My husband and I were visiting San Francisco to see if we might like to move here. Couldn't have picked a better place to call our temporary home base. The 4-rooms-in-a-row apartment was immaculate and lovely. The owners, Martha and Dave, live upstairs. They have thought of everything you might need for a lengthy stay, from plentiful cookware/utensils to games/books on the shelves to little niceties left for your use (such as olive oil, salt, tea, shampoo). The hallway storage closet is huge and was able to hold all the suitcases and extra boxes that had filled up our car. The living room has a large, sunny window facing the street, a flat-screen TV, and oriental rug (that my husband would do his yoga on). Next came one bedroom after the other, with beds quite comfortable. (The W/C room and the Shower+sink bathroom are on the other side of the hallway.) Lots of cupboard and shelving and closet space everywhere, and it was so nice to have a washer and dryer in the basement. The kitchen at the back is the best room--it's very large and bright. We needed an extra surface to use as a desk for our computer work; the owners responded immediately with the perfect table, that we also set in the kitchen since there was plenty of room. Without being at all intrusive, the owners were super helpful with all our personal queries, too--offering places to shop, to get a haircut, whatever type of information or referral we needed. (Martha even invited us to join them for a couple of social occasions upstairs.) Also, the apt is very quiet, and in a great walkable neighborhood (altho hilly) at the east end of Noe Valley, perfect for its closeness to the BART station and for placing you central to many neighborhoods enjoyable to wander, from Noe's 24th St shops (p.o., library, video store, Whole Foods, too) to the Mission District to Dolores Park, the Castro, and Glen Park. (Be sure to check out Dolores Park Cafe, Lucca Italian foods, Que Tal coffeeshop, and Muddy Waters coffeeshop on Valencia.) Although the BART and the Muni/Bus system will get you around easily--you can google the bus schedule on your iPhone! --if you have a car, then getting a parking permit is a good idea; a 4-week permit cost $45. All in all, it was the perfect entryplace for us to get to know a good deal about this city in a very condensed amount of time.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car.

We spent 3 weeks recently at this very comfortable condo. We can truly call it our home away from home. What we love is the spaciousness of this place. It was well maintained with all the basic essentials of home. We enjoy the location. Within a 10 minute walk you will find all kinds of shops, drug store, toy stores, gift shops, restaurants and cafe, banks, grocery store and even hardward store. One block away is the J car which will take you down town in 25 minutes. It is a quiet neighbourhood. Noe Valle is apparently known for its sunny weather even when the neighbouring areas are experiencing foggy weather condition. We enjoyed getting to know the owners who were friendly and very accommodating. We wouldn't hesitate to come back again on our next visit to SF and we would highly recommend this place to friends.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car.

I stayed here November 27th -November 29th 2011. I loved it! I'm really into places with character and this place has loads of it. The owners did a fantastic job of maintaining the original charm of the residence yet modern day amenities prevail without seeming out of place. The living space is quiet and peaceful. Each room is thoughtfully and tastefully furnished. The entire space was very clean. I found the description for this listing to be completely accurate. The photos too. The location is in the Noe Valley nieghborhood and only about a block away from Valencia Street (which is kind of the nieghborhood center). The house is on a residential street but there's lots and lots of small cafes, shops and restaurants within easy walking distance. Oh - I recommend Firefly for dinner. I was completely wowed by the food there. Noe Valley is a peaceful nieghborhood and not tourist-y at all. When I stayed there I felt like a local but all of the attractions that San Fransisco offers were easily accessed by the nearby Bart and Muni stations/stops. I didn't have a car on my trip but I noticed available street parking. I would definitely stay here again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car, adventure seekers.

I rented this apartment for my mother and aunt (both in their 70's) while visiting me in SF. They appreciated the first floor convenience, the nearby shopping and restaurants, convenient public transportation, and the comfort and cleanliness of the apartment. They especially enjoyed sunny afternoons in the front room and the interesting books! Thank you from them for a wonderful stay.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, people with disabilities.

This was a perfect place for us three adults, but would be good for any kind of small group. The description and photos give a very accurate picture of the home. Cleanliness was super, plenty of windows, sunny kitchen (when the sun is out!), and the large hall closet was a real plus. The neighborhood shopping is ideal for travelers, anything you might need is just a few blocks away. Public transportation is close as well as freeway access. I used to live in SF so I know the town, and I would stay here again, no need to look further. The owners were extremely helpful and friendly, too.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, people with disabilities.

We had a good time staying here in November. Everything was as promised. The place is very comfortable and thank goodness for the excellent central heat. It was easy to get everywhere using BART or the trolley. Great bakeries and coffee on 24th St. and bars and restaurants on Valencia.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, tourists without a car.

About the owner: We've lived in San Francisco's Noe Valley for over 30 years and raised our children here. We like to travel ourselves and have found great places to stay through VRBO, plus we've made friends in other countries. We enjoy socializing with friends and neighbors, taking long walks on the beach or nearby San Bruno Mountain, as well as partaking of the cultural life of SF.
Why the Owner Chose Noe Valley:
We love Noe Valley, where we can easily walk to good restaurants and shopping. All major Bay Area attractions are within easy reach by public transportation or car. Favorite day trips are south to Pescadero to pick strawberries in the late Spring or north to Sausalito, Mount Tamalpais, Muir Woods and Pt. Reyes.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
Our flat provides a taste of traditional San Francisco Victorian details with up-to-date conveniences. Being on the first floor (three steps to the sidewalk) makes it perfect for families with small children or people with limited mobility.
