Rating: 5/5 Beautiful, quiet, serene. A wonderful place to get away from it all. No cell reception, which adds to the far away feeling, but land line didn't work, which could be safety concern for some.Recommended for: Romantic getaway.

We rented Loran's Cabin for 3 nights as a last minute change of plans. My wife and I are from just outside the Portland metro area, and we had plans with dear friends from San Jose, CA., to catch up, do some hiking, some sightseeing, and share some good Northwest wine. Our original plans were for the Sisters area, but had to be changed due to the wildfires in that area. I found Loran's Cabin on VRBO, and I'm so glad I did. It was just PERFECT for this extended weekend get-together. The location is amazing ... assuming you love big trees and rushing water as much as we do. The cabin is old of course, but very well maintained. The same is true for some of the furnishings. But that is part of its rustic charm. It's also worth noting that I use the term 'rustic' somewhat hesitantly. The cabin has the look and feel of a backwoods cabin, but with all the necessary modern amenities (i.e. plumbing, kitchen with garbage disposal, heaters, etc.). So if you don't mind sharing a single bathroom downstairs with two small bedrooms upstairs, this is a great place. As a home base for a few days of sightseeing and hiking on Mt. Hood, we couldn't have asked for a better option. Mixing in a bit of wine tasting in Hood River, cooking together, and drinking some great wine on the large flat deck overlooking the small but rushing Zigzag River, and Loran's Cabin made for just exactly the getaway that we all needed ... making it hard to go back to normal life. Thank you for offering this special place as a rental.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing, romantic getaway.

Fantastic Place! This cabin was better than I expected. The location was superb! 5 of us went and it accommodated us all very nicely. And my dog loved it there! It's nice to fine a place where I can take my "best friend." The river running right through the property was so relaxing and just the vacation I was looking for. The cabin is rustic and beautiful, yet also updated with all the amenities you need, great kitchen, claw foot bathtub/shower was awesome! It was stocked very well with everything you need, just bring food! Thank you for a fantastic time. I hope to make a yearly trip here. I would love to go in the winter also but don't know if I could make it down the road in the snow as the road down to the cabin is hard to maneuver but it is so worth it. Anyone going in the winter just be careful of the road down. I can't say enough great things about this cabin. It was perfect and very relaxing and just awesome overall. I could not have asked for a better location and it was close to everything, Timberline, Trillium Lake, Clear Lake, Government Camp are all close by and yet very secluded and beautiful location. A great place and we had a great time! Thank you to the staff for making it such a great experience! I recommend renting kayaks or bring your own if you have them and kayaking on Clear Lake. Trillium Lake on weekends is very crowded so we went to Clear Lake and it was great!Recommended for: Pet owners, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

My friends and I rented Loran's cabin expecting it to be, as a previous reviewer had put it, "rustic." We were imagining a tiny cabin with leaking faucets and a rickety staircase. Well, we were in for a pleasant surprise. The cabin's facilities seemed sparkling new, the bathroom was beautiful, and the living room was huge! The upstairs is very comfortable and cozy as well. We kept laughing that someone thought it was "rustic!" The cabin does take a rather long time to heat up, but this wasn't a problem. You can always sit in the hot tub while you wait! We would love to come back.Recommended for: Pet owners, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.
