The cottage has lots of balcony and deck space overlooking a gorgeous view of the Bay. The cottage has a rustic feel with wood floors throughout and a gas fireplace that provided great warmth for cold autumn nights. The decor is country elegance. There is a staircase to the upstairs that might pose a hazard for some, but for us, it was part of the charm of the place. The cottage was clean and equipped with what we needed to keep it that way. Bedding and towels were provided. The kitchen had all we needed. We brought our groceries in from out of town for better pricing. We also went out of town to eat as we found the local options to be next to nothing. The cottage was tops to enjoy the beauty of Upstate N.Y. and the peace it affords. The location is a 5 minute drive to Fair Haven State Park with free entrance this time of year. We walked the peer, beaches and as far as we could from one end to another. There were lots of swans in the Bay. The water was clear as crystal. There is a woodsy area on top of the bluff that we would have explored more had the roads been open. Saw a number of deer. - we hope to return.

Charming victorian cottage with a spectacular view of little sodus bay. This cottage offers a warm and cozy atmosphere while providing plenty of space. I enjoyed my morning cup of coffee in the enclosed porch off the master bedroom. This is a perfect get away for tourists.

Great water view
Great water view
We just returned from a week's vacation with our 5 grandchildren at this historic cottage. The home was comfortable and tastefully furnished. The two screened in porches were a hit with everyone especially in the mornings. The week was extremely hot and we all felt the heat around dinner time. There was a portable air conditioner that we plugged in and it did cool somewhat, but with the temperatures in the high 90's we were still quite warm. Another air conditioner was very useful in the upstairs central hallway during the evenings. Because it is a very old home, we had to be very careful with the pine floors throughout the home. The other item that proved to be fun for the grandchildren but a little more difficult for my husband and me was the extremely narrow and steep stairs going to the bedrooms. We did get used to them but they were just as the owner described them. Definitely not suitable for young children and the elderly. The kitchen was tiny and got quite hot during the afternoon even with a portable fan and the extra air conditioner. There was adequate equipment and lots of dishes and glasses. The dishwasher helped a lot with clean up. The owners came to the house at the beginning of our stay to show us the home and explain how certain things worked. Good flat screened tv and wireless internet were hits with the children. We had a good week and the kids really loved riding their bikes to the state park everyday to swim. The area is safe and friendly.

Relaxing and beautiful
Relaxing and beautiful
I spent 6 days and 5 nights at the cottage and despite the rainy weather, loved it. My family enjoyed the beautiful setting and you can not beat the 2 decks and 2 sun porches - I especially loved the porch after the master bedroom. If you are looking for a cottage feel -- this is a wonderful spot. Take a 20 minute drive to Chimney bluffs state park and the fair haven state park. Thanks Karen and Dan for a great vacation.
