We have been visiting Townsend since the late 90's. We have stayed in multiple properties. Some have been very nice but none have been the complete package such as this one. My younger daughter has declared we will not go to a different house. The wraparound porches allow you to follow or avoid the sun. The ceiling fans keep each porch cool in the hottest weather. The screen porch allows you to stay outside even when the late night bugs arrive. The quality of the home really stood out from the majority of homes built as rental propeties. You can tell the Browns plan on living in this home. With people sleeping from the basement to the loft it is important to be able to sleep when you want to with out being disturbed by people above or below. The variety of dvds, videos and books rival a small library. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need. Too many properties have beds designed for prisoners. These beds are better than what I sleep on at home. Even though the neighborhood is quiet as a mountaintop you can be in the IGA grocery in 5 minutes. You can be in Cades Cove (one of the most beautiful places in the country) from the property in about 20 minutes. And for the shoppers Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg are about 30-40 minutes. Once you have been to either of those locations you will really enjoy the solitude of the home. The only bad thing about this property is I had to leave. We loved our stay at the cabin. We booked our stay which happened to be during a snow storm. The roads were covered in snow & ice (definitely recommend the 4X4 for this). Snow got so bad that we lost power (and water) for a couple hours. We called Jim who called the power company, and we were back up and running in no time. The cabin is clean and very cozy. I would say that it comfortably sleeps 6-8. We had a few more than that. If you are looking for peace and quiet, look no further. We loved being so close to Cade's Cove. We enjoyed the closeby restaurants and the Heritage Center. Jim & Kathy were great to work with. We had our damage deposit back in like 2 days after our return home. Very nice cabin and very nice people to deal with. We'll likely return again!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Our family recently spent a long weekend at this wonderful mountain house. The setting is very peace filled....especially the screened in porch just off the master bedroom. Someone had a moment of inspiration when they designed the porch...tucked into the quiet hillside plentifully covered with trees but also with a majestic view. The house itself is extremely comfortable and what you see in the photos....well, it is even better when you see it in person! The homeowners have taken great care to create a beautiful haven for your time in the mountains and you will not be disappointed. They are also very helpful and gracious in their internet and phone communications and desire to meet your needs. Another thing we really liked about the house was the game room on the lowest level of the house. It was a great area for our family to hang out in the evenings and when it was raining. And don't miss the swing just outside the game room! I found that the cost of this mountain house was very reasonable, especially when I saw we we got for our money. The house is also convenient to Townsend, grocery store, gas, church, the park. You can have it all but be away from it all at the same time. Our family will definitely return to this HomeAway vacation rental. Don't hesitate....rent it now!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
