We welcome you to our small but luxurious condominium in the most sought after area of Cannes. On the bottom photo note the Point Croisette and the location of our condominium, in the most exclusive area of Cannes. The Croisette in Cannes is the Rodeo Drive of Beverly Hills, Manhattan’s Fifth Avenue, or Chicago’s Lake Shore Drive. On the Croisette you will find the boutiques of the Haute Couture designers of the world Versace, Hermes, Channel, Cartier, Louis Vuitton, Bulgari, Yves St. Laurent, and many, ohers.
The Croisette is where you will mingle with the rich and famous. The heart of the designer, casino, and convention center called the Palais des Festival where the International Cannes Film Festival is held, off the bottom photo on the seashore in the Centre Croisette. Here you will find the casinos Cannes is famous for: they are located in the Carlton Hotel, the Noga Hilton, and the Palais des Festival. The fourth casino, the Palm Beach Hotel, is located just four blocks from our condominium, in the Point Croisette. A walk from our apartment to the opposite side of the Centre Croisette is two kilometers or about one and one-half miles, so you can appreciate the ideal location of the condominium. It is situated in a quiet residential neighborhood literally just a few steps from the center of activity. Because it is on the point, the beaches are all around you within a two to three block walk in three directions.
The quality 12-unit condominium complex completed construction in January 2000 where the attention to convenience and quality is evidenced. Our unit is on the third floor (European) or fourth floor (American) in the back, where it is away from the street and quiet. Here you will find our small unit, 50 square meters (approximately 550 square feet), well-appointed for your stay. All the furnishings are in ivory or white with natural colored wood and in perfect condition as the condo was brand new in 2000. The result is a very light, pleasing environment. We are the only owners in our building to rent their unit for holiday rentals. Everyone else utilizes their unit as a second residence, the units are valued between $500,000 and $2,000,000. This is not a noisy “tourist churn” building, it is an upscale residence.
The unit boasts three full-size patio doors, two from the living room and one from the master bedroom that leads to the large patio which wraps around the entire unit, facing north, south, and east. The master bedroom beds are two singles that are pushed together to make a queen-size. Use the remote on the electric beds to configure the bed to a sitting position or to elevate your legs. The large closet is finished as a California closet with ample drawers and shelving.
The second bedroom is very small, just bunk beds that fold up into the wall, a dresser, and a chair. The bathroom walls, floor, and large shower are all beige Travertine marble, as are all the floors in the unit.
The kitchen has all new appliances, dishes, pots, pans, and silverware and is open to the living room/dining room. The living room/dining room has a large comfortable sleeper sofa, I slept on it for two weeks and there are privacy screens. All the closets are California Closet style and there is plenty of storage.
The unit has three separate thermostats, one for each bedroom and one for the main living area where you are easily able to set the central heat and central air-conditioning to your comfort level. We purchased an over-sized heating and air-conditioning unit for the condominium, so when you want heat or air you get it right away, full force. I love the water pressure, you get a nice hot shower. The new one unit washer/dryer combination located in the utility closet, there is also a clothes drying rack.
From the condominium turn left at the corner, walk two blocks, and turn left to find a small commerce center for the neighborhood. There are two butcher shops/charcuteries (a charcuterie is similar to a deli), together with small grocery stores that stock liquor, wine, fresh produce, fresh bread and groceries, a pharmacy, a news stand where they carry English newspapers, small cafes and restaurants, a Bar Tabac, and finally the all important post office. There is a public bocci ball park as well. Americans think of it as bocci ball, but actually bocci is played with a bigger ball, it is actually a petanue court. We have the balls at the condominium for you to use. And at the end of our block is the ocean and port. In front of the port, is a small inline skate park and a childrens park with beautiful play equipment. The whole oceanfront is all open to the public and is really one long park. Cannes employs 300 full time gardeners and there are flowers everywhere in the boulevards and at the oceanside park at the end of our block, and then just around the corner. We are located inland one block from the New Port, Port Pierre Canto. Here you will find huge personal yachts from around the world.
After location, location, location, we wanted to be able to walk to all the main areas yet be in a neighborhood; one of the considerations we evaluated prior to purchasing was transportation. We knew we wanted to purchase in a city that was on the main train line. Cannes is a major train depot in France. The trains leave for Nice every ten minutes in the morning, then throughout the day every 15 minutes to half hour. The ride to Nice is 30 to 45 minutes depending on if you take a commuter train or not. From Cannes via train you can travel to Aix en Provence, Marsaille, Nice, Monaco, Italy, virtually all of France and Europe. The train station is about a 10 to 15 minute walk. The bus stop for the bus that goes up and down the Blvd Croisette is at the end of the block right on the Croisette. The taxi stand is three blocks from the condominium. In France you need to go to a taxi stand to get a taxi, so being three short blocks from the taxi stand is a huge convenience. |
