Contemporary home built into natural surrounding of lush forest, 900 feet above the sea. Private and secluded, yet five minutes away from the village of Coral Bay. Breathtaking vistas to Coral Bay, Hurricane Hole, East End, Tortolla, and the Drake Passage. Spectacular sunrises. The tropical plants, flowers and fruit trees surround the house.

The home features stone and tile work. Two bedroom suites with king-size beds open to the full deck with comfortable furniture and magnificent views. The den off the living room can be easily converted into a bedroom with a double-size pull-out futon. The 15 feet sliding glass door in the living room opens to the deck overlooking ever-changing colors of Caribbean. The fully-equipped kitchen is a cook's delight. The large tiled patio area is just steps to a tiled pool deck. Relax beside the pool inlaid with handmade ceramic tiles. This house is informal and comfortable, yet with artistic touch by the owner-artist.
The most famous beaches and National Park trails are within 15 minutes ride. There are hiking trails right from the house, leading to one of the most beautiful Lameshure Bay with great snorkeling. The nearby village of Coral Bay offers restaurants, grocery stores, deli, gas station, bus, video store, snorkeling and boat rentals, as well as horseback riding. Bring your cameras!!! There is a manager on premises who can be of any assistance to guests, yet the privacy of the guests is the prime concern.The house is not childproofed.

  • Having recently split a vacation between the Caneel Bay Resort and Chudali, we feel we are in an excellent position to compare and contrast the two accommodations. Caneel, of course, is dramatically more expensive. Its rooms, while well-appointed, were small and dark in comparison to Chudali's spacious and bright environment. We had a beachfront room at Caneel, but since it was west-facing, our view to the sea was hampered by the direct glare of the sun. Chudali offers beautiful (breathtaking actually) views from the morning sunrise throughout the day. We were unable to use our deck at Caneel during the afternoon because of the heat and direct sunlight, whereas at Chudali the decks were delightful due to the ever-present tradewind breezes from the east which were almost entirely blocked at Caneel Bay. We don't intend this as an indictment of Caneel--it is beautiful and compares favorably to other world class resorts. Rather, we offer this to properly illustrate the beauty and comfort in Chudali, the loveliest villa on St. John.

  • Wow!. That was our collective expression when we arrived at your beautiful house in paradise. We found the road to be great fun. Your house is amazing, and what great details that you added with your pottery. We loved the touches in the pool and in the showers. Waking up to that view was. as you know, waking up to paradise. We had the greatest time and the family grew as a collective whole. The daily big decision was which beach to go to. Maho was the favorite as Caroline could sleep in the car just steps from our beach towels. Brenden, age 5, was a fish as he snorkeled with me everyday. No intimidation or life jacket. As the tans fade the memories are strong, and the desire to return begins on the plane ride home. On behalf of my family, I can't thank you enough for allowing us the share your home.

    Our road has been completely paved now, and it may take away most of the "fun" driwing it. It's safe and easy.

  • My Family and I have stayed several times in Chudali . We have enjoyed the Villa each time . The views are GREAT as is the house and pool . The only reason we do not continue to rent the Villa is because we bought our own house in the same area .
