Everything is just as pictured, and I think one of the best choices in the Cabanas on price, cleanliness and modern ammenities. 4th floor, with elevator, barbecue, on-site laundry, and everything you need to enjoy the Turtle Cove beach below. The unit contains beach chairs, an umbrella, some snorkel gear (the snorkeling isn't bad right in the cove) and beach towels. The kitchen's fully stocked and just as pictured, seems to have been recently updated. In fact, everything is just as pictured. Everything in the unit overall was clean, stocked and ready to go, even though we were a couple of hours early getting there. My wife and I were looking to stay away from the crowded vacation-factory experience in Waikiki, so we opted for the more local experience in Makaha. We ate better and more reasonably by cooking most of our meals at our home away from home. There are plenty of supermarkets close-by if you have a car, which is necessary in Hawaii, though there is a bus if you have loads of time to spend. Still, we were able to get to Hanauma Bay, the North Shore and Kai Lua on the East side, all within about an hour. We got to see whales, swim with a sea turtle and a monk seal joined us for a full day's rest on the beach! And from the start, Wayne was responsive and clear, in taking our reservation deposit, sending a basic contract, and finally detailed instructions on how to get in as well as how to check out. He even followed up regarding the deposit without a word from us. Nice. We got lucky all around this trip; the flight went as scheduled, the rental car reserved as promised, the one night reservation in Waikiki, and finally the trouble-free, and welcoming stay in Wayne's unit in the Makaha Beach Cabanas. I could only hope he'll trade us some day for a stay in CA wine country!

My husband, myself and my niece stayed here from Oct 4-14, 2012 and loved every minute of it. If you want a place away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist traps this is IT! Listening to the waves put you to sleep and then waking up to them is so peaceful and relaxing. Wayne was a great host and gave accurate information to ease our minds as this was our first vrbo and first time to Oahu. You will need a car as most things are farther away then you would expect. Living so close to the locals gave us great access to the local flavors and uncrowded beaches. The beach right outside the condo was never crowded and the lagoons near Disney resort were nice to swim (parking can be a nightmare sometimes) in and had a nice grass area also. The description and photos to the condo were correct even down to the beach goodies. Everything was clean and in working order. We will be back and plan to bring others, Mahalo Wayne

We chose this condo for our first family vacation in several years and we were so happy with our choice. We live in a very large city and our life is quite hectic, so we wanted a location away from crowds so we can relax. The beach and views are gorgeous. The listing photos accurately reflect the condo's appearance and amenities - no surprises. The property is very clean and well maintained, and very secure. The condo has everything you need and the fans and breezes keep the unit comfortable. Wayne was extremely helpful in answering any questions we had. The condo is about an hour away from Honolulu so a car rental is a must. We visited Pearl Harbour and Hanauma Bay and enjoyed both immensely. The rest of the time we spent on the beach, swimming and snorkelling. Our kids loved the sea turtles that swim along the shore. Our kids are 18 & 15 and they thoroughly enjoyed their vacation by the sea. By the end of our week, we were well rested - just what we sought on this vacation - we could not have picked a better rental. We would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a beautiful and peaceful vacation. Should we blessed enough to go back to Oahu, we will definitely choose Wayne's condo again!

We chose Makaha for our honeymoon to be away from the crowds. We chose this listing and it is just as the photos show. The beach is beautiful and listening to the waves every night, priceless. Not to mention the lovely view. There was everything we needed. We enjoyed using the grill 5 of the 7 nights. That saved us from dining out everyday. I was a little concerned about not having air but, we didn't need it. The ceiling fans and breeze (sometimes wind) was enough to keep us comfortable. The drive was not bad to get to our destinations. We went to the Pearl Harbor memorial, Paradise Cove Luau, the Dole Plantation and to Turtle Bay for the Paradise Helicopter ride. We also drove to the east side of the island to take in the sights. Used only 5 gallons of gas all week. We enjoyed our stay at this condo and had no problems with anyone. If we get the opportunity to go back, we would definately stay here again!

I stayed in the condo for a week with my son. The owner, Wayne, was incredibly helpful before and during the booking process, and was happy to answer any questions I had. The condo was exactly as described--clean, fully stocked, and right on the beach. There were straw sand mats, beach chairs, beach towels, canopy, boogie board, snorkel gear--everything and anything you'd want and need for a beach vacation was in the condo. This is the perfect location for someone who is looking for a low-key, relaxing time at the beach who wants to escape the busy, tourist-y spots, though those spots are all within a 45-minute to 1 hour drive (Hanauma Bay, Diamond Head, downtown Honolulu, Pali Lookout, etc.). There is an L&L Drive In 5-10 minutes from the condo, and my son loved the Hawaiian plate lunches. There is also another great beach just a few minutes north of the condo if you want to try another beach. As far as conveniences, there is a grocery store, drug store (like a Rite-Aid), and even a Starbucks just 5-10 minutes south of the condo. Another 15-20 minutes away is a large movie theatre complex, as well as the Paradise Cove luau. We also rented a kayak from Twogood Kayaks (located on the windward side), and had a great time. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this condo to anyone.

