari!

Great house, beautifully appointed with every detail of thought of. This is a good place to be if you like to go to a retreat and stay to enjoy the home. The home includes a separate casita if you have extra guests. Remember to bring groceries for the first few days. When you are told to hire a 4WD this is not optional. Even with a serious 4WD L200 truck, at the end of the wet season the road was sufficiently challenging that it acted as a disincentive to return to the house during the day. Be careful to take what you need for your days out. One day we forgot our snorkel gear and the road made it just too hard to go back to retrieve it as the drive is 20 min each way. Surf and boogie board in Dominical and the reptile zoo in Dominical is fantastic. Corcorvado is amazing. Uvita itself is beautiful – go there to read and sun. The owner is very thoughtful and ready to help you. The property manager is not easy to contact, so do bring a laptop with Skype or a cell phone so you can call in emergencies as there is no landline.

We were fortunate to find an opening at Casa Aricari in early December. Wow! What a beautiful home – every detail for the traveling guest has been thought through. The owners go out of your way to make you feel welcome and comfortable in their tropical paradise. The pool is bliss! The kitchen well thought out. Air flow throughout – no need for A/C! Our favorite space (other than the pool, of course!) was the loft. A total chill out loungy space. On a rainy evening there are many DVD’s and books to hunker down with. The garden is abundant of flowers, attracting butterflies and hummingbirds. The toucans and aricari’s visited as well…This is a dream vacation rental!

My husband and I spent a wonderful, relaxing week here. The house is just what we were looking for: well appointed, private, gorgeous views and just all around fantastic. It was just the two of us but this would be a great value for a family or larger group, especially if you use the casita. We rented an automatic 4x4 and didn't have any problems on the road, although it is an adevneture in itself! I wouldn't recommend driving up to the house in the dark, especially not your first time. We loved the Uvita area as well. Good food and friendly people but plenty of deserted beaches to enjoy.

My wife and I went to cassa aracari for our honeymoon. After a day of travel we were very glad to arrive at the place. The road up was a nice adventure. We didn't realize that the sun set so early and had to drive in the pitch black... in a cloud... The directions were great and we found it just fine! Definitely have a four-wheel drive. When we arrived at the house, we were completely blown away! It was incredible, and as beautiful as the pictures are, they do not do the place justice. The inside was gorgeous and very cozy. The outside garden was equally beautiful and cared for. We had everything we needed for cooking and relaxing. Some days we spent in lounging around the pool and cooking and reading. We heard toucans and heard howler monkeys, but never spotted them. There is a good little grocery store in Uvita, and we were able to do all kinds of cooking with the spices and things they had there, including Asian cooking which I was surprised by. So don't worry about groceries and supplies! And they have a ton of wine and liquor and beers there. Some days we left to go discover the area around. Manuel Anotonio National park was a reasonable drive and although extremely touristy, we avoided the tours and found some nice, rustic hiking and tons of wildlife. Beautiful area. We also hiked to the Nauyaca falls. There is a horseback riding tour that takes all day and is expensive but you can take the foot trail for only $6. Its not the easiest but well worth the view! We really enjoyed Las Madras, the french/thai place in Ojochal. The beaches around Uvita are really beautiful and easily accessible. Right near the base of the mountain is a little waterfall that you can hike to for around a dollar. That was a pretty good time and the little falls were really peaceful. It was nice returning to such an amazing house after every day! We will definitely be going back some day! It was an absolutely amazing trip and a phenomenal house!

Owner response: Thank you San Jose as well as previous reviews. I am myself staying at Casa Aracari at the moment and it is absolutely wonderful. The weather could not be more perfect, the Toucans are visiting us every day and the Howlers were here the first morning to greet us. The pool is amazing and the food we are cooking is gourmet. The garden is improved for the next vacationers at Casa Aracari. It is just lovely. We hope to have you all back one day. Thanks for all the nice reviews. Eva

