Newport is famous for its summer season. It is home to the remarkable Bellevue Avenue mansions, the Tennis Hall of Fame, and the Classical, Jazz, and Folk Music Festivals, It has a variety of great Atlantic beaches, all close by. Sports on offer include swimming, sailing, surfing, wind and kite surfing, golf, horseback riding, hiking, fishing, and tennis.
A charming, old colonial town with narrow, cobblestoned streets, Newport is ideal for sightseeing and shopping. Many of the attractions, notably the restaurants, pubs, shops, and the harbor, are within walking distance of the house. Not surprisingly, seaford--fresh and varied--is the leading gastronomic specialty, but there is also an abundance of locally produced meat, fruit, and vegetables available at colorful farmers' markets..
