Amish buggies clip-clop past on the road, and chimes can be heard from a nearby church. This historic structure once housed a cigar factory - and the decor reflects those days gone by. Modern ammenities are included in an I-Pod Docking Station, DVD's, Dream Machines, dishwasher, washer/dryer, central A/C, and stereo. The Carriage House sits on a dead-end road, adjacent to the flower gardens of The Artist's Inn. A short walk will take you to the town park that includes tennnis courts, basketball courts, picnic areas and plenty of space for kite-flying. Kitchen comes complete with your first breakfast and includes home-baked goodies from the inn and a full cookie jar. This vacation rental uses green energy - solar panels on the roof provide the electricity for this historic 200 year old structure.

Why the Owner Chose LancasterWe purchased the Carriage House in 2010, reuniting the property with our inn - another dream come true. This is an undiscovered part of Lancaster County - ten minutess from the Antiques Capital of the USA.
The Unique Benefits at this CondoOur quiet corner of Lancaster County is home to both Amish and old-order Mennonites, so buggies and bicyles are a common site. There's a local produce auction not a mile from the Carriage House - you'll be able to observe (and even buy) farmers and nursery offerings. It's a gardener's paradise as there are 7 local greenhouses located within 5 miles of the inn. Fresh produce is available from nearby farm stands, including several organic farms and cheese producers. Because we are a member of a large local B&B association, we can pass along special coupons and savings for local attractions and restaurants.

Bruce is a colored-pencil artist and I'm an innkeeper. We left corporate jobs 14 years ago to open The Artist's Inn (a bed and breakfast), and never looked back. The Carriage House is located right next door to the inn and the gardens of both blend togeher. We are foodies and love to explore. We can offer great suggestions on local restaurants and also offer culinary tours such as Wine and Cheese, Beer and Pretzzel, Herb, Cajun, Amish and Paranormal.

A Great Getaway for Families with Kids

My husband and three kids (ages 6, 4, and 2) just spent a long weekend at the Carriage House and would definitely return for another visit. We thoroughly enjoyed Jan and Bruce's attention to detail (such as all the fixings for us to prepare a breakfast feast and freshly baked scones waiting for us). We loved eating dinner on the deck and enjoying the views of the beautiful countryside. The Carriage House is perfectly positioned to take advantage of nearby attractions in Lancaster, and we also felt as if we were able to observe authentic Amish culture from the quaint town of Terre Hill.
Recommended for:Romantic getaway, girls getaway, families with young children, sightseeing.

My husband and I just enjoyed our second visit to this beautiful converted carriage house in the lovely town of Terre Hill, PA. The first time we shared the accommodations with another couple, longtime friends. This time we had the 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom residence to ourselves. Either way, this is definitely a comfortable and welcoming place for a vacation. The entire property was extremely clean both inside and out. We had everything we needed including convenient parking and the attention of the owners whenever we had questions. We would definitely recommend this for families, friends, long or short vacations. Jan and Bruce are both very active in the community and have made a point of finding out what attractions, restaurants and activities are within easy traveling distance and are worth recommending. You can always trust their judgement. Make sure to take time to visit the Artist's Inn and Gallery on the same property and see the colored pencil drawings by Bruce. You will be hard pressed not to walk around with a permanent smile. And make sure to check out the cookie jar in the Carriage House. If it's empty, try the pretty blue and white cat cookie jar in the Inn. You will love the treats.
