Imagine a fully furnished Northwest contemporary home with soaring ceilings, the warmth of hardwood floors and gas fireplace and the delights of a luxurious master bath. Now imagine a setting on a private Island cove, surrounded by towering evergreens except on the side that opens to a breathtaking view of Hales Passage and Mount Baker. Put the two together and you have a vacation spot where dreams are realized and memories are made.
What amenities can you expect to find at the house?
All bed linens, towels, cooking utensils and cooking staples are provided. There is a pool table and well stocked game cupboard upstairs, together with some outdoor equipment in one of the trunks there. The library is extensive and varied. The television set, DVD player and VCR are in the entertainment center in the living room together with a tuner, CD and tape player. A wireles router delivers high speed internet access to your laptop. The master bedroom has a sauna and jetted tub.
What recreational opportunities does the Island offer?
Activities related to the outdoors are paramount. Walking, hiking, biking, beach exploration, boating and crabbing are all popular activities. You will need to bring your own bicycles or boat. A dinghy can be carried from the driveway to the beach, or a larger boat can be launched at Fisherman’s Cove or elsewhere and tied to our buoy in front of the house.
The Farmer’s Market next to the Islander operates every Saturday morning beginning at 10 a.m. and offers a great opportunity to buy produce, flowers, baked goods, craft items and fresh prawns or crab in season. There is a large and active artist’s colony on the Island which opens their studios four weekends a year (usually Memorial Day, July 4, Labor Day and early in December). It is also possible to view their work by appointment or at the Sisters Gallery next to The Islander. Video rentals are available at The Islander. The Willows often shows movies on Wednesday evenings and offers casual and fine dining. They may also offer special entertainment; call them to check their schedule (we can provide the number).
The Beach Store Cafe is open Thursday through Sunday. There is a tennis court at Beach School which may be used by the public outside school hours. Well Latte’ Dah, next to The Islander, will take care of your espresso cravings and also has outdoor grilled burgers on nice weekend afternoons.

What did you like best? The setting. The good beach access. All the supplies (towels, paper towels, staples, etc)! The shade and sun mixed together. The view. The "ocean". (x2) Waking up to the mountains and the water, with coffee on the deck. The whole relaxing ambiance. Just the whole combination of everything!

We're water people. We loved the access to our paddling. The phosphoresence were awesome during our night paddle; the loon's call, eagles, seal playing by Portage Island - all outstanding. The young adults, teens and old adults loved all amenities: pool table, soaker tub, sauna, kitchen!!

This is the first weekend away we were up with the sun both days. The view and beauty were too much to sleep through! We had a wonderful time. This is a very special location and home. We loved the master bath. This is coming from a couple who have always scoffed at the waste of a huge master bath. We love yours!

What a paradise it is here! The house is surrounded by beauty on all sides, and the peace is amazing. I can't think of anything missing for our comfort, and the whole house is kept immaculately clean and pristine. Margaret is wonderful; we appreciate her work and her cheerful helpfulness.

The House was beautifully decorated and extremely comfortable. We loved the view, the house, the bathtub, the beach and the dog next door who came to visit us on the beach. The slippers were a nice touch!

Hi Lylene, I've been meaing to email you ever since we left The House at Sunrise Cove. We had a super, wonderful time. It was just perfect for us all to be there as a family. Lummi Island was such a find! Our little granddaughter, Caroline, who will be four in a week or so, thought at first that the house was our house. I had to tell her a couple of times that this was not our house, but it was Lylene's house, and we were just visiting so that we could all be together. After they returned home and we were talking on the phone, Caroline said how much she missed us and said, "I hope we can visit you again soon, at your house or at Lylene's house." She apparently talks about the house quite a lot and remembers the nice time we had there.