My girfriend and I stayed at Casa Aracari for a month in July 2011. Being a meticulous planner I contacted many homes and asked many questions and Casa Aracari was definitely a great choice. Driving up to the house the first time was a thrill in of itself; you definitely need a 4X4. The home is beautifully decorated and modern. I had to work while in CR and the USB internet stick at the house got the job done although not very fast (Cant complain too much considering the location of the house). The home is definitely luxurious both inside and out and very comfortable, which is even more impressive because you are literally in the jungle. We were woken up around 5am by the howler monkeys followed by the birds at 5:30. The ocean view and whale's tail is amazing and you never get used to it (even after a month). We saw toucans daily and howlers a few times week in trees in front of the house. Also saw dozens of unique insects and birds around the house. The staff was also great. The gardner Marvin is one of the nicest people we met in Costa Rica. Massi and the property management staff were also responsive and took care of any issues that came up (just email them). The new washer and dryer at the house were very useful. Kitchen was stocked with more conveniences than mine at home. I thought not having an A/C would be an issue for me but the house's altitude and the way it is built makes so you do not need one. The fans in the rooms were more than enough. Pool was clean and refreshing. Lots of places to eat in Uvita although it doesnt look like it from the road. Favorites were chicken and pizza at La Fogata, breakfast at Soda Viajero, and check out NY Deli in Dominical if you get home sick for an amazing philly cheesesteak. Check out Ojochal for French inspired food. The best restaurants were there (Exotica was best meal). Your are about an hour and 15 min from manuel antonio door to door. Def check out the Osa Peninsula to the South for the amazing wildlife. We did encounter many bugs because the house is up in the jungle. We found keeping lights off in the bedroom at night til you are ready to go to bed minimized any inconvenience. Another issue is you may have to stay at home if there is heavy rain because it is difficult to go down the mountain in bad weather. Fortunately that only last a few hours.

Eva and Warren, Casa Aracari is incredible. We loved your house and the location. The house is beautifully designed and built with every attention to detail. High-end appliances and fully equipped; from the kitchen to all the linens one would ever need. The towels and sheets are what you would find in a luxury hotel. The pool was a great relief after a day of exploring, especially with a slight coolness when you first get in. The view from the house and pool is breathtaking. We spent much time just gazing out over the ocean, whale’s tail and jungle. There was a beautiful visitor to the tree in the distance (a black and yellow toucan) surprisingly about the same time each day at lunch that we enjoyed watching from the table. During a short walk down the road we spotted a group of monkeys in a tree. Uvita is a great location that offers many activities and adventures to keep you entertained. The drive up to Casa Aracari the first time seems to be an adventure in itself, but is very typical for Costa Rica and the amazing views and jungle wildlife make it worth it. We definitely give your place a five star rating.

We have rented homes in the US and other countries for vacations many times. This was the best home we have ever rented. The pool was fabulous, the view was magnificent, and the home was well decorated. Our teenagers loved the separate little house as their accommodations. The kitchen had more items and appliances than we do at home. I would recommend this property as a wonderful place to stay.

We stayed at Casa Aracari in mid June (family of 4 with 2 teenagers) and enjoyed our stay there. It was the rainy season so the road up to the property wasn't in the best of shape and rather treacherous by our Florida standards but after a few trips it seemed to get easier to navigate. The house is really spectacularly designed and appointed and we enjoyed cooking a few meals at home. We also really enjoyed the Gecko Restaurant at La Cusinga and Madras which is a french/thai place toward Ojochal. We also enjoyed visiting some of the local waterfalls which were very refreshing. The owners and manager were very helpful and easy to work with. Internet service was available so we could check on our business back home and they had plenty of reading material which we took advantage of. Also had a surprise visit on our last day there...awoke to find a free range horse in the back yard munching on the grass yard. Saw lots of beautiful birds and heard the howler monkeys every morning.

I have been to Costa Rica many times in the past twelve years looking for a place to build a home and retire someday. I must say that Casa Aracari is one of the most beautiful places we have been. The home is very comfortable and very nicly appointed with all the the features that make this house a home.It has fantastic views of the ocean, mountains, rainforest and the rivers. At night, after the sun set on the blue pacific we would sit under the covered outdoor patio and looked at the beautiful stars above and the city lights far below. Seems always a nice breeze there day or night. The house is a very nice temprature all the time because of the altitude. No need for air conditioning there. During the mornings we had a cup of dark Costa Rican coffee with our traditional costa rican breakfast of eggs ,Gallo Pinto, and homemade bread and jam we purchased at the outdoor market on Saturday morning. We enjoyed cooling off in the wonderful swimming pool and watched the Tucans and Monkeys that came to visit. We really liked taking long walks in the area .There are a wide variety of animals and birds that are simply amazing. The people are so friendly. I have truly fallen in love with the area and we have decided to make a home here someday. There are so many things to do here, surfing, swimming, diving at Cano Island and especially the Whale and Dolfin watching. There are plenty of fine resturants and Resort Spa's in the area for those that enjoy a massage or a work out in the gym. Casa Aracari is equipted with every thing you need. The owners have spared no expence in making your stay very comfortable. I know that we will be there again very soon. Pura Vida!!!!! "Pure Life" at it's very best!!!!

