This 1 bedroom apartment has been renovated (Dec. 2010) to a high quality while retaining it’s original classic features -- marble fireplace, oak parquet, high ceilings with moldings, and full-length French windows with dual glass to ensure peace and quiet. It is 44 sq. meters (474 sq ft), and it's ideal location is just a 5 minute walk to the Seine!
The 2nd floor apartment (with new elevator Apr 2013) is well organized and tastefully appointed. The peaceful color scheme and carefully-selected decor creates an inviting feeling of warmth, comfort and luxury. Each room is accessed from the main hallway. The salon is organized into separate areas: living room, dining area and open kitchen.
Living Room--
The living room is furnished with a comfortable sofa (opening to a high-quality queen-size bed) and a tufted ottoman on which to rest your feet or set a drink. Two large Louis XV-style armchairs flank the marble fireplace, creating a cozy conversation area or quiet spot to read, with ample lighting thanks to several lamps and beautiful crystal chandeliers. A flat screen TV with multi-zone DVD player are in a built-in unit, should you wish to catch the news on CNN or watch a favorite DVD from home. An iPod/iPhone speaker/charging dock is tucked away below the TV. A cordless phone with answering machine is provided, and includes free unlimited outgoing calls to over 100 countries, including the US and Canada. A safe is provided for your valuables.
Dining Area--
The weathered oak dining table and Louis XVI-style chairs seat four, and is located adjacent to a large window offering a prime view of the street below. The console table behind the sofa doubles as a computer/work station with plenty of easily accessible electric plugs and good task lighting. High speed wireless internet with unlimited access is provided for your convenience.
Kitchen--
The all new open kitchen is spacious, fully-equipped and a delight to cook in. The major appliances are hidden behind integrated cabinet doors. This kitchen has a large refrigerator/freezer, combination microwave/convection oven, 4 burner ceramic cook top, dishwasher, separate full-sized washing machine and dryer, and ample storage. Coffee maker, toaster, electric kettle, glassware, cutlery, utensils, dishes, pots and pans are furnished. An iron and ironing board are also provided.
Balcony--
Just off the living room is a walk out balcony with table and chairs that affords a birds-eye view over the wide intersection and it’s sidewalk cafés and boulangeries. Relax with a drink or pastry as you observe the changing colors of the sunset, or the bustle below as the neighbors shop, walk their children to school or head off to work.
Bedroom--
The stately bedroom is carpeted and features a wonderfully comfortable King size bed framed by a custom canopy that will make you feel like royalty. Two wall sconces and a crystal chandelier lend light and atmosphere. The bed is flanked by nightstands on each side, with an alarm clock and phone. The window overlooks a quiet courtyard and is draped with curtains to pull back for light or close to assure privacy. An armoire with plenty of hanging space (lots of deluxe wooden hangers) and drawers provides storage for your personal belongings.
Bathroom--
The spacious, modern bathroom features a double sink vanity, WC and a large enclosed shower. The color scheme is darker here – glass and ceramic tiles of medium and dark earth tones make this space feel intimate and sophisticated. Light sconces on the mirror provide perfect lighting for primping, and ceiling spotlights shine down the glass-tiled wall making it sparkle. The heated towel rack assures that the bathroom stays warm and that your towels are always toasty. An opaque window provides ventilation. There is ample space to store your personal items behind the touch-latch mirror and in the drawers and cupboards below the sink. A hair dryer is provided for you.
Security--
Access to the building is controlled by digicode, and a 2nd door accessed by key or interphone adds another layer of security.
Transportation--
The metro station of Cardinal Lemoine (line 10) is literally steps from your front door and quickly takes you to many sights on the Left Bank – the Cluny Museum, Saint Sulpice, Saint Germain des Prés, Le Bon Marché and the Grande Epicerie, the Eiffel Tower, Champ de Mars, Invalides or Musée d’Orsay. Just one block away at the corner of Rue Monge/Rue Navarre is a metro entrance for Place Monge (line 7). This convenient line takes you straight to the Right Bank with direct access to the Marais, Chatalet (where you can transfer to nearly every other metro and RER line), the Louvre, Opera Garnier and points north. The main Place Monge metro station is equipped with escalators (both up and down). Six bus lines crisscross the neighborhood, with bus 47 dropping you right at your front door. Also just a few steps away is a Velib bike station, if you'd like to rent a bike from which to see the city.
Additional Amenities--
Our apartment manager provides many services for your comfort and convenience--personal welcome upon your arrival, concierge service with personalized recommendations, 24 hour emergency number, basic apartment supplies (toilet paper, facial tissue, dishwasher detergent, paper towels, coffee maker filters, salt & pepper, etc.), toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, lotion, soap), high quality linens (plenty of towels, pillows and blankets), and fluffy robes and slippers for use during your stay. Mid-week cleaning is provided for longer stays (clean linens, vacuuming, etc.). They truly think of everything to provide you with a perfect holiday, and all of this is included in the rate -- no extra fees or taxes. Beginning 2012, they will host a weekly evening cocktail reception at their new offices for all their guests.

