  The place was immaculate, very clean and modern, air conditioned (although I turned it off about half of the time), with an absolutely fully equipped and modern kitchen, three spacious bedrooms with very comfortable beds and beach towels in every room, three full bathrooms complete with turtle towel animals and necessary soaps, a very comfortable living room with a giant flat screen TV plus a stereo system, and a large dining room with a glass table. Matt was very easy to deal with and the property management people were also. This was a perfect spot to just hang out, take a 5-10 minute walk to either Poipu Beach in one direction or the Grand Hyatt in the other. The location was also perfect as a starting point for activities like snorkeling trips from Port Allen Harbor, trips to Waimea canyon, or luaus at the Smiths Family Tropical Gardens. My daughter's family thoroughly enjoyed their week at the condo, and I really enjoyed my 20 days of island aloha. We look forward to returning.

  We loved our stay at Tranquility Base. It was perfect for our family. My adult children joined us for the week we spent here. Each of them were happy to have their own bedroom and bathroom. We enjoyed the easy walk to the beaches. When my husband and I felt we wanted to come home and enjoy the pool, my kids had the freedom of remaining at the beach. They enjoyed taking surfing lessons in front of the nearby Sheraton Hotel. Later they rented a surf board to use for the following days of our week stay. Although we did other activities such as a luau, kayaking and a catamaran trip we still were always happy to return to the condo.

  What a beautiful place! When you walk in you are struck by the bright open airy feel of this home. The gardens that surround the condo seem to be in the very room with you. Everything was so nicely laid out from the bedrooms to the kitchen and all very clean. Matt and Susan have a wonderful place and are so nice to work with. From my conversations and emails with Matt I felt very confident to book with them. They have put a lot of love into their home in Kauai and it shows. I wish I could have met them. The staff at Great Vacation Retreats was so helpful and great to work with too. They are very knowledgeable about the many activities on the island and helped us book a great Na Pali Coast tour. The location of Poipu is great because it makes for easy access to both the West and North side of the island. In this area, Poipu, there is so much to offer, great restaurants, shopping, amazing Resorts (Hyatt) and walking path to two main beaches from the condo. I would definitely return to Tranquility Base on my next trip to Kauai. It really does feel like your home away from home. Thank you for everything, Tanya

  Matt and Susan, You really have a piece of Heaven in your vacation home. This being our second stay at your home, we found it so nice to come back to everything we expected and more. New carpet is wonderful and the new sofa is GREAT! It really does feel like home for us and our 2 daughters. I would have to say that the location of your condo is probably the best one in the entire unit. The pool might as well be our own private pool since it is steps away and no one is ever in it. Being there 8 days we really got a chance to relax and take our vacation slow. My husband brought back about 5 or 6 plumeria cutting that the grounds keeper helped him cut! We do have quite a collection of them and being able to cut your own is the best souvenir. We had an extra one that would not fit so he found a place where the master bedroom lanai over looks and planted the cutting. How cool would that be if it roots and grows! My 4 year old has decided that your home is better than ours and she didn't want to leave! We promised her next year so expect to hear from me soon to make plans. Our highlights were the dozen rainbows we saw, the turtle on Poipu Beach with a rainbow over the ocean behind it (I will send you a picture), Uncle's shave ice almost every evening and simple being in the one place we love to be sharing it with our daughters.   My wife and I just returned from our first ever vacation to Hawaii. We had a GREAT time for 10 days on Kaua’i. The “Garden Isle” it surely is. We’re looking forward to returning some day. It was also our first time to choose a VRBO-type lodging. It was a wonderful experience. We chose 620 Regency 2 in Poipu. Staying on the south side of the island means more sun and less rain. We discovered it rains just about every day on the eastern and northern sides of Kaua’i. There is less rain on the southern and western sides. Poipu and the south side area gets enough rain to keep everything green and lush. When it does rain, it is usually at night or very early in the morning. We never had a day at the beach delayed by rainy weather! After deciding which part of the island to stay on, we were still confronted with many choices. With so many rental options, we were glad we chose 620 Regency 2, which turned out to be a delightful choice. The 3 bedroom condo (the loft upstairs is very cute) is very well maintained, having undergone recent updates. Everything we needed was right there -- washer/dryer, fully stocked kitchen, entertainment center, wifi internet, etc. The owner even kept spare light bulbs so when one burned out we were able to replace it! They’ve thought of everything for the vacationer. And this condo is just a short walk from Poipu Park Beach, which is justifiably rated one of the best beaches in Hawaii. Walk the other way a short distance, and you come to the beautiful strolling grounds of the Grand Hyatt Hotel and Ship Wreck beach, a surfer’s paradise. Though we didn’t know it when we rented, we were pleasantly surprised to discover that 620 Regency seems to have the best view of all the condos in the area. Though you cannot see the ocean, this secluded condo directly overlooks the pool and hot tub which is literally just outside your door. Other nearby condos overlook either Poipu Road or the parking lot. It was wonderful to sit early in the morning out on the lanai (Hawaiian, we learned, for “porch.”) with a cup of coffee and watch the sun rise over the pool. There’s lots to do on Kaua’i and 620 Regency 2 gives you a good home base while you’re doing it. My wife and I look forward to going back and we will definitely want to stay at 620 Regency 2 when we do. We highly recommend it.

