My family spent a week at this amazing home. It is always a bit of a leap of faith when renting a home you have only seen through pictures on a website. We were nothing short of thrilled with this home. First off, the location was perfect. It was a short walk to restaurants, groceries and, best of all, the beach. We have two young children and were thrilled with the beach toys, beach chairs, umbrella and wagon provided by the owners. The outdoor shower was fantastic upon returning from the beach as well. The interior of the home was beautiful and immaculate while still being casual and comfortable. Every amenity that we are accustomed to at home was readily available. And when we had a question, the owner was easy to contact and very pleasant. The kitchen had everything a professional chef could need and the bbq area outside was perfect for dining/drinks. It was luxurious to shower and feel the ocean breeze in the outdoor shower off of the master bath. The separate bungalow provided privacy for our nanny and some quiet time away from our two kiddos. When we return to Solana Beach, there will be no need for us to look for a vacation home - we will be renting this one, assuming some other lucky family hasn't already snatched it up.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers.

My Girlfriend and I took our first weekend away here and it was pretty spectacular. A block from the beach(cliffs and all), a few blocks from some good restaurants, and a nice patio. We stayed up and made dinner on the grill and had s'mores by the fire. Magical. The hosts were so accommodating and the place was clean and so comfy. We will be back.Recommended for: Romantic getaway.

I spent my teen years in Solana Beach and this fabulous house was perfect for recreating those golden summers of my youth. First of all, the house exceeded my expectations. This split level charmer was created with every attention to detail, including speakers in every room. My husband and two teens, as well my cousin, his wife and two teens were able to cook and dine together in a fully stocked cook's kitchen that opens up to huge round dining room table in a dining room that then opens up with 12 foot glass wall with sliding doors to a huge outdoor dining patio and fireplace. We basically spent our time cooking and eating at the house and relaxing on the beach. We were also able have family members from San Diego come to visit and enjoy dinners al fresco. My husband even prepared his famous smoked turkey on the gas grill. I really indulged in the wonderful white master bath trimmed out with bead board and marble. There are his and her sinks with high countertops and a "to die for" corner set soaking tub. The skylight, huge walk-in closet, cozy corner fireplace, two decks and refreshing outdoor shower in the master suite make this a space you wouldn't ever want to leave if the beach weren't just around the corner. The owner provided us with surf gear, beach chairs and tons of beach towels. Although we spent most of our time at Fletcher Cove, less than a block away, we did take advantage of the impressive surround sound system to watch videos of our stay. I fell in love with this place the minute I saw the stacked stone entrance with a curved front porch with a swing and upstairs deck with chaise lounges. The designer touches definitely are a plus! We had an incredible week in this house and the weather definitely was there. We're already talking about next year, and for longer if we can.Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, sightseeing, families with teenagers.