My husband and I stayed at the cabana for a week over Christmas. It was our first trip to Hawaii, and we were delighted with our choice of location. After a few days in Waikiki, we were thrilled to get away from the wind, rain, and the hustle and bustle of the city. The white sand beach, known to locals as Turtle Cove, is absolutely beautiful, as depicted in the photos. The cabana was clean, well-stocked, and very comfortable for the two of us. Wayne was very easy to deal with and provided excellent directions on locating and getting into the cabana. We shopped locally for groceries and cooked our own meals in the well-equipped kitchen, so are unable to recommend restaurants. We had a rental car, which I would recommend, as you are not within walking distance of stores or restaurants. With the early check-out time and a late evening flight, the car allowed us to further explore the island, checking out areas we had missed on our earlier excursions. We would be happy to return to this Makaha Beach Cabana, and would definitely recommend it to friends or relatives who are looking for modest accommodation on an absolutley beautiful, sunny beach.

We stayed at the Makaha Beach Cabanas the first week in December. The condo was exactly as shown in the photos and very well equipped. The linens and furnishings were very high quality and the kitchen utensils were most impressive. I frequently travel with knives from home as you never know what you'll find at a rental, but the knives here were especially great. The beach in front of the condo is arguably one of the best on the island! We swam and snorkeled every day and saw lots of turtles. We enjoyed watching the surfers at Makaha Beach Park, one mile north. At the end of the road going north, we hiked out to Ka'ena Point and saw nesting albatross and monk seals. We did enjoy the drive around the island but it was nice to return to the warm and sunny west side. The sunsets are not to be missed! The Waianae area is mostly local residents and there weren't a lot of tourist amenities, but there is a good grocery store, Tamura's, and a Long's Drug which was all we needed as we preferred eating at the condo. If eating out is a priority, there are restaurants and more shopping in Kapolei, a 23 mile drive towards Honolulu. We found the owner Wayne to be very helpful and accommodating. He sent very descriptive directions to the condo from the airport as well as how to get into the unit. The staff at the condo were very friendly and the building is very secure. I heartily recommend this unit for a very enjoyable vacation in the sun!

Wayne has thought of pretty much everything when furnishing this unit. I can't think of one thing that was missing. It was very clean, renovated, comfortable and incredibly well equiped. The pictures are acurate in showing the size, but we were pleasently surprised with the unit inside. I was traveling with my parents and we found the unit easily accomodated us (3 adults). Would definitely recommend the unit to others. The beach is very quiet compared to others on the Island and seems great for young kids. Tips: a rental car is necessary: Get out and explore the Island. Every corner is different and amazing. It took us about 8hrs to (slowly with stops) drive around the Island. Don't skip Kaena State park - reallly nice and close by! ENJOY!

I'm a young woman in my early twenties who stayed at the condo for 2 weeks with my boyfriend. The condo was clean, comfortable and well stocked. Everything is available from beach towels, a cooler, pots, cutlery, a boogie board, Tupperware AND a blender! Very impressed with the condo, right on a magical, beautiful beach. So relaxing, definitely a home away from home. Pictures are very realistic and accurate to how the condo is. Rental owner responded almost immediately to questions and concerns and addressed/accommodated them sufficiently and professionally. We had some technical difficulties with the wireless internet however, there was a Ethernet cable available so we were able to access internet through that. The condo is about 40-45 minutes away from Honolulu depending on traffic, about 45mins-1.5hrs away from Kailua/North Shore area. If you plan on exploring the whole island I would definitely recommend a car rental. However, there are places nearby that facilitate kayak, paddle board, surf, etc. rentals and the surrounding area is lovely enough that you can simply stay stationary. The area of Waianae on Oahu has somewhat of a social stigma/poor reputation but I wouldn't let that dissuade you from staying here. Anywhere you travel you practice safety and competence. Building is very well secure and locals were in fact very kind. The area is absolutely beautiful. An incredible deal for what it is, so if you're on a budget or staying on the island for awhile. I would definitely recommend. Also, there is a Costco and an organic vegetarian/vegan store called Down to Earth about a 20 minute drive away. Hope this helps!
