A real find: a warm and welcoming farmhouse with every comfort and amenity, perched on a hillside meadow looking across to Mount Ascutney. Our neighbours and hosts could not have been more welcoming and friendly. The woodburning stove and central heat combined to make this a cosy base for winter expeditions and stay-home days/evenings. We can only imagine what delights it holds for summer vacations. The combination of beautiful rural Vermont, hills and streams, and the house itself which is sunny, airy, comfortable, clean and capacious for a family (two couples or couple, with adult or non-adult child/ren). The house is beautifully furnished and fully equipped with linen and cooking equipment. Strongly recommended to anyone looking for a well-situated rural getaway and close to Simon Pearce Glass and Quechee as well.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.
Owner response: Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review of your stay with us at the farmhouse over the Christmas New year period. We look forward to your next visit. Spring time is a lovely season to visit Vermont. The property looks completely different to the blanket of white snow during the winter months. Flowering cherry trees and crab apple in full bloom. The vegetable garden may even be tilled and ready for some plantings of vegetables!

My husband and I spent a wonderful month in Vermont at this vacation home. The experience proved a real paradise on earth--much more than we imagined when we envisioned a simple, relaxing summer in the country. Fiona and John are welcoming and responsive hosts, and the home has every comfort and advantage, including fresh morning walks, vivid sunsets, bluebirds, and bee colonies. Beautifully maintained, the home is conveniently located to the towns of Windsor, Woodstock, Hartland, Hanover, and Quechee--all within 10 to 20 minutes drive. We intend to return--often!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+.

My finace and I decided to stay at this lovely little getaway on a whim and I couldn't be more pleased with the accommodation. Even for an off season stay, I must say this was just what we needed to unwind from the city. I would recommend this rental for anyone in search of some peace and quiet and the charm of country living that could only be found in a place like Vermont. Also, the owners, John & Fiona, were very friendly and hospitable making us feel right at home. If you do decided to stay here be sure to visit the quaint town of Woodstock as the little shops and restaurants are hard to beat.Recommended for: People with disabilities, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

We LOVED our stay at the farmhouse!! The home and decor are warm and inviting with lots of character. We felt so cozy and at home. Fiona and John are wonderful hosts and although we genuinely enjoyed their company they were keen to give us our privacy. The location was perfect for us (couples weekend)...20-30 min to Hanover, Queechee, Woodstock,.....and we went to all three!! This wonderful find exceeded our expectations and we can't wait to book another weekend in Windsor!!Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

step into a house filled with wood beams touting their age...gorgeous wood floors covered with tasteful antique rugs...pot belly stove...wonderful bedrooms each with a separate feel and character of their own...a dining room of fine antiques surrounding built in bookshelves... framing lovely window seats where one can sit for hours and gaze onto acres upon acres of breathtaking property...with a jewel of a garden filled with the sweetest heirloom tomatoes...leeks... brussel sprouts...squash...fingerling potatoes...raspberries so amazingly sweet putting even ones from the farmer's market to shame...all of which Fiona and John so graciously grow and share...and not to forget the colorful perennials that we found artfully placed throughout different parts of this fabulous home away from home...or home pretending it was ours is more like it! couldn't have asked for more tranquillity...and all the beauty that comes with having such peace and quiet...along with the pleasure of getting to know two very cool people as Fiona and John so are!Recommended for: Pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

We stayed for four nights in September. There is just one word to sum up our experience: superb! The accommodation, amenities and surroundings were just what we needed: everything is at hand; all needs catered for (including an interesting selection of books- even in the bathroom (e.g. Shakespear's sonnets!!); comfortable beds; great views and visiting deer. Above all, Fiona and John (the owners) are warm, welcoming and friendly. We really enjoyed visiting Woodstock- lots of interesting, cute shops- and Hanover, which has a great bakery and well worth the drive. Just superb!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+.

This quaint little farm house was equipped with everything we needed, including charming decor and comfy beds. We ate all of our meals outside to enjoy the beautiful view. Hummingbirds and chickadees feasted at their feeders while we sat eating. It was a lovely, peaceful setting. The host and hostess live in the adjoining house, and are charming, interesting folks that will leave you in peace or lend an ear, as you desire. We look forward to another stay in this delightful house.Recommended for: Families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+.

Our month long stay at Fiona and John's lovely farmhouse was truly an home away from home experience. Everything we could possibly need was provided, from a well equipped kitchen to fine linens. The ambiance was warm and inviting with antiques and comfortable, well cared for furnishings throughout. We didn't have to leave the property to enjoy wonderful views,a beautiful garden and wonderful walks in the fields and nearby woods. When we wanted to get out and explore we found we were close to many different Vermont experiences; hiking, shopping, antiquing and we were not far from an entrance to the highway for our ventures farther afield. We found our stay to be a perfect blend of quiet solitude that encouraged our creativity and accessibility to towns and activity. For example, Woodstock is an easy drive that we made frequently for it's galleries, restaurants, farmer's market and the Billing's Farm. Best of all were the kind welcome and warm hospitality we received from Fiona and John. We very much enjoyed the property and the location. John and Fiona are gracious hosts and went to great lengths to welcome us and make sure we had everything we needed. The property is updated and beautifully appointed while still retaining the classic Vermont charm of heavy wooden beams in the ceilings and walls and a toasty wood burning stove with a glass cover. The location is tucked in off the beaten path but an easy and scenic 20 minute drive along Vermont's back roads to everything we wanted to do. · By MH from Boston, MA on 10/24/2009 for a stay in 10/1/2009Did you find this review helpful? I fell in love with Fiona Blunden's house, it's beautiful, nicely decorated and very clean, it's like going back in 1900 but with today's facilities, well equiped kitchen, washer and dryer, satellite tv, renovated bathroom.Located on a small hill with a(great)view,if you're looking for tranquility and the impression of beeing away from it all, and yet not too isolated, it's the perfect place. It's not far from the cute city of Woodstock.Fiona and John are adorable, they're helpful and considerate, they live just next to the house but are very discret. They will leave you a usefull list of groceries and places to go. Would I go back?...I WILL go back. More...Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2
