  My family has enjoyed staying at Grandview for the past ten years. It's the highlight of our summer! Grandview, indeed, lives up to its name with the most magnificent views of Somes Harbor and the mountains of Mt. Desert Island. Wildlife abounds with frequent sightings of deer in the blueberry field, osprey and eagles soaring overhead, and seals and loons in the harbor. The location is perfect. Within minutes you can be hiking or biking in Acadia National Park, browsing the shops in Bar Harbor, attending a show at Acadia Theater, visiting gardens, or eating lobsters on the shore! The house is delightful with a spacious living room with vaulted ceiling and fireplace, three well-appointed bedrooms, two baths, and a great deck. The owners treat us like family and are always available and helpful with property questions and/or Island activity suggestions. We treasure our days in this special spot and our memories of fresh blueberry pies, lobsters on the rocks, kayaking in the Sound, and family hikes and bikes--truly the pure Maine experience!

  Our family has been visiting this property for over 30 years, as both guests and tenants. It is our favorite place to be! We love the seclusion and privacy of Grandview, away from the hustle and bustle of the busier parts of the island. The setting of the house and views of the harbor and mountains are breathtakingly beautiful and serene. Grandview is an attractive, spacious, comfortable, well-furnished and lovingly maintained home, with fabulous views from almost every room. The living room has spectacular high ceilings and a great fireplace, perfect on a chilly evening. The downstairs bedroom shares the same views as the living room, and the king size bed is very comfy! The large deck is where we gather for coffee in the morning or cocktails before dinner -- a wonderful setting! For muffins, pie or just a snack, we gather blueberries in the meadow. After a morning or afternoon of kayaking and canoeing, what could be better than a lobster picnic down at the shore -- lobsters, corn and butter – that’s it! Grandview is very convenient to nearby Acadia National Park, where we walk and cycle on the carriage trails, swim at Echo Lake, hike the mountains, eat popovers at Jordan Pond House, and soak in all of the magnificent scenery everywhere. Mt. Desert is a nature lover's paradise! Grandview is a fabulous vacation spot. You will love it!

  This home was just as described. We felt very much like it was our own, not a rental, because the house is such an easy space to be in.... very very clean ,charming, and comfortable. The perfect balance between being so nice you you have to follow your kids around, and not nice enough, with the dowdy furnishings some rentals have. The views knock your socks off. A surprise was there's so much to do up there, so many options.
