This lovely cottage is located in the quaint village of Salmon Creek Beach. It is a quiet, secluded, peaceful sanctuary, yet only 55 miles from the sophisticated city of San Francisco and one mile north of Bodega Bay.
The finely appointed cottage is well suited for one or two couples, or a small family - each of the 2 bedrooms has a queen bed. The cottage is filled with attractive, comfortable furniture, primarily made by the custom woodworker/owner. The living room is filled with light and views. The master bedroom has a sleep number mattress so you can find your sleep groove. All linens are provided with extra towels for the beach, the hot tub or a sandy dog.
The North Sonoma coast is beautiful and relaxing. You don't need to leave the village at all - but if you do, you'll find something for everyone.
The beach is just down the street - explore the tide pools and the dunes, fly kites, build sandcastles or just walk for miles collecting sea glass and sand dollars. Hiking trails are nearby. There are quaint villages, shops and galleries filled with local arts and crafts, excellent restaurants, wineries and tasting rooms. Enjoy world class golfing, surfing and GREAT bird watching.
When you return, enjoy the adirondacks in the yard or curl up in front of the stove with a good book. Sigh.
Since we are 13-year area residents, we can save you time, money and culinary assault. Just access our guest book or call for recommendations in advance.

I wanted a nice way to start my retirement. This was the perfect place to celebrate. This review is being written afer a fantistic day walking north coast beaches, dining in wonderful restaurants and now relaxing in the cottage. We are sitting in front of the fire place listening to a great collection of jazz music. This was the perfect weekend, so perfect we can't wait come back soon.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, pet owners.

What a wonderful home in an incredible setting. Everything was absolutely perfect and I wouldn't change a thing. The setting was quiet, yet located close to everything we wanted to do during our stay. Next time we're in Bodega Bay, we know where we're staying.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car.

I am happy to give my highest recommendation to Sharon and Craig's cottage along Salmon Creek. My parents and I spent four wonderful October days in this cottage located in a pristine location. Our little dog Liesl was in tow and seemed as content as we were. There was plenty of wildlife activity happening in and along the creek to keep all our curious eyes busy. The cottage lends not only to great walks along the beach, located within just a few walking minutes, but is also the perfect location to explore all that the Sonoma Coast has to offer visitors. We were so pleased - this being our first experience renting on VRBO - to have everything we could possibly need available to us in the cottage. The cottage was spotless, nicely furnished, and full of little gadgets that made packing beach picnics a snap. The bathrooms were fully stocked with soaps, cotton balls, etc. The kitchen drawers were filled with everything from pots and pans to Ziploc baggies and Tupperware. The cottage offers an ambiance second to none. So if you are looking for a place to head to get away from it all, enjoy nature and just relax - you've found your destination. Sharon is a very attentive host who clearly wants to ensure that visitors enjoy there stay and she has done an amazing job of organizing everything in the cottage from kitchenware to linens to information about connecting to the WIFI or finding the perfect beach or perfect restaurant for lunch. Thank you!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, pet owners.

We stayed here for a week with our two grown daughters and my daughter’s dog, Cooper. I can’t recommend this cottage enough! Sharon made us feel so welcome and we loved being part of a funky California beach community. The layout is perfect with comfortable beds, a modern bathroom, convenient hot tub, as well as the charm of the original cabin architecture. The cottage is both dog friendly and immaculate. We’ve used VRBO for years, staying in homes and condos from Vancouver BC to the Big Island of Hawaii, and this is one of the best equipped rentals we’ve stayed in. The house is on the Salmon River estuary so if you enjoy bird watching this is for you. We went for a morning walk along the river and found deer tracks, coyote tracks—which looked to be following the deer—as well as rabbit and what might have been river otter. I’d recommend this outing for families with young children. The ocean beach is a short walk away, beautiful, and perfect for families. Dogs are not allowed, but we found beautiful beaches just a short drive away.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners.

I just wanted to take the opportunity to write how much we enjoyed our recent stay at Sharon and Craig's lovely cottage. My fiance booked the trip for my birthday weekend along with another couple. We were very impressed when we arrived by the amount of space and the well equipped kitchen (great coffee, gourmet vinegars and oils, spices, cookware, etc. The wood burning fireplace and views of the creek made us feel very cozy, as were the super comfy beds. We slept in the master, and the other couple staying with us commented that they had a great nights sleep in the second bedroom as well. Sharon was exetremely hospitible, easy to work with, and made sure we were enjoying our stay and that we had all we needed at the cottage. As far as location, it was fabulous. We walked to the gorgeous beach in 3 minutes. Put our feet in the ocean and then could return for a nice soak in the hot tube. It was a very serene place to be. We also took a 40 minute drive to the Tomales Bay Oyster Co. for a picnic and oyster shucking, very fun! We are already talking about planning a return visit and have been commenting all week about how we miss our "happy place" as we now refer to Craig and Sharon's cottage!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners.

