Bamboozle!

Guest: MerchNow (United States)
Date of Stay: 05/17/12 Review Submitted: 05/22/12

A group of us stayed at the central house for the Bamboozle 2012 festival, and could not be more grateful we were able to stay at such a lovely place. We were able to sleep everyone comfortably, had no issues whatsoever with finding the location, or checking in. The owner was incredibly helpful with the complete rental process, and was on location for our arrival. Property was clean, well maintained, and just as described! Was within walking distance of the festival which came in handy for the long days/nights. We would highly recommend staying here if you're in the area!

Family Reunion

Guest: Cathy (Pleasanton, CA)
Date of Stay: 07/23/11 Review Submitted: 10/20/11

This house was perfect for our family reunion (27 people). It is two blocks from the beach (awesome location) and everyone got to have their own bedroom. The property was clean and well maintained and the owner was awesome for information. The kids loved the location to the ice cream store (2 blocks) and main st (two blocks). The pictures are very accurate of each room and having two refridgerators was sooooo helpful with 27 people! I would totally recommend this house...Comes with beach chairs, beach passes, beach umbrellas, boogie boards, and sand toys! All you need is great weather to make this house part of your perfect vacation!

Owner response:Oh, I'd say it was me who reaped the benefits of such a lovely and respectful group! I'm so glad you enjoyed your vacation back in the Grove.

EVERYTIME MY GIRLFRIEND AND I WOULD GO TO OG IT WOULD BE JEN'S PLACE OR NO PLACE. WE FELL IN LOVE WITH THE QUAINT LITTLE HOME IMMEDIATELY AND FELT LIKE IT WAS ALSO OUR HOME. THE PLACE WAS ABSOLUTELY SPOTLESS. I WAS SADDENED TO HEAR THAT JEN WOULD NOT CONTINUE WITH HER ESTABLISHMENT AS I WAS ALWAYS EXTREMELY COMFORTABLE AND NOT LET'S FORGET HAPPY BEING THERE. I HAVE WONDERFUL MEMORIES THAT I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO DUPLICATE. IT WAS MY FIRST VACATION TO OG THAT MADE ME FALL IN LOVE WITH IT

Owner response:Oh Nancy, that was so very, very kind! Believe me, I do miss the guests, like you and JoAnne that made the work load bearable. I miss those treasured moments as well. New families are now making their own memories by having the whole in to themselves. They are overwhelmingly happy to all be under one roof for their family reunions. So, the Central Avenue House is still doing its thing....making memories, one family at a time!

Perfect place for a family reunion!

Guest: Judy (Old Bridge, New Jersey)
Date of Stay: 07/03/11 Review Submitted: 11/29/11

Fifteen members of our extended family spent a week at the Central Avenue House. We ranged in age from three to 67. It was great to have a homey and impecably kept place where cousins of two generations could gather from two countries in Scandinavia and three states in the U.S. We were able to cook and eat together, perching on sofas and around tables -- much nicer than trying to shout the length of a restaurant table. There was enough hanging-out space that our newly- weds could go off on their own, our contemplatives could read on the airy porches, while our teens hiked to shows in Asbury Park and our three-year-old zipped down the boardwalk on his trike to a playground. I hope we can come back! Judy

Owner response:Judy, you and your family were so delightful and you were all so gracious to me when I lost my great grandmom's tree in that storm! I enjoyed your family and your company very much. See you again!

MY FAVORITE PLACE AT THE BEACH!!

Guest: katy (Summit, NJ)
Date of Stay: 05/09/11 Review Submitted: 05/10/11

We have been going to this hotel for years now - as overnight guests with just a room or renting the entire hotel for large party girls weekend each September. This year we plan to rent the hotel out for a WEEK and bring our family AND friends. It is a warm and friendly spot to vacation - within three blocks of everything.. beach, town, restaurants and bars (asbury park)! Ample accomodations for reunions- with so many bedrooms, each with their own sink - shared bathrooms but works out great as there are many. Rooms are comfy and quaint. Two front porches offer cozy spots for reading or games or happy hour! We love visiting Central Avenue House for one night, for a weekend or this year FOR A WEEK!! Can't wait!!!

We rent this hotel out for a weekend every year - perfect ladies weekend!! 12-14 of us spend the weekend at the beach, on the boardwalk, in town and in Asbury Park at night.... restaurants, bars, night life- and perfect shore town atmosphere. Central Avenue house offers gracious accomodations with private rooms (with sinks) and shared bathrooms - plenty of room for large parties. Guest kitchen provides ample space for our snacks and drinks and coffee and breakfast goodies. EVERYTHING you could want is no more than 3 blocks away..... PERFECT location!! Perfect getaway!! This year my family is renting the hotel for a week!!! Can't wait!!!

