Be close to everything that is happening in Austin. It's hard to get a cooler place with a better location. Full of color and original art (photos by owner and art by the resident artist next door), it is a COMFORTABLE happy place with great energy. The bedroom has a King size bed with the famous Westin Hotel mattress. The couch in the living room is a Queen sleeper. The down stairs bathroom comes with 'Pretty Boy' the tetra fish and his aquarium which happens to be part of the toilet tank. The kitchen is fully loaded with anything a cook or chef might need or want. This is a two story unit which is part of a fourplex. Zilker Park Place is located just two blocks from Zilker Park and Barton Springs Pool. It is close to SoCo and less than a $10 cab ride to downtown. A half block to the bus and is easy walking distance to restaurant row on Barton Springs Rd. The hiking trail around Lady Bird Lake is approx. a mile away. Enjoy Zilker, Barton Springs, or the Greenbelt. (WiFi/digital cable)
Barton Creek Greenbelt: One of Austin's premier mountain biking, hiking, trail running and rock climbing destinations. This 8 mile long, 809 acre greenbelt begins less than 1/4 a mile away from our front door. Beautiful and fun in any season. During wet weather the creek is a kayak, tubing and swimming destination with numerous small waterfalls and fun rapids.
Austin's Hike and Bike Trail: Easy access to downtown is car-free on this waterfront trail, 1/2 block from our front door. Popular with bikers, walkers and joggers, trees and wildflowers provide shade and beauty along this 10.3 mile trail which loops around the lake. Several pedestrian bridges cross into downtown with access points to live music venues, restaurants, shopping, museums, concert halls, the opera house and beyond. Don't miss the Congress Avenue Bridge, home to the largest Urban Bat Colony in the world!
Other Activities: Rowing, Frisbee golf, BMX biking, rock climbing, kayak and canoe. Don't forget Austin is the Live Music Capital of the World. Sixth street and the Warehouse District is a 10 minute drive from Zilker Park Place.

This is a great place in every way. I loved all the vibrant colors and decor. The bed was so comfy it was hard to get up every morning. The neighborhood was quiet and the locale was perfect. It was close to a ton of restaurants and a block to Barton Springs. We have never stayed in a place so clean. Hope to stay here again on a return visit.Did you find this review helpful? My bridesmaids and I stayed here for my wedding in October and we could not have loved it more! The place was so bright and absolutely lovely! The beds were far beyond comfortable and one of the bridesmaids just decided to sleep on the chaise lounge because it was " too comfortable to get out of". Some of us walked over to Barton springs which was so relaxing and our wedding reception was held in Zilker Park just around the corner. I honestly cant say enough about how much we all LOVED our stay here. Enough that my new husband and I will be staying here the next time we visit Austin (hopefully it will be available!)Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We were smiling from the moment we arrived and felt the warmth of this wonderful townhouse in a perfect location with easy parking! After a week, we actually hated to leave as we were so comfortable. It truly was our home for a week. We entertained, barbecued, cooked, slept great in the amazing bed, the a/c kept us cool (as it was really hot and humid), and the neighbors were so friendly (Gary next door). The place wasn't missing a thing. The owner and the manager were beyond agreeable and accommodating and all went smoothly. In fact, the owner knows my boyfriend (www.louiscantillo.com) and wanted one of his pieces of artwork! Small world great story. My only suggestion to the manager is that the internet is a bit slow, but for most people it will be fine. Other than that, I could live there! And we will definitely return. One of the best vrbo's I have ever stayed in and I've stayed in quite a lot. Thanks again to Lois and Amanda from Carol and Louis Cantillo in Scottsdale, ArizonaOwner response: So happy you enjoyed your stay. Louis is a great artist and I am so happy to have one of his pieces. I also think the bed is so so comfy and have many times thought about sneaking out of my own home so I could sleep in that awsome bed. It is so quiet over there that I am concerned once I arrive, I might not come back home. Please come back again. Lois

I was looking for a place in town for a romantic getaway. This quiet apartment totally fits the bill. It is true South Austin hip and funky AND it's convenient to all the hipness that South Austin has to offer. The restaurants, bars, juice bars, bbq joints and cool hangouts lining world-famous Barton Springs Blvd. (Austin's restaurant row) are an easy bike ride or walk away at 1/2 mile. The neat thing is that you don't have to go along roads to get there, you can hop on Austin's wonderful and stunningly beautiful hike and bike trail system and you're there in no time. Whole Foods awesome flagship store is just across the lake at a mile away. The Austin original, Alamo Drafthouse and Cinema, is about 3/4 of a mile away. All the coolness that is SoLa or South Lamar is about a mile away. Basically, all your needs can be met here because every thing is so conveniently located. There is even a wonderful little grocery and dry cleaners just a block away. So, about the apartment. It is outstanding. We never heard any neighbors even though it's located in a fourplex. We loved eating on the private enclosed patio. We loved all the funky art on the walls and the cool color palette of the walls and furniture. The staircase leading to the comfy bedroom upstairs is a huge space and a wonderful gallery for the artist's work. Oh, and if you stay here for one reason, and one reason alone, stay here for the the fishtank toilet in the downstairs bath - 'nuff said.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

