The Preserve is only a short walk from our property and covers over 475 acres of salt marsh, tidal creeks, and over 2 miles of Chesapeake Bay beachfront. The Preserve is free and open to the public year round. Walk along the beach about a mile and you will reach the historical landmark ruins of Back River Lighthouse. It was built in 1829 for $4250 and stood for 127 years before being completely destroyed by a hurricane in 1956.
