Our big, multi-generational family has been renting houses in Twain Harte for many years. In fact, we frequently rent more than one at a time. Fourteen of us stayed at the lovely Lone Star Lodge and it was the best vacation house we have ever rented. The adult couples all loved having their own private bathrooms which were recently remodeled with high end finishes and beautiful stone tile showers. Love the corner jetted tub and bath bubbles!! The kids took over the "Bear Bedroom" and upstairs and the big media room. They enjoyed hours of playing the numerous board and card games as well as watching the extensive DVD collection in surround sound. The adults had our own space downstairs in the lovely living room. Although modern in it's amenities, the house still looks and feels like a rustic cabin. It's full of stone and log walls, a redwood log staircase and old style barn doors. We made wonderful meals in the gorgeous and abundantly stocked kitchen which was a chef's dream. We especially loved the huge six burner stove with the built in griddle. The bedrooms, upstairs media room futons and even the bed linens were all clean and incredibly comfortable. Unlike many other houses in Twain Harte which are built on hillsides leaving little real yard, this house has a large back and front yard which is a forest wonderland for playtime. The kids loved the tree swings and I loved relaxing in the double hammock while the little ones safely explored. Our cars stayed parked as we walked the few minutes to the center of town and even to the grocery store. Our family spent the days exploring the area and the nights roasting marshmallows by the fire side. We spent hours soaking in the hot tub under the stars. What a spectacular night time view! The hot tub was in pristine condition and our kids really loved the waterfall and colored lights. If I had one complaint it would be that we did not rent for long enough. We look forward to returning and making more wonderful memories at the Lone Star Lodge.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

As soon as I walked in, I felt totally at home. This place is beautiful and cozy! There was not one negative experience during our entire stay. We stayed 4 nights with my parents, our children and my best friend and her son. We never felt cramped once. Another review stated that the pictures don't do this place justice and it is so true. No need to bring a thing either. Everything you could want is there. We went to the local grocery store and it was GREAT. Also, the communication with the owner was above and beyond what you get anywhere else. I highly recommend this place! We will be back again for sure.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

What a gorgeous and spacious cabin! Lone Star Lodge gave us the best of both worlds - a quaint cabin but with plenty of room to roam and high end finishes. The game room and bedrooms upstairs made for kid heaven, and the two master suites were perfect for the parents. Even the kitchen was large enough to prep and feed a crowd. Beyond that, the owners were beyond helpful and accommodating, even pulling out a turkey roaster for our Thanksgiving feast. Every detail was thought of and attended to - just amazing.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

This house is wonderful, it has all the amenities anyone needs, along with a hot tub! The kitchen is state of the art and even though we brought some pans with us, they were not needed, the kitchen is fully stocked with all dishes, pans, pots needed. There were five of us middle aged women who got together for two nights and rented the Lone Star Lodge. We are planning a trip next year to this same facility, except this next time we will stay for more nights, two nights were not long enough at this beautiful home!!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

Lone Star Lodge is by far one of the most lovely houses we have ever stayed in our wonderful Twain Harte. Our family has property in Twain Harte and we have been going there since the 1945. The listing descriptioin of the location and setting of Lone Star is accurate and the photos actually did not give this beautiful spacious lodge enough credit for its modern and numermous amenities, yet not missing the feeling of a cabin in the Sierra Foothills.. The state of the art kitchen is fabulous and well equipted with all one needs to enjoy cooking in this mountain setting. The lodge is roomy and decorated with fine taste. Wonderful to have 3.5 bathroooms plus a useful laundry room. This is truly an exquisitly remodeled lodge to host a fabulous time for young, old, and in-between. We ate all of our meals outside in the roomy patio surrounded by trees, the flora and the fauna. We would highly recommend this to our friends and relatives. The owners were gracious and helpful and always available for any questions. Rivers, lakes, mountain cycling and hiking, fishing and dining, golfing, and minature golfing, tennis, historic Columbia and boating on Pinecrest lake are just a few of the activities Twain Harte has to offer. Thank you JackieRecommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Our family spent five wonderful days at the lovely Lone Star house in June. Wow!! This isn't your typical rental cabin in the woods. Lone Star is a rustic, beautiful, comfortable, welcoming home (the pictures don't do it justice). Jackie and Alan (the owners) were friendly and helpful. This was our first trip to Twain Harte and they answered all of our questions about the area. The house was beautifully decorated and well appointed. You couldn't have asked for more ammenities in a rental property. The kitchen was gorgeous--wine fridge, 6-burner stove and every gadget you could imagine or need to create a gourmet meal. There were lovely linens on all the very comfortable beds. My husband and I slept in one of the two downstairs master suites which included a lovely, large corner jetted tub and gorgeous tiled shower. My inlaws stayed in the other master suite which also had an ensuite bath. Our three little boys loved their upstairs bedrooms that opened onto the upstairs family/entertainment center. There were oodles of family friendly DVDs to watch on the big flat-screened TV with surround sound and lots of board games too. The setup with two master suites downstairs and two additional bedrooms upstairs with family room worked perfectly. Our boys could get up in the morning, watch TV and the adults could sleep in downstairs. The yard with swings, hammock and dining area was great as well. We ate dinner outside all the nights we were there. And, the house was just a short walk to downtown Twain Harte. We can't wait to return again!!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

As a group of 3 families, we were looking for a place in Twaine Harte that would accommodate us and also have many of the luxuries to keep all of us, adults and kids entertained when we were not outdoors. Lonestar Cabin had everything we could of wanted and more, thanks to some recent renovation. The kitchen is great. We have a couple chefs in the group who brought things for cooking but it was unnecessary; even the knives are razor sharp! The bathrooms are great. The beds are comfortable. The Entertainment Systems in the house are excellent and easy to use. The ambiance in the cabin was exactly what we'd hoped for. Overall, best rental experience I've had.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: Thank you so much for such a lovely review! We look forward to sharing our home with you and your family again. Take care, Alan and Jackie

Owner response: Hello, So happy you enjoyed your time in our home. We agree, sitting out under the stars in the hot tub is one of our favorite things to do with our four kids and friends. Did you see the Big Dipper right above the house? Come back and see us again. Take care, Jackie and Alan