Bonjour Christophe, Philippe and Marie, I acknowledge and thank you for your email of the 6th November with advice regarding the outgoing inspection of our Allysum apartment. I am glad you were satisfied with the condition in which we left it. Firstly, our stay in Paris was truly enhanced by the lovely abode in which we stayed and congratulations must go to Guest Apartment Services for making this property available. It was perfect for our needs. The decor was delightful with the most charming French flavour and amenities within just right. The location was also excellent with basic daily needs taken care of with the Boulangerie and News Agency directly across the road, the Supermarket two doors up and importantly the Metro station on our doorstep. Please pass on my compliments to the owner of Allysum apartment. We were very aware of the finer touches put in place for our convenience. We really appreciated the many little extras including the wonderful library of guide books on Paris and the hand written notes accompanying them. They were immensely helpful. Please also thank Liliane for arranging for our Seine Dinner Cruise with Califfe. It was a lovely night. The food was excellent, the staff were attentive and we were lucky to have clear skys and a full moon as well! Our Paris visit was a highlight of our 5 week holiday and although 8 days was a generous allowance, we only skimmed the surface of your enchanting City. We fully expect to be back in Paris in the near future. Feel free to include my comments here on your website. With kind regards and best wishes for the future.Did you find this review helpful? The public spaces in the building (entry way, stairs and hallway) could use some work, but the apartment itself is a gem. Beautifully decorated with comfortable furniture. The kitchen and bathrooms are modern, and the bathroom is especially spacious. The bed is a true American king size, and great to sleep in. Great location to walk to many of the destinations you would want to go to, and the closest metro is about 20 feet away. Don't miss the open air market a few blocks away at Place Monge to stock the fridge, or the boulangerie across the street. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. The service from the staff at Guest Apartment Services was outstanding.Recommended for: Age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, tourists without a car.
Owner response: Craig--So happy to hear you enjoyed the apartment and location. One of the big reasons we purchased it was its proximity to the two nearby open air markets and the boulangerie across the street! We've been trying to get the public spaces in the building refreshed, and have learned a lot about how slow things happen with Parisian building syndics! You'll be glad to know the update is finally going to happen in 2013 (along with a brand new elevator), so next time you come you can enjoy the progress! Would love to have you back anytime.

My husband and I were so glad we chose this apartment for our Paris vacation. It is lovely. The apartment was recently remodeled and was spotless. The sofa and chairs are comfortable. The kitchen is easy to use and well supplied. The layout of the apartment makes it seem spacious, yet cozy. The color scheme in the apartment is soothing and restful. A balcony is important to us and was the reason we chose this apartment. It is tiny yet fine for two people. We spent a lot of time, reading, dining and people-watching on the balcony. The street is very busy and a little noisy but interesting. When you go inside though and close the double doors, you can't hear a thing. Carrefour, a major grocery store, is right next door below the apartment. The store looks small from the front but is huge when you go inside. There are two boulangeries right across the street. The #63 bus took us almost everywhere we wanted to go and was more fun than the metro. We highly recommend Paris Walks, a local walking tour company. Several of their tours begin right near the apartment. We also highly recommend the La Grande Galerie d l'Evolution at the entrance of Jardin des Plantes. This apartment is managed by a very good apartment service in Paris. Their owners and staff were excellent and extremely helpful. The owner in the U.S. promptly answered all email and was very friendly and helpful. Although public transport from the airport to the apartment is not difficult, we were very glad we booked the airport transfer offered by the apartment service. It made our arrival comfortable and easy. We used the same service on our return to the airport.Recommended for: Age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, tourists without a car, girls getaway.
Owner response: Sandy--It's so good to hear you and your husband enjoyed the apartment. Sounds like you spent a lot of time sitting on the balcony! It's one of our favorite features, too. Please come back any time!

