Relax and get to know Paris from your home in the very Parisian 9th Arrondissement. Stay in the Rue des Martyrs neighborhood, described by the NY Times Travel Section as "the spine of a neighborhood that offers magic in a compressed time and space." It's just right "for visitors who prefer to search for the crustiest baguette and perfect melon and cook for themselves. There is no better place to rent an apartment and to pretend, even for a brief time, to live in Paris." (NYTimes)
The Rue des Martyrs neighborhood is just northeast of the Galeries Lafayette department store and southwest of the Basilica Sacre-Couer at Montmartre. It's a traditional market street serving Parisians who live in the neighborhood and work in Paris. Rue des Martyrs and surrounding streets have many restaurants, specialty food shops, and boutiques. Enjoy the quiet and comfort of this residential neighborhood while you explore Paris.
From your flat it's an easy walk (or subway ride) to the charms and vistas of the Montmartre village and Sacre Coeur, or (in the other direction) the elegance of the Place Vendome and the Garnier Opera and the shopping delights of Galleries Lafayette, Le Printemps, and the Grands Boulevards.
Equally close are: Sainte-Trinite, Clichy and the Moulin Rouge, and the Gustave Moreau and 'Vie Romantique' museums. The rest of Paris is easy to reach from the two metro stations very near your flat. The Notre Dame de Lorette and Le Peletier stations have trains direct to the Left Bank, Notre Dame, the Louvre, Place de la Concorde, the Musee d'Orsay, the Madeleine, and all of Paris.
Your flat is on the third floor of a 19th century Hausmann building with elevator and digicode entrance. It is very bright and sunny, with classic high ceilings, marble fireplaces, and French doors that open onto a small balcony that overlooks an attractive elementary school on this very quiet street.
The flat was recently renovated and has:
*A fully equipped modern kitchen
*A spacious living room with dining area
*One bedroom with two twin beds (that combine to 1 queen)
*A marble bathroom with both a tub and a stall shower.
*There is also a separate 1/2 bath with toilet and sink,
*In the living room there is a sofa that sleeps one person.

Within walking distance or a short taxi ride from Gare du Nord, this holiday flat in Rue Milton is the perfect Paris pied a terre. We came for a short city break from London and felt fully immersed in the 'Paris' experience from the moment we opened the door. The heavy oak door, parquet flooring, marble fireplace and double french doors leading out onto elegant cast-iron balconies made us feel as if we were in a black and white French movie (in a good way). The bedroom has a large ensuite bathroom, and the kitchen while small has everything you could need, from salad spinner to coffee maker, with everything else (dishwasher, fridge, washing machine & oven) in good working order. The front room with the high ceilings and period fireplace is charming and we were very happy to find the wi-fi and tv working well (handy as it was the Olympics and we were trying to keep up). But the best thing about the flat is the location, without a doubt. Rue des Martyrs is a shoppers paradise if you're into food and wine, and there are unique one of a kind clothing and handbag boutiques as well. There is an entire shop dedicated to caviar and one to handmade chocolates! Plus, the grandes boulevards of Opera and Galleries Lafayette are just down the road, as well as the beautiful neighourhoods of Abesse and Montmarte - all within walking distance. We would recommend this flat to anyone looking for a fantastic vacation in Paris.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

There are so many wonderful things to say about my ten day experience at this apartment in the Rue des Martyrs area. The apartment is located on a beautiful residential street in a neighborhood that is reminiscent of a Audrey Hepburn movie. There are bread, pastry and cheese shops less than one block away, as well as specialty shops. including a wonderful antiques shop, Flower shop, Greek specialty shop and a fantastic French bath shop in which to buy some luxurious bath salts for the magnificent apartment bathtub! There is a metro stop conveniently located, and the apartment itself is only minutes away from the fabulous Haussemann Blvd shopping. The building has a key code entry and a great elevator. The Apartment is lovely, clean and very comfortable. The kitchen has modern appliances with easy-to- follow instructions conveniently posted. There isn't a microwave, but one is not needed. The oven heats quickly and makes for even more delicious, on the go meals. The wireless is high speed, and was perfect for simultaneously connecting my iPhone and netbook. There are large French doors looking out to the architecturally pleasing neighborhood, including a beautiful elementary school. The breeze from the open doors made my visit extra special, because fresh air is a luxury you do not always have when staying at a hotel. The shower and bath tub are detached, making for luxurious baths in a lovely modern bathroom. The owners take such pride in their apartment and neighborhood, I felt as if they truly wanted me to enjoy my time in Paris. With every question I had about the apartment, neighborhood and sights to see and do, they went above and beyond to share their knowledge of the city they clearly love so much. The Paris based property managers were wonderful and equally responsive to questions. They were always available and I had a peace of mind knowing that they were there should I ever need anything. My choice to stay at this apartment in the Rue des Martyrs area made my visit to Paris even sweeter. For ten days, I was part of a Parisian neighborhood and enjoyed each and every minute of it.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.
