  My wife and I were hoping to find a quiet oceanside getaway where we could spend our 49th anniversary. We live in El Salvador and wanted a B&B like those we have known and enjoyed in the US. We really did not expect to find one here. A relative living in the "States" discovered "Dulce Villa" on the Internet, liked what she saw in the photos and suggested we call for more details. That was how we first met D'arcy and Shawn Burke and after meeting them we knew our anniversary weekend would be in good hands. They didn't disappoint Everyone from the "States" who visits us in El Salvador tells us how surprisingly lush and beautiful the country is and how accommodating and friendly its' people are compared to what they expected. We make a habit of down playing everything so our guests won't expect too much and be disappointed. We prefer hearing "wow". Although Shawn and D'arcy's photos are excellent, somehow we were not prepared for our first real viewing of Dulce Villa. It is hard to describe the impact of the impression we received when we first walked in and finally saw the beauty of the house designed and built by the Burkes. It was a wow moment. The centerpiece of the property, the spotless Infinity Pool, is surrounded by covered patios with lounge furniture and a cheery and comfortable breakfast nook at one end with a barbecue as well as sofas and chaise lounges on the other side. Everything is nothing short of beautiful but what really makes the experience special are the Burkes. Their optimism and desire to make our experience the most it could be, endeared them to us. We shared all our meals together and these were gourmet quality meals, made from scratch with the freshest local materials. Seafood is abundant and fresh in this area and Shawn and D'arcy know how to make it just right. Every meal, from the sumptuous breakfast to the to die for fish dinner with shrimp stuffed baked potatoes was perfect. We spent hours engrossed in stimulating conversation that made the weekend an over the top experience with our perfect hosts. But we also spent time watching the surfers, the waves splashing on the rocks, the flocks of pelicans skimming the surface of the water, the dramatic sunrises and sunsets as well as the fishermen bringing in the days catch. All of this combined to make our anniversary weekend perfect. We'll be back for more of all of this and to continue making our new friendship with the Burkes grow.

  As the other reviewers have said, this place is very nice. It is perched over the ocean, has a great pool, and the owners are very nice and helpful. No complaints there. However, the ad refers to the rooms as 'presidential suites,' which they are not. The 'suites' are rooms of adequate size which have a bathroom between them. Although the bathroom is very pretty, the bathroom door is visible from the open-concept kitchen, so there isn't much privacy moving between the bathroom and the room. I expected more privacy after reading the description. This really wasn't a problem for us, but it was definitely not what I expected, so I thought I'd share.

We take every comment very seriously as we have made it our business to help others feel as welcomed as humanly possible and to help others fall in love with this amazing "Jewel" of Centro America. We refer to our accommodations as "Presidential," because that is how we want every one to feel, we offer up our whole home, indoors, and our amazing, outdoor living areas as entire space for guests to relax in and feel pampered by. We purposely created little sanctuaries as get a ways, such as our chaise lounge area near the bubbling fountain, peaceful hammock area, various bars and lounge areas, plus our sea side " nivel del sol " for massages and viewing sunsets and star gazing at night in dreamy comfort. We are contemplating some new ideas to incorporate for added privacy measures. Our goal is vacation satisfaction. We desire to be the ones who "set the bar! thank you for helping us serve others well.

  Our stay at this property couldn't have been nicer. The owners, who are on site, are warm, friendly people who see to your every need. We had seaside massages and facials that were incredibly relaxing. The setting is beautiful with incredible views of the Pacific and rocky cliffs. The food was also top notch and the Burkes accommodated our vegetarian needs throughout our stay. The house itself is beautiful but comfortable at the same time and our room was air-conditioned with comfortable beds. We plan to go back soon and would highly recommend this property!

  This year I decided to vacation on the beach and learn how to surf! My hosts picked me up at the airport and I was greeted with a smile and a hug and I felt so safe and cared for right off the start. As we drove the short distance to the B & B, they explained many cultural things and pointed out many interesting places and things to see and do. I was pleasantly surprised at how close their property was from the International airport. My luxurious room had sliding glass doors that opened to a large covered deck and mosaic tiled pool. During the course of my stay, I enjoyed waking up to the smell of delicious homemade breakfasts. I looked forward to taking my culinary delight to one of the many outdoor sitting areas. Each area had a breathtaking view of the Ocean.Their home is positioned to view both the beautiful sunrises and sunsets. My busy, overbooked and stressful lifestyle was transformed into a time of relaxing, reflecting and regrouping. The lower deck and sitting area was surrounded with beautiful coconut palm trees. There was a refreshing breeze gently flowing. I was able to let the sounds and smells of the ocean fill my senses as I enjoyed a seaside massage. One of the best parts for me was the cheerful personal concern for my comfort. The hospitality and kindness extended to me was one of my most memorable traveling experiences. I plan on gathering some friends to join me next year and include them in my return trip to this amazing "FIVE STAR," B&B.

