Book Now 4best Vacation Home on Davis Canal:Pier Walk 2 Beach
- Minimum stay:7 nights

- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:No
We are sorry to announce to our wonderful guest that we will not be renting this summer (2013) at all. I have tried to change our calendar to no avail. Sorry for any inconvenience. Thank you. Your very own gem of a tree-house with pier (on Davis Canal), sink on pier, outdoor shower and four decks on the house that give you a view of the Davis Canal. Built on pilings our home is a 7-10 minute walk to the ocean and beach. Two porches on the first level, entrance porch with covered entranceway and glider + 2 rocking charis and a screened porch and glider and table with six chairs welcomes you to the first floor. The first floor has 2 bedrooms, one queen bed and one full bed, a full bath with two sinks and a shower, washer and dryer, a quiet place to read or play games and, of course, the large screened-in porch. Climb up the stairs and you enter the tree-tops - one room for internet access (via wireless), games and reading (with linens and beach towels provided) - a fully equipped kitchen with dining area - TV area with cable and DVD and music - full bath with one sink - and, of course, two more porches. This high up you do not have to worry about the mosquitoes. One porch has a hammock for two and a small table with umbrella and two chairs, perfect for relaxing. The other porch has dining table for 4 to 6 and table with chairs for two - morning coffee and paper.
Oak Island does have public boat access. You can kayak and fish from our dock (we are an estuary and you will need to be conscious of the tides). The pay for play golf club is a quick drive from the house. We are within a 7-10 minute walk to the beach and an easy walk or bike ride to the community center, library, coffee house, and grocery store. Just up the street and around the corner is a shop where you can rent bikes and kayaks. Southport and Bald Head Island are close by, as is Wilmington. Our home is surrounded by trees and very peaceful, while everything is so close. At night you can watch the stars as you listen to the ocean.
Our home is perfect for two couples - parents with children who like sharing a bed-room and bed (children need to be over the age of 6 as stairs are slick and slippery), fishermen, honeymooners (no matter your age), friends and empty nestors. Just completed in October 2010 this will be the second summer with guest. We do use our home and I have asthma and an older daughter has allergies so ABSOLUTELY NO PETS and NO SMOKING ANYWHERE ON OUR PROPERTY. I hate this part and we really do mean it. NO PETS and NO SMOKING and if we discover that you have a pet or have smoked, you will forfeit the time you have left and there will be no refund for your remaining time. We will also charge you $250 for breaking your agreement.
We have a 7 day minimum - 800.00 a week. N0 security deposit (your rental includes linens and cleaning). Check only for rent - (check must have cleared before rental week). If there is a mandated hurricane evacuation we will give you a refund - NO refund for NO Shows or just plain bad weather.
High Season - May 23 to September 11
Come and relax and enjoy our home. We look forward to hearing from you, Molly

The pictures do not do this house justice. It is very beautiful and spacious. The design was so well thought out, everything has been thought of and provided. The furnishings, decor, and overall feel of the house is new, clean, comfy, and relaxing. The beds are more comfortable than my own! We had a hard time deciding which deck to sit on and enjoy the breeze, breakfast, dinner, drinks, etc. We spent a lot of time at the beach during the day and then on the dock in the evenings fishing and catching blue crab. My 8 year old son loved this part the best! We did not keep the crabs, but it was so fun and educational to catch them with some chicken and a net. We also brough kayaks that we were able to easly put in and out of the canal right there on the property. Spend many evenings looking at the beautiful herrings as they fly or walk up the canal. I loved the bathrooms, especially the large garden tub upstairs with the sky light. Oak Island is our special family vacation destination, and we hope to be able to stay at this house each summer. I wish I lived there!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers.
Owner response: We love it when people love our home. Thank you and so glad it worked. Molly

The location of this property to the beach is excellent while still giving so much privacy. It is surrounded by tree's and the canal which gives the impression of total seclusion. The home is well appointed and tasteful so you definitely get the feeling of having entered someone's private home not a condo or hotel, in fact, you feel like you are a homeowner for a week. All items needed were found and some we never thought of or expected like suntan lotion. Basically we felt as if we were staying in a friends home. The house is beautiful...great value and great location. You won't go wrong here.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

We really enjoyed our stay at this rental earlier in the month. The house is well appointed and extremely peaceful. We saw several Blue Herons and Snowy Egrets from the dock, a wonderful way to start or end your day. It is a very quick walk to the beach, which was also wonderful. Oak Island, and this rental, gives a very different experience from many of the Outer Banks Islands because it feels quieter and less touristy- you get all of the positives of great beaches, seafood and atmosphere, without the negative of large crowds. The house was as great as advertised and was very comfortable to stay in, it was very clean and had everything we needed for a great weekend. There is a good seafood shop on the island and grocery stores and other amenities are not far.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, adventure seekers.