  Location and condo were both amazing. Short walk to beach was fine but we drove most days. Condo was well maintained and very beautiful. Only "complaint" was that the pool area was very small and not particularly appealing. This ended up not being a huge issue for us as we just went to the beach each day. Overall this was a marvelous vacation!!

A vacation rental of Regency II, unit 620, is a great choice as we can provide our guests several choices of pools to enjoy. The pool and hot tub right outside Tranquility Base is a quieter, more relaxing pool, perfect for a quiet read, maybe a poolside nap, and great for the family with younger children. There is also the Regency I pool, just about 150 feet away, which was completely renovated in June 2012 and is more spacious. And for families with older children or teenagers, who may prefer a more active pool environment there is the larger Poipu Kai Recreaction Center pool next to the tennis courts, just a couple minutes walk away.   After a long 3-day trek on the incredible Kalalau Trail, we came home to "tranquility base". It was an immaculate condo with beautiful decor. After a hot shower, we relaxed on the balcony overlooking the spa and pool. We spent the next week exploring all of the beautiful beaches, all within walking distance, and saw some of the most beautiful sunsets. This place was a home away from home and had everything we needed to grill out by the pool and have a family night in or walk down the path to have a night out. The spa was a relaxing way to end the evening! This beautifully appointed condo was exactly as described and made for the perfect place to stay while exploring the island. The owners listed recommended places to visit, restaurants to see the sunset, and books to plan all of our activities. We had a wonderful time and would definitely stay here again on our next visit!

  Tranquility Base could not have been any nicer. What a beautiful spacious condo! We felt like we were staying at the Ritz with the nice linens/towels. The kitchen is fully equipped and provided a great option for cooking meals in. The condo overlooks a beautiful pool/spa area that includes a gas barbecue. It is very peaceful with great views. There are beaches in both directions... a 5 minute walk to Shipwreck Beach and the Hyatt, and a 5 minute walk to Poipu beaches . We loved our Kauai trip. This island has lots to offer - hiking, kayaking, water sports, beautiful beaches, great restaurants, and more.... We highly recommend this condo to others, and hope to return some day.

  We enjoyed our Poipu stay immensely at Tranquility Base (a fitting name--quiet and beautiful!). We had everything we needed, from plenty of room to a fully equipped kitchen. You could tell real chefs own the place. Lots of light and the view of the community pool and Poipu Greenbelt was expansive. You really feel comfortable on the 2nd floor in a corner unit with no one in front of you. And the sea breezes flowing through the many windows--heavenly! For families, the pool was right there, in full view from the lanai. Yet, it was surprisingly quiet, almost like our own private getaway. One of the most impressive things about the condo is its location, only a short 5 minute walk to the Grand Hyatt property (its stunning beauty, restaurants/bars and cliff walk) and Shipwreck Beach in one direction and a 5 minute walk to the #1 beach in all of Hawaii in the other (Poipu Beach). We were also happy to enjoy the drier weather of Poipu. Easy access to the rest of Kauai but with the best weather on the island. We will definitely come back!

  We stayed here prior to spending several days at the Marriott. This condo is very nicely furnished (granite countertops, large flat screen tv etc.), and the grounds are meticuously cared for Although not on the beach, only a 5 minute walk to Poipu which is good for swimming and snorkeling with lots of good restaurants around the area. We much preferred staying at this rental than the Marriott. Newer, obviously much more room. Its nice to have a full kitchen that is fully appointed to eat which ever meals in that you wish. The poipu location is also much nicer than Lihue
