Perched on a bluff at the edge of the Pacific Ocean, Grandma’s Beach Cottage offers unobstructed white water views that cannot be improved upon. She sure knew how to pick em’ - this house could not be better placed! It is located inside the private gated entrance to Irish Beach’s exclusive beach access and looks right down the beach to the western most point of the lower 48 – the Point Arena Lighthouse. Grandma was very unpretentious and so is her house; she built the first home in Irish Beach with 3 bedrooms, 1 full bathroom, constructed of solid core redwood (no paneling here!) with lots of windows to soak up the view and a fully equipped kitchen. Grandma didn’t want us kids sitting around a TV when there was exploring to be done outside, nor was she going to be inside doing laundry. You will not find a TV or laundry facility in this house! She didn’t really know how to use a computer, but yes our house is equipped with wifi. I think Grandma must have been a romantic, because her house sure puts you in the mood. With a glass of wine in front of the fire and the constant sound of the crashing waves, honey by my side, well... I just can’t think of anything better! If you love long walks on the beach, and natures wondrous scenery I think you too will love Grandma’s Beach Cottage.

We have been coming to Irish Beach for about 15 years, and we have stayed at several ocean front properties. We found Grandma's Cottage a few months ago, on VRBO and I reserved it for Thanksgiving week. We couldn"t believe it it when we arrived and saw before us, the 180 degree view, which is like no other, and it was all ours, and all I could say was WOW look at that. This house has huge windows, all across the ocean side, and a nice area to walk and sit at the ocean side. We sat out there every evening taking pictures of the sunset, and loving the whitewater views. We never knew there was a house where you could see it all, the whole beach, right out your windows, or while you stood or sat on the front deck area. It is positively a million dollar view and it doesn't get any better than this. We were so thrilled to experience what we had always hoped for, and this house sits right above the beach, with no obstacles in your way at all, It also offers a short enjoyable walk right down to the beach, which we did every day. We are thankful that we finally found the best house with the million dollar view for our trips to Irish Beach. Grandma got first pick of the properties 50 years ago, and she hit the Jackpot.

One of my favorite places to visit is Grandma's Beach Cottage. I have been going there many years and still am in bewildered awe of this magnificent piece of real estate. The view of the ocean is high above, but not too high to see a spouting whale, and witness the timeless motion of such serene beauty. Low tide offers many tide-pools to investigate, where you can spot beautiful starfish, and rainbow colored sea anemones. The rental itself is basic but efficient for a comfortable lodging, with windows offering the ridge top view of the Pacific as far as you can see. The wood burning fireplace offers a cozy, rustic atmosphere to the backdrop of the the roaring ocean and sea breezes. The Point Arena lighthouse can be spotted 10 miles south on most days. With Mendocino nearby, there is plenty to do and see. Manchester offers a nice market only minutes down Highway 1 from Irish Beach. The owner is very helpful and I would recommend this property over and over.

My sisters friend recommended this Beach House to her which in turn she told me. My girlfriend and I share the same birthday and we always plan something for a get-away. Well this year we decided on Grandma's Beach House. I have to say we were not disappointed,setting up for the reservations was very easy. I talked with Jennifer and like I told her this was the smoothest transaction I have ever done. The only concern I have is I wish there was a drawn map as to get there. Finding Irish Beach was easy due to my GPS, but it did not recognize the address. I did call Jennifer and she talked me to the house. If you have trouble once you go through the gate, just look for a bench to the left and the road is to the right. It will be a dirt/grassy road and you pass a house on the left, and Gma's house is on the top of the road. It's funny once you find it, it is very easy. On to the house, it over looks the ocean and beach! What a view! When we went it was windy, but it still was GREAT! The house is set up with more then we thought. There are games and puzzles to use. We had no problem cooking everything was there that we needed. The fire place warms the place up, and one point I got a little to warm. I can't say enough on how we had a great Birthday and we plan on returning during the Summer to see if it will be warmer. Don't pass this one up, you won't be disappoint! Thank you for sharing Grandma's House, we could feel the love!

Charming wonderful escape

I have been renting this beach house since my daughter was 18 months old and she is now 19 year old. Our first visit to the beach house was her first view of the ocean and I can still remember her comment to us "Big WAWA". Yes, it has a great view of the water and a very special place in our hearts. The view from the house is unbelievable and the sunsets magnificent. You have access to the private beach with lots of logs for building forts and one end of the beach has tidepools with lots of marine life to be observed. Horses are available nearby for rent for a walk on this great beach. It is the "perfect" getaway from all the pressures of life and you feel like you are the only people in the world when you are there. Mendocino is only a 20 minute drive north to ride the Skunk Train and see this wonderful beachside resort. Also, don't forget to write in and read the wonderful journals of people who have visited from all over the world and shared their memories and stories. It is a true paradise and a place to rejuvenate your soul and I would highly recommend this place to anyone. Jennifer is a pleasure to work with and know all these years. The house isn't the fanciest one in Irish Beach but has the best view and is affordable for families. Don't miss experiencing this treasure of a lifetime.