"How do you spell Paradise? This is quite simple as it is spelled CASA ARACARI!!! From the time we entered the gates on the property, it was quite evident that we had arrived somewhere very special. The property in itself is nicely secluded without any neighbors being able to see you at play. What makes Casa Aracari so spectacular is the unobstructed panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean, the Whale's Tail and surrounding mountains that you get while lounging in the infinity pool sipping your favorite beverage. There is nothing like listening to the wildlife while you float around the pool or while reading a good book while relaxing on the patio. From an architectural point, the main house has a fabulous design which fits nicely into the property it sits on and takes full advantage of all mother nature can offer. Inside, the house is very tastefully appointed with it's large open concept design and includes some great focal points such as the winding staircase made from a tree. Great for a family getaway! The extra bedroom is the guest house, Casa Coco Loco. It is perfect for a couple looking for some privacy or a getaway. It offers all the amenities including A/C and the best shower we've ever experienced in a guest house. Finally, all we had to do if we needed anything was to pick-up our phone and call the property manager. Massi took great care of us and assisted us the one time we needed his help." Thanks again for the use of your vacation home. We will be back. Best regards, Don and Faye, Canada

We had the good fortune to find Casa Coco Loco available when we needed accomodation while our house was being built. The casita is adjacent to Casa Aracari which was rented to another couple who did not need the additional room of the casita. We stayed for 6 weeks and were thrilled with the comfort, privacy , and facilities offered. Casa coco loco is much smaller than the spectacular main house, but includes a queen size bed, custom bathroom with unique vanity,a more than adequate free standing cupboard and a small but fully functional kitchen with every convenience needed, including fridge, microwave, coffee maker, pots pans dishes and a dining table and chairs to seat 4. Every morning we would sit outside on our private patio and watch the colourful blue morphis butterfly make its daily flight in front of the casita, into the jungle and past us once again. We had the additional good luck to see aracaris ( brilliant coloured toucan like birds) land in a tree right in front of the casita almost daily for about a week - as they ate the freshly ripened fruit. We heard, but were not able to see monkeys in the bush right beside the house - and the howler monkeys serenaded us daily! Casa Aracari and Casa Coco Loco are located almost at the end of a very private road - allowing for complete privacy - yet close enough to other homes that you are not completely isolated Their pool and the views from it are wonderful. We have become "friends" through the internet with the extemely helpful and supportive owners of this spectacular property and look forward to meeting them some day. We would highly recommend this wonderful property and the five star accomodation they provide.

Casa Aracari is a beautifully decorated, new house situated near the top of the coast range near Uvita. It has an outstanding view of the entire Uvita coastline, including the famous Whales's tail. The house was designed to encompass views of the beach, ocean & surrounding rainforest. The house & guesthouse has 4 bathrooms, comfortably sleep 4 (2 queen beds), with additional sleeping for 4, has fully equipped kitchen(bring your own groceries, including staples like oil, fresh salt, drinking water, etc), laundry room, outside shower, hammock, shaded outside lounge chairs for enjoying your favorite book, WiFi, a TV with DVDs to choose from, numerous games, secure, gated entrance. We thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful pool, the openness of the home to the outdoors & beautiful landscaping, the local flora & fauna(howler monkeys, butterflies, hummingbirds, various species of toad & gecko). I would recommend this amazing property to those who want to get away from it all while enjoying all the amenities of home (or more!) They only reason that I would not rate it a 5 star is that the road from Uvita to the house is a challenging drive, even to those used to driving rough backcountry roads. a 4X4 is an absolute necessity. Even so it takes too long, is too bumpy & steep to be convenient to town & all the other activities that are available in the Uvita area. There are two grocery stores in Uvita where you will find everything you need, but be sure to enjoy the local restaurants(all good), walking out to the Whales's Tail during low tide, a snorkeling tour is the water is clear (Carlos, Bahia Adventures), the short hike to the waterfall (on outskirts of town, on road to Casa Aracari) and the horseback ride to Nauyaca Waterfalls. Sonia at the Uvita business center can provide you with info on tours, restaurants, etc.

A heavenly rain forest indeed... Filled with flowers, butterflies and beautiful parrots soaring thru the trees... Staying here was just like being transported into "Avatar" land of amazing natural wonders. "Casa Aracari" was perfectly designed to enjoy this environment while being pampered in luxurious accommodations. It is an incredibly beautiful & comfortable villa with every detail thought of with an artistic eye. Even the dishes and linens were fabulous! I especially enjoyed the lovely touches like the hand painted sink basins in the bathrooms and the custom lounging day beds in the loft that were so relaxing during a rainy afternoon with sounds of rain coming down on the metal roof... I loved every minute of my evening walks with the fireflys and awaking at sunrise to parrots flying across the horizon with soaring views of the pacific. The drive up to the house is a fun adventurous ride complete with a conveniently located road side waterfall to shower under! I will definitely be back... soon I hope and perhaps next time with a car full of groceries, supplies & a stack of books so I will never have leave the leave property... This is a very hard place to leave!!!! I highly recommend this property to any one who expects high standards and loves nature.