  We were looking for the perfect getaway for ourselves and our daughter serving in the Peace Corps in Honduras. We found it in Dulce Villa! The sound of the ocean crashing against the rocks lulled us to sleep each night and was the perfect background music while we received organic facials and massages. The pool and terraces were pure paradise. There are lots of different seating options and levels so we could each find the perfect place to curl up and read a book or just nap in the sun. We awoke each morning to an amazing breakfast - pecan pancakes, plato tipico and incredible crepes. Shaun and D"Arcy made us feel like treasured friends and showed us the best El Salvador has to offer. They drove us to Juayua for the gastronomic fair and to Ataco for great shopping. We loved watching the boats come onto the pier at Malecon and the ceviche was the best we have ever had. Our favorite meal was Shaun's nachos served at the table in the pool. Not even a crumb was left behind! The pictures cannot do it justice. You will leave feeling refreshed, pampered and blessed. We can't wait to go back!

  My wife & I just traveled to this El Salvador/La Leona Beach B&B expecting a nice place to stay based on the information we found presented online. When we got there, it was more like a 5-star/diamond resort! We were totally blown away by the stunningly beautiful location and accomodations that no previous description or photograph we saw adequately captured. It is just like the old cliche..."you've got to see it to believe it!" We stayed a week and wished we could have stayed at least a month! The owner/managers, Shawn and D'Arcy Burke, are real pro's in the hospitality business, they have a God given gift! To complement the incredibly warm and sunny weather, fantastic sparkling ocean beach front location, immaculately clean, spacious and comfortable house, incredible pool, patio and grounds, we had in these two hosts, a treasure of friendly, knowledgeble, experienced service and assistance. They pampered us, provided for all our needs, and showed us a great time! They provided transportation to and from the airport, created wonderfully relaxing time at their house-resort, fixed wonderful meals (Shawn's nacho's are to die for), and took us around to some of the best outside dining and attractions in the area. They knew so many of the locals it was if they were famous. We felt very secure and warmly welcome wherever we went. Words and pictures will not do this experience justice, you will just have to find out for yourself.

  Pura Vida is a Spanish phrase which literally means, "pure life". Dulce Villa is one of the few places on earth that has ushered me into a complete enjoyment of pure living. In this luxurious bed and breakfast overlooking the Pacific Ocean, my family and I were able to forget our worries, lose track of time, and relax like never before. There were plenty of excursion opportunities for us to try, but the view was so gorgeous and the pool was so inviting, that we never even wanted to leave the Bed and Breakfast. Shawn and D'Arcy are also some of the most genuine, loving, and welcoming people I have ever met in my life. They can cook gourmet food, carry on interesting conversations, and beat you in card games. I truly felt like we became a part of their family in the short amount of time we stayed at Dulce Villa. I would highly recommend this Bed and Breakfast to anyone. It was a little piece of heaven and a wonderful respite from work and responsibilities.

  What can we say? After a ten day mission trip distributing wheelchairs, my wife and I and our 23 old daughter came to this paradise. We were treated better then family and enjoyed three unforgetable days lounging on the terrace and being pampered by our hosts. We highly recommend this little piece of "Heaven"on earth. Although my daughter originally wanted to do things and visit places in El Salvador, she quickly agreed with us that this was the most beautiful spot. The meals were exceptional, especially the nachoes! What a treat! I actually thought I might lose some weight while in El Salvador but I was wrong. Every meal was hand cooked by our hosts. What a team! their smiles and stories kept us up and enjoying their company. Although I would caution you not to play a certain card game that D'Arcy seems to always win. She is very competitive! Shaun is the perfect laid back hosts who has everything under control even when calling a young man to meet our daughter. I could go on but there would be too much to tell; the messages, beds, food and view were the best!

  From the moment we arrived till the time we had to return back to the hustle and bustle of North American life we were treated like Gods in Paradise. We were hesitant about vacationing in El Salvador but Shawn and D´Arcy have changed our views on this beautiful, safe country. The guest house is perfect in every way right down to the last detail. poolside breakfasts, amazing sunsets, and every amenity you could imagine. We highly recommed this hidden jewel to anyone and everyone. We have already booked our next trip back and are counting the days until we return.

  I stayed at Dulce Villa , the place was so clean and beutifully decorated, the owners made us feel as if we were old friends visiting. I had this fabulous massage on a balcony overseing the ocean and it was the most relaxing. While sitting at the poolside we were overwhelmed by the sight of whales on the ocean ,what an incredible sight I highly recomend the place . I have talked to all my friends about it already
