My family & I stayed here so that my mother-in-law could enjoy the whale watching for her 80th birthday. We were not disappointed by anything in our trip! The villa is immaculately beautiful...very luxurious and comfortable with separate air conditioners for each room, and luxurious bathrooms en suite for each room. The resort grounds are quite beautiful, and we all felt very safe with the guarded entrance, and security who patrolled to ensure all was well. The staff we met at the bar, and marina store were so helpful and very kind if we needed information or directions to local places. Martina was lovely to have there. She cooked us meals, including breakfast and dinner a few times...all delicious and wonderful to have local cuisine. She cleaned for us, washed any clothing we needed. We took a day trip to Cayo Levantado, and drove all over the peninsula to see the beaches and terrain. One day, we met a very lovely man who had docked his boat in the Marina, and offered to take us all out to go whale watching the next morning! We were lucky enough to see a mother & her baby, and followed them for a hour, watching their movements. I even saw a whale from the balcony of the villa, although I am not sure how frequently the whales come that far into the bay. I'd highly recommend this place for anyone. The villa was just the right size for six people, the furnishings beautiful, the personal pool & patio comfortable to sit out on. It was a great trip and great place to stay!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We had such a wonderful time during our stay in Samana we hardly know where to begin. The home is beautiful, the pictures do not do the property justice. We were comfortable for the entire 10 weeks stay. There's so much to do between the house and hotel, there's no excuse for boredom. Also, Martina was the best! Not only can she cook a scrumptious Sancocho, which we highly recommend, she helped us to improve on our Spanish too! City: The nearest city is Samana and there are not many grocery stores there. For shorter stays you may be okay finding what you need either in Samana or Las Terrenas (30 min. by car), but for longer stays you'll have to stock up in either Santiago or Santo Domingo, As far as excursions go, we did the zip lining and Los Haitises National Park, and ventured out to Cayo Levantado a few times, these were all amazing. In most instances we were able to catch boats at the Puerto Bahia Marina, which was a great bonus. The hotel was also very helpful when it came to arranging excursions, car rentals, taxi service to and from the airports, or even just providing a hot pizza last minute :) We were also able to utilize the Spa for haircuts, massages, manicures and pedicures and those were great too. Our family highly recommends this property and probably will be visiting again. The owner was there every step of the way if we had questions or needed assistance. Have a great time! We did!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.

This home is perfectly located in the Puerto Bahiea resort just west of Samana. The home had 3 specious rooms, was new and very upscale. Great for our family of 6. The resort had 5 pools and a few nice restaurants. It seemed to be primarily secondary homes of Dominican's from the larger cities. The staff was very friendly. The marina store was limited and I would suggest stopping at a grocery store in Santo Domingo or Santiago before arriving. Martina was there each day as a maid and cook and did a wonderful job. Since we did not have a car, we asked her to pick up a few food items mid week for us and she brought them the next day. While at the resort property, we felt 100% safe. Great security and absolutely no non-residents on the large grounds. Hilly terrain for walking and running. Use caution when ventuing off property on foot as there are no walking areas and heavy traffic exists. We had friends staying at the marina and they found the Marina accomodations to be very nice as well.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.

About the owner: We used to live in San Francisco and for the last 12 years have been living in Madrid, Spain and we purchased our dream vacation home in Samaná to spend our summer vacations with our friends, but would like to make it available for other families that we are sure will enjoy it at other times! This last summer we spent 2 months there and had several visitors with kids that absolutely loved it. You should count on renting a 4x4 vehicle to visit the many beaches in the area, but that some of them have challenging access!

Samaná is still a perfect mixture of tropical paradise and civilized comforts, we have good friends in the Dominican Republic that recommended this luxury development for its quality, security and absolute perfect location to boat, fish and lounge on the virgin beaches of white powder and azure ocean water.