This is such a lovely home, everything you could need has been thought of. The colors are so cheery and bright, but the vibe is chill. Went for a weekend girls trip, and had a marvelous time. It's so close to everything. Highly recommend Chuy's, Torchy's, and River City Donuts. Mmmm! Don't forget to feed the fish...just a tiny bit. ;)Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

What a wonderful fun and comfortable condo! Great location! But the best thing of all is the attention to detail and hospitality! Absolutely everything you need is there and ready for your use. I was there for 4 days and without a doubt staying in such a awesome condo enhanced my relaxing vacation. I would HIGHLY recommend Zilker Park, to anyone. We only stayed two brief nights in this eclectic townhouse, but they were most relaxing and even more so than most hotels I've stayed in. The accommodations were most enjoyable and the location in reference to all the places I had to go to was perfect. Not to mention we were able to WALK to Barton Springs, which everyone who ever visits Austin should be obligated to go to. All in all, one of the best stays in Austin ever.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

The location was great! Restaurants near by. Close to downtown. Loved the proximity to the walking trails. The unit was fully stocked with plenty of blankets, pillows, towels, toiletries, and all the staples in the kitchen. We cooked several meals at home and everything, including spices, were provided. We just had to add a few groceries. I would recommend the rental to anyone who wanted to feel like a local for their stay. We had a great time! Thanks!Did you find this review helpful? Loved the place!!! We wanted to take the sun table but couldn't fit it in our luggage. This is a great location with some cool stuff. We really liked the fish and the Texas shaped ice cubes. The bed was comfy and the towels were nice. Thank you for everything.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1990
About the owner: Hi. This description is about me, Lois. I am the owner and Amanda is my manager. I have been a professional intuitive since 1993 and have teaching intuition classes since 1995. Presently I hold dating workshops and relationship support groups throughout the year. I enjoy writing and am presently the relationship columnist for Austin Woman Magazine (which is a free publication available at Whole Foods, Central Market, and other locations throughout Austin). Somehow over the years I have become a relationship expert and have yet to find a question that I can’t answer. I enjoy local theatre and the film festivals and have found a great outlet for my reviews at the austinpost. I live in the neighborhood less than a mile from the rental. I am known for having one of the most colorful houses in this very eclectic neighborhood. The yard has been featured on the local yard art tour. The art car pictured above is my fourth. It is “Carsmos” which is decorated with a sea theme, the solar system, the city of Austin, and the different regions of earth on the hood. I am the female in the photo and my life partner is the male, who is also an artist. We have travelled a bit (mostly the U.S. and Europe) and the photos throughout the rental are ours. Color makes me feel alive and the color in the rental and in our photography is a reflection of that passion. My motto is “if there is still twenty minutes, there is time to see a museum”. Having studied art history and gone on four art history tours of Europe, I have been fortunate to have seen some of the very best European Masters and some of the greatest museums in the world. I couldn’t be happier.
Why the Owner Chose Zilker:
I purchased the Four-Plex because of the incredible location and the highly desirable neighborhood. Although it looks like it might be a busy street, it is quiet and peaceful. I enjoy the greenery and the old trees everywhere. It is hard to get much closer to the park or to the back entrance of our famous Barton Springs Pool. It is our natural treasure. The unit is in a residential neighborhood but only blocks away are some of the best Austin restaurants located on Barton Springs Rd. Everything is close. There is no need to start a hike on Lady Bird Lake’s Hike and Bike trail when just walking out the door will add less than a mile extra to the run…one way of course. I lived in one of the units in 1990. It was hard to leave but fortunately I didn’t have to go too far. The neighbors are great and if you say “hi” they will always great you with a big smile. Not only that but I’m sure they won’t mind helping with directions. After all, it is the Austin way.
The Unique Benefits at this Townhome:
I have lived in Austin for over 30 years. I have great tourist advice. Amanda, the manager, lives between my home and the rental. If you want to know the coolest things to do during your stay just ask. She can tell you how to reach me. Honestly, it would be hard to be in a better location, in a more comfortable environment, surrounded by the best that Austin has to offer. Have a cup of coffee, sit back, read, watch TV, or do nothing. Better yet enjoy the best of everything that Austin has to offer. It is just around the corner. You can drive, take the bus, or bike anywhere. After all my travels I still believe Austin is the best city on the planet.