My husband and I just spent a quiet, restful week in Sharon and Craig's lovely cottage in Salmon Creek @ Bodega Bay. The amenities are so numerous, it's difficult to name them, but here goes: Beautiful views from all windows (&windows are new), Craig's gorgeous furniture and woodwork, quick walk to the Pacific Ocean beach, well equipped and stocked kitchen with fine olive oils, vinegars & many spices, great music/TV system, tasteful artwork & accessories, large bathroom w/ heated floors and TWO large sinks & huge shower with very pretty glass tile work, good Weber Grill, large washer/dryer & all soaps, etc., drinking water jug cooler, cool clocks everywhere, HOT water(new tankless water heater), interesting books in library, Sleep Number bed w/ great bedding----just a classy, comfortable place to be. They've thought of everything. Plus I had the privilege of feeding Blondie, the cat, and I totally fell in love. Also Sharon's list of restaurants, grocery stores, etc., was invaluable. If we could go back to 210 Bean Ave. tomorrow, it wouldn't be soon enough.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners.

This cute cottage offers scenic, unobstructed views from the house and yard. You can see the ocean waves, Salmon creek and field. The amenities are more than anyone could ask for, hot tub, views, stars at night, heated bathroom floors, great cookware, extra supplies for your dog(if you should bring one), spices, teas, coffee, everything there to please. The owners fine woodworking skills are on display throughout the house. The cottage is spotless and well cared for. This review is long overdue, but still meaningful. This cottage was the perfect get-a-way for our family last August. We needed a little vacation before the start of our little one's school, and we are so glad we found this place. The house is cozy, clean, comfortable and well appointed. The location is perfect. We really enjoyed our very early morning walks to the beach during low tide to collect sand dollars and shells and admire all the wonderful starfish. These walks were followed by sipping coffee and hot chocolate in the hot tub while the sun broke through the morning fog. Nice walks in the afternoon back to the beach for more relaxation and kite flying. The location worked well, even for the avid golfer in our family. He ventured out for an early tee time and was back by 11 am! We really only headed out occasionally for a nice dinner, but otherwise we just cooked at "home". Our daughter loved this place and speaks of it often. Sharon was super to work with and called to check up on us when we arrived.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, tourists without a car.

From the well supplied kitchen (muffin tins, cake pans, mixing bowls, toaster, blender, coffeemaker, varying pots and pans, full sets of dishes, silverware, glasses, even spices!...) to the sleep number bed, cozy linens and soft towels... we were SO relaxed and comfortable here. It felt like being home. But an even better home (where we had no responsibilities!) Dogs are CLEARLY welcome - in hindsight I wish I'd brought mine along. There is a drawer full of dog toys in case some were left at home, a list in their binder of the best beaches to take your doggie and a shower that is clearly designed to bathe/hose off a sandy pup just coming in from a long walk. The views out the windows are picturesque and the beach is literally yards away. When we arrived, it was late and therefore, dark - but we could clearly hear the distant waves outside and it was a wonderful welcome. The cottage is quite old but has been remodeled what looks like multiple times. It got very cold at night but with the heaters in the living room and bedroom on we kept quite cozy. (bring your slippers to walk to the bathroom at night!) The hot tub was perfect on those cold nights and easy to figure out how to use. We dined at Terrapin Creek - just 4 days after they'd received their impressive Michelin star! We drove to Hog Island farm to picnic and shuck our own oysters. We sipped wine at sunset on the deck of Gourmet au Bay and drove out to Bodega Head to stroll along the bluffs above the ocean. Not only all this - but Sharon was easy and delightful to work with. Very easy-going yet thorough. She very clearly wanted us to have a nice time and enjoy ourselves.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, pet owners.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2002
About the owner: We are local residents and business owners. Craig is a woodworker/furniture designer and Sharon manages our showroom/gallery/store in Valley Ford, which is 15 minutes from Bodega Bay. We purchased this 1929 cottage ten years ago and have remodeled quite a bit. We are really proud to roll out the red carpet-and we do! Guests can walk out the front door and stroll on the two-mile stretch of Salmon Creek Beach in a few minutes! We love the ocean, sand dunes, the seasonal birds in Salmon Creek and the rugged beauty of this area. We have more sand dollars than we can count, jars of sea glass and a stellar collection of heart-shaped rocks from the beach. We are happy people and we want you to be happy and comfortable while you are here..
Why the Owner Chose Bodega Bay:
We drove up from the Bay Area for years to spend weekends on the Sonoma Coast. We had the 'I don't want to leave' discussion every Sunday night and often departed at 4 a.m. to get back to our jobs on Monday! Finally, we just bit the bullet and moved.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
We love sitting in the hot tub at night in different seasons...the din of the creek frogs in the Spring, the beautiful stars in the summer, the warmth of the Indian Summer in the Fall, the rain and the sound of the waves crashing on the beach in the winter.
