The High Country Lodge has it all. I have been in CO for 13 years and have always hosted mountain weekend getaways for large groups of friends from all over the country, and this place was top notch. So much so, that every other house we have ever rented now pales in comparison. It seemed expensive at first, but for 22 people, it wasn't expensive at all. And all 22 people had a bed and slept well every night. Even the kiddos went undisturbed. The bedrooms were great and the living room and kitchen were homey and inviting too. It's an old rustic feel rather than a high end condo feel for sure but with tons of room. So much room that we literally had two parties going, one on each floor--one more mellow and one more high energy. Whether you are looking for a family get away with a large family and you need "space" at times or you are looking to host a reunion among friends, you will do no better than the High Country Lodge. Patrick was great and there to help with every request we had. Looking to make everyone happy? Book HCL. You will not be disappointed.

Family Reunion, August 2010

Our family held a reunion at High Country Lodge for five days and it accomodated 12 adults and 10 children without difficulty. Each family was able to have its own accomodations that allowed for privacy and space for all concerned. The kitchen and other facilities were more than adequate and we never felt cramped or crowded. The owners were a pleasure to work with and made the process of arranging the stay and checking in and out quite simple. Pleant to do at the Lodge and nearby in Breckenridge for the children (ages 11-6 mo) and the adults either joined them, hiked on their own, or enjoyed the Lodge and its surroundings. We plan to return.

This place was truely amazing! We had 30+ people staying with us, and never felt crowded! The layout allows for privacy for individuals or sub-groups, yet lets the entire group get together when desired. The large open field in back was great for glow-in-the-dark frisbee, and the deck fantastic for watching the stars! While the hot tub was a bit on the small side, we were able to fit 7 in at one time! The property was well maintained, and everything worked. Patrick and Petra were great hosts, and their catering was scrumptious! If you have a large family or group of friends who are looking to have some together time, you couldn't find a better place. The North wing made a great private hang-out for the young members of our crew. The beds are comfortable, the place is clean, and the views are stupendous! We had several sightings of Moose, deer and even a fox. The entire group repeatedly commented on what an amazing place it is. I have no problem recommending it to anyone! I would recommend you bring your own music system, as the system provided is pretty inadequate.

Daughter's Perfect Wedding

We rented the Lodge for our oldest daughter's wedding and it was PERFECT!!!. The families of both bride and groom were able to stay together for 5 wonderful days in the spacious and comfortable lodge. There was plenty of room for 21 people, including a 1 yr. old, to gather together for an intimate evening around the fire or to go to your room and have quiet time. We had several 20 something year olds and never heard them while we were sleeping. Patrick catered our rehearsal dinner, the wedding appetizers and sit down dinner, and a brunch the morning after the wedding. The food was fantastic and was beautifully presented. Also, thanks to Petra as well for all of her help with the wedding set-up. We would love to return for a reunion of both families and would recommend the lodge to anyone who ask.

We chose High Country Lodge for our small, 38-person wedding and could not have asked for a more perfect place. We had room for our families and best friends to spend the whole weekend with us; lots of nooks and sitting areas for people to hang out together; a great game room; a kitchen that allowed several people to be cooking at the same time, and a gorgeous family-style dining table that seated over a dozen people and got comments from everyone! The rooms were cozy, warm and inviting; we loved our King suite with its private balcony and mountain view. Most of all, the owners were a true pleasure to work with - very generous, very accommodating, and very helpful with every detail. We were so sad to have to leave after three beautiful days in this magical location. If we ever have another occasion to bring a large group of people together in the mountains we will definitely come back to this lodge!

Yearly Family Reunion

Every year our large family reunites in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. We've experience a variety of accomodations, but it wasn't until we found this home "The High Country Lodge" that we looked no further. We count the days and look forward to our return every year to this beautiful private home. The floor plan offers many opportunities for privacy, even with a large family. The house has many things to offer such as large group parking accomodations, endless open private space for the kids to burn energy, a large deck with the grill of all grills and beautiful views, horseshoe pits, deck top hot tub, and a bathroom around every corner. The home has a remote feeling, but ends up being only minutes from a grocery store and local town. Working with the owners of the home is comfortable and they are always accomodating. If you're looking to accomodate a large group, this is the place to be.