My husband and I absolutely loved this apartment. We stay in a different arr. each year in Paris and this was our first stay in the 5th. The location was wonderful, metro right across the street, Pantheon just a few blocks and walking distance to most attractions especially our favorite restaurants in the 6th. In the heat of summer, with windows open I imagine it could be a bit loud, but we did not have a problem as we were there when it was not hot so we had no noise at all. The supermarket is right downstairs and one of the best bakeries right across the street. Would stay here again in a heartbeat!!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Upon arriving-- "Bonjour Annette! Well we made it safe and sound and what a wonderful place you have here! We absolutely love it. We were able to go from airport straight to GAS and take care of paperwork. They are so great and couldn't have been more accommodating. We then headed to the apartment. I've been online so much with it that it seems I've been here before. Didn't do much today we were so tired but got our navigo decouverte passes and went shopping next door and had an early dinner and back to apartment early! Again thanks for everything, we'll take good care of your lovely place. Talk later...going to sleep now hopefully!" And upon returning home: "Hi Annette: Thanks for the welcome back. We had a wonderful trip but are so glad to be back to home sweet home. You’re right it was hard to leave Paris because this was probably our last trip there. Again we want to thank you so much for your wonderful apartment. It was just perfect! We found the location ideal with everything you need so close by. We didn't make it to a lot of the restaurants we had booked. We were so tired at the end of the day that we would pick up a sandwich from across the street or pizza or Chinese food one night even. Our favorite bistro’s were Chez Rene and we really loved Brasserie I’ll saint Louis after mass on the island. I also can’t tell you enough about how great Guest Apartment Service was. Christophe Chastel and Christophe Markel bent over backwards with anything we needed. Christophe however could not get the DVD working. He decided it needed to be replaced. He came out the first night and tried to get it going but could not and the next night he brought another DVD from the office. The best part however was he stayed both nights and had 2 or 3 glasses of wine with us and we talked with him about everything. It was really neat and he is such a fine guy. Again thanks for the apartment and all the invaluable information you sent us. It came in so handy. Please stay in touch and have a great trip to Paris in June."Did you find this review helpful? Coming "home" each evening to this spacious, elegant and comfortable apartment enhanced every day of our two week stay in Paris. We were so impressed with the careful and respectful renovation of this one bedroom 18th Century apartment. The VRBO photos accurately show the lovely wall colors, beautiful window treatments, state-of-the-art kitchen appliances, sweet balcony for two, and luxury styled bathroom. We ate many meals here after shopping at the nearby open markets, bakery and butcher shops across the street, and at the full service grocery store one door away. The proximity of the two Metros (along with our "Navigo Decouverte Pass") made our daily excursions and evenings at Sainte Chapell and the Opera Palais Garnier an easy task. We also loved being able to walk to the Pantheon, rue St. Germain des Prés for shopping and cafe sitting, the bridges over the Seine, the fun Mouffetard area, and Luxembourg Park for picnics. This home is all about luxury and location. We shall return.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, tourists without a car, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Pat and Kathy--I am so happy to hear you had a wonderful stay! It warms my heart to know that others enjoy and appreciate our apartment as much as we do. We would love to welcome you again any time!

We stayed at this apartment for a week in June - we highly recommend it to anyone visiting Paris. The apartment is in a great neighborhood, close to fantastic boulangeries, restaurants, and shops. It is also a short walk to Notre-Dame, the Seine, and the St. Germain. A close metro stop makes getting to other Paris sites and neighborhoods quite easy. The apartment itself is very nice, with amenities like a washer/dryer, dishwasher, stove, and microwave/oven. We found the apartment to be very clean with high-quality linens. Staying here really makes you feel like part of Paris!Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, tourists without a car.
Owner response: Eric--Thank you so much for taking the time to post a review and let us know that you enjoyed your stay in our apartment. If the opportunity for another trip to Paris ever arises, we would love it if you would consider renting with us again.

My new bride and I spent our honeymoon in this property between 4 April 2011 and 14 April 2011. We had a fabulous experience in this property and would recommend it to anyone looking for full immersion in a thriving Parisian neighborhood. The concierge service provided by the apartment management went well above our expectations. When one of our checked bags was lost by the airline on the flight from Atlanta, they offered to call the airline for us and arrange delivery to their office, so that we could be out enjoying Paris instead of wasting half a day waiting for the bag to be delivered! They were also invaluable in making dinner reservations for us on two separate occasions. The property was recently renovated in December. The cabinets, upholstery, bed linens and furniture were all in immaculate condition. Our favorite feature was the double vanity in the newly renovated bathroom. The fabulous Latin Quarter neighborhood offers many great bakeries, cheese shops, as well as a few great wine merchants. There is also a grocery store on the same block which we found invaluable for stocking up on few staples for the refrigerator. Another great feature of this property was the brand-new washer and dryer combo. We made good use of both as we could not pack enough clothes for ten days/nights. We are definitely planning on staying in the apartment again in the near future.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 5/5

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2010
About the owner: My husband is an architect who travels to France occasionally for business. When he took me along on a trip to Paris we were hooked and now visit several times a year. It has been a dream of ours to have a place to call our own and to share with friends and fellow Paris lovers.
Why the Owner Chose Paris Arrondissement 5:
We love the charm of the Latin Quarter! This apartment, in a typical 18th century Haussmanian building on Rue Monge at the intersection of Rue Cardinal Lemoine, has such a convenient location and provides the best of both worlds – a traditional neighborhood where Parisians live and work, and a very central position from which to base a stay in Paris.
All shopping necessities are available within a few steps: grocery store, pharmacy, excellent bakeries, a news agent, wine and cheese shops, organic grocer, post office and other fine shops. In addition, two open-air markets are within a short walk – Place Monge and Place Maubert – open on alternating days, making the purchase of fresh produce, flowers and other items possible six days a week. A host of other services, traditional restaurants, cafés, ATM, business center, dry cleaner, hair salons, florists, etc., are all to be found right in the neighborhood.
Transportation options are also very good from here--being right on the line 10 metro and 2 minutes walk to the line 7. Also, there are lots of bus lines nearby to take you practically anywhere, and a Velib' bike rental station just around the corner. Just down the street is a new Autolib' station, where you can rent a fully electric car by the hour!
Best of all, the apartment is located just a 5 minute walk to the Seine for our morning walk! The Pantheon is also 5 minutes away, as is the lively area of Place de la Contrescarpe and rue Mouffetard. Notre Dame or Luxembourg Gardens is an easy 10 minute stroll.
