This is a totally renovated beautiful cottage, in a secluded wooded setting on 3.7 acres, with Catskill Mountain views from one of the highest points in the area. The surrounding oak forest is the oldest in the Town of Rhinebeck. In a rural but not isolated setting, the cottage is only eight minutes from charming Rhinebeck Village with its antique stores, fine restaurants, local movie theatre, and many shops, and it is only fifteen minutes from the Amtrak station. It's also an easy ten-minute drive to the Omega Institute and ideal for those who want to attend Omega events but prefer their own housing. The large living room, with cozy brick fireplace, opens onto a spacious Adirondack-style screened porch, which could serve as a sleeping porch. The bedroom has a bay window that looks out to the mountains and woods; it opens onto the screened porch through French doors with charming French lace curtains. The living room sofa converts to the world's most comfortable queen-sized sofa bed. The front porch has Adirondack chairs and the deck on the side of the cottage is perfect for sunset drinks. Star-gazing is great from the deck. A beautiful swing hangs from a great oak tree in front. The cottage has a flat-screen (satellite) TV and DVD player in the living room, and a TV/DVD player in the bedroom, and it has wireless internet service. It is air-conditioned and has a washer and dryer. The small kitchen is fully equipped, including dishwasher and microwave. The full bathroom has a tub/shower and a skylight. Access is easy from both the Taconic Parkway and the New York Thruway. The cottage is available for the three summer months, by the month ($2350) or for the season ($6950). Also available for Presidents Day, Memorial Day, and Labor Day Weekends, as well as Bard and Vassar commencement weekends, for $225 per night (3-night minimum); non-holiday weekends (2-night minimum), for $200 per night. For Thanksgiving and Christmas/New Year's vacation periods, as well as winter/spring longer rentals, contact owner for rates. All rentals include a cleaning fee, $100 for weekend rentals and $150 for longer rentals.

Landed in cottage, with wonderful support, including being met at train, to find ourselves in magic space suspended in a white flurry. We were snowed in our first night, happy by the fire; following morning we see the mountains in beautiful light. From sparkling mornings to languid sunsets, we thoroughly loved our stay in this exquisite cottage. Linda Pollak

We rented the cottage for four months in the winter (January - April 2012) as a weekend retreat away from New York City. My husband and I looked forward to coming to Rhinebeck every Friday night to sit by the fire and relax. The cottage is impeccably well maintained and well equipped with everything that you need - washer/dryer, kitchen with dishwasher and microwave and a working fireplace. It even has an enclosed patio for summer lounging and al fresco dining but we didn't make much use of it in the winter. If there were any issues with the cottage, the owners promptly responded and took care of everything. The cottage is a stone's throw from the main village of Rhinebeck. There are many restaurants we enjoyed with very high quality food. We never felt like we compromised on our lifestyle during the weekends because we were able to dine just as well in Rhinebeck as in the City. The neighboring villages were also fun to explore, especially the antique shops in Red Hook. If you needed to do some regular shopping, we just crossed the river to Kingston and found every big box retailer that we needed (e.g. Home Depot, Bed Bad and Beyond, Walmart etc.). We had a wonderful time during our stay in the cottage and would highly recommend staying here any time of year. Our winter was much more enjoyable and bearable for us this year because of it. We had such a great experience at the cottage during the winter months that we decided to buy our own house in a nearby village just so we can enjoy the surroundings all year long!

I spent a month in this cottage, a mixture of vacation and work, and the setting was perfect for both. The cottage is just lovely, designed to exploit its beautiful surrounding. The screened in porch provides views of only nature, yet you are a quick drive into Rhinebeck. Peaceful without being too isolated.

The listing for this property does not do this cottage justice. It is clean, in a great location, wonderful views of the Catskills and in the absolute middle of great fall folliage. The host has a unbelieveable attention to detail and his knowledge of the Hudson Valley Region is second to none. All vistors should be so lucky as to have a host like him. There is great food in the area. I would recommend The Inn at Rhinebeck ,The Terrapin and The Culinary Institute of America,( try the Itatalian resturant; be sure and make reservations ahead).Visit all of the old mansions and museums your time will allow. I would recommend starting with host's recommendations first. I would recommend this cottage highly. We had a great week here in early October.

You will not be disappointed by this truly beautiful and artistically renovated cottage. It exudes instant tranquility and spaciousness. The woods are an extension of the environment. Everything you might need is at your fingertips. And it is easy to move from the sweet protection of the trees to the liveliness and artistry of the town of Rhinebeck. Our stay was a total pleasure.

We have been renting various properties for years, and never have we had more considerate and accommodating landlords. The house is in PERFECT condition and the area is beautiful and convenient. Anything we needed the wonderful owners were right on top of things. Mostly they just anticipated things we didn't even think we needed. All that, and yet they were utterly considerate of our privacy. It was a beautiful haven with great views. With the huge screened-in porch looking over the woods with the Catskills in the distance, I felt like I was living in a very luxurious treehouse. We would be going back ourselves but for our own circumstances and are vaguely envious of future renters!