Owner response:Thanks Katy! Our Flea Market weekends are always the highlight of my summer and I'm so glad you've chosen to share the Central Avenue House with your family. And this year, you, and any group have the whole apartment with its complete kitchen as well - enjoy!

My first pick for an Ocean Grove experience!!!!!!

Guest: Jenine (New Jersey)
Date of Stay: 04/02/11 Review Submitted: 05/16/11

I rented out Jennifer's Inn for a bachelorette weekend and wow was it the perfect choice for our party! The bride was completely surprised and delighted to have all her best friends together in one spot in her favorite place in the world - the Jersey Shore. We had gals fly, drive, and train in. One even took the bus from Philly and it was so easy. The Central Avenue House gave us what we needed: private bedrooms but with lots of common space and common kitchens - and two porches as well! We could nosh and hang out at our leisure but also just wander around Ocean Grove and into Asbury Park. We never used a car the whole time we were there! It was such an affordable and fun weekend that one of the girls is renting the Central Avenue House out this summer for a family reunion. With the beach, the town, and Asbury Park all within a few blocks, this rental could not have been better for us.

Owner response:Hey lady! Yes, that weekend was such a blast - your kind invite to drop in for some libation and stories brought me a lot of satisfaction to see you women having such a wonderful time, cheers!

Very delightful Ambiance in Welcoming Victorian

Guest: Kay (Morristown, NJ)
Date of Stay: 10/01/10 Review Submitted: 10/03/11

For 5 or more years, I have enjoyed historic Ocean Grove from Central Ave. house. It's about 2 blocks to the beach, a great ice cream store, the lovely Methodist auditorium and other stores. For longer walks, the boardwalk along the ocean is a great way to get to Bradley Beach or the delightful restaurants and Indie movie theater of Asbury Park. It's very well-kept and clean B&B, with loaner beach chairs, etc. The first floor porch and the more private second floor porch are both breezy and private.

Charming and convenient

The Central Ave House has a charming old-fashioned boardinghouse ambiance while being extremely convenient for today's visitors. It's location is ideal, close to everything (but not noisy). You can park your car and walk/bike almost everywhere. It is warm and welcoming and you are made to feel at home. The owner is delightful. The house is attractively furnished and decorated, kept very clean, and stocked with information on local amenities. It's a lot like staying with friends with a Shore house. I particularly liked the outdoor "shower", for rinsing off the salt and sand! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place for family, friends, or groups looking for a retreat location. I think it would be a fun place for a knitting or other handcraft retreat! There are two porches for sitting out on when ready to come off the beach.

Owner response:I am humbled by your kind words and I've been blessed that my family has been able to offer others a welcome retreat for a vacation get-away! I

Very homey and confortable. The rooms are nicely decorated and the living room and porches are great for sitting and relaxing. Great location - only two blocks from everything. Can walk to beach, town for shopping and restaurants, the Auditorium and Asbury Park.

Owner response:Thanks Fran! It's been my pleasure having you and your family stay at the Central Avenue House over the years.

Central Avenue House

Guest: Sandy (Shippensburg, Pennsylvania)
Date of Stay: 07/09/10 Review Submitted: 07/06/11

Central Avenue House is absolutely my favorite place to stay in Ocean Grove. The entire house is beautifully decorated and well maintained. The owner has always been an excellent hostess. She runs a clean, well organized establishment, and is consistently helpful to all her guests. The inn is in an excellent location. It is only a short walk to the beach, and the restaurants and shops along Main Avenue, as well as the Great Auditorium with its many services, concerts, and activities. My friends and I have enjoyed being in Ocean Grove and staying at Central Avenue House for many, many years. It is, indeed, a home away from home.

Warm & cozy home away from home

Guest: Jeneba (Brooklyn, NY)
Date of Stay: 07/02/10 Review Submitted: 05/09/11

I have been coming back to Central Avenue House for years because of its relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Guests are encouraged to really think of the inn as their second home and the place is filled with charming little details such as family photos that make you feel right at home. The clientele is also very diverse and I never felt the least bit out of place, not being a Christian, as I have in other inns in Ocean Grove. The property is clean and well maintained without being at all fussy and it's very close to the beach and the center of town.

Owner response:And Jeneba, it is guests like you that brought me such joy to have been your innkeeper!
