Very well located, just a couple miles north of the charming, historic, upscale Healdsburg Plaza, is your wonderful Getaway with close access to the Hwy 101. This special home rests at the ‘gateway’ of the famed Dry Creek Valley wine growing region, with dozens of world class wineries, and tasting rooms, and Lake Sonoma Recreational Area just a few minutes further west.
This beautifully renovated 1950’s charming and romantic bungalow, with central heat/AC, has new dual pane windows, oak hardwood flooring, crown molding, and a fabulous Great Room with dining, living, and kitchen areas. At the far end of the house, two lovely bedrooms with comfy queen beds, and a third guest room/den with privacy curtains, is just off the Great Room with a new deluxe queen sleeper sofa, the entertainment center’s 42” Sharp HD TV and Samsung DVD player, vaulted ceilings and a custom, vintage light. A well appointed and beautiful centrally located full bath features a jetted soaking tub with a glass-doored, tiled shower above, and unlimited hot water provided by the new ‘on-demand’ system. The den’s side door opens to a small inside covered porch and the laundry room and 1-car garage combo.
This property is fully fenced; in the front, by a 6’ high redwood fence and 10’ wide gate, deer fencing secures the sides and up the hill. A dozen mature redwood trees line the inside of the fence and provide a ‘breakfront’ from Dry Creek Road, allowing for a beautiful interplay of light and shadow, as the sun shines through, adding a touch of magic to this special place. A night-lit railed stairway leads up the hill, behind the house, to the large ‘lookout’ spa deck with a new 6-person hydrotherapy spa, an outdoor table set for 4 and views through the trees to the vineyards beyond.
The front yard includes a large concrete patio with outdoor table and seating for 8 which transitions to the fern grotto and garden side yard, also with seating area, Webber propane grill, and a small Buddha sits on the fence and filling this space with serenity and tranquility for a little Wine Country ‘Nirvana’. You can also enjoy ‘watching the grapes grow’ in the boutique vineyard next door. Parking is provided by the 1-car garage, as well as plenty of room for parking in the drive. The laundry facility includes a Kenmore Elite Heavy Duty washer and dryer set, a sink, iron and board, and a convenient half bath.
Now let’s enter your ‘home away from it all’! Through the lovely front entry, you are welcomed by the Great Room with dining, living, and kitchen areas. The formal dining room has a lovely dining set for 6, and a beautiful chandelier lighting the table. Just ‘next door’, is the living area with a new comfy deluxe queen sleeper sofa, a couple of arm chairs and a large, square, custom-made wood and wrought iron coffee table. With this home warmed by central heat, also enjoy the romantic flicker of candlelight from the decorative fireplace’s candelabra.
The Great Room is completed by a fabulous Gourmet Kitchen, sure to please the most discriminating chef. Granite countertops and backsplash, abundant underlit oak cabinetry, a built-in workstation with Wifi, and a counter seating area for the ‘backseat chefs’ to contribute to the ‘chicken soup’, all add a special, luxurious quality to this culinary ‘creation station’. The heart of this excellent and well equipped kitchen is the professional stainless steel Viking 4-burner gas range with a convection feature for the oven and downdraft venting.
Other new stainless steel appliances include a Jenn-Air fridge over freezer, a Panasonic microwave, a GE Profile dishwasher, a large double sink with a shutter-blinded box window overlooking the front patio area, and a custom kitchen faucet with pullout wand. Additional amenities include a Cuisinart toaster and coffee maker, plenty of pots and pans, dishware, glassware, flatware, knives, and all the other necessities.
At the back of the home and just off the Great Room, is the third ‘guest room’/den with entertainment area including a rustic bar height table and stools, and the central hallway leads to the full bath and the first and second guest rooms. The two guest rooms have large dual-paned windows to let the beauty of outside, in and with drapes drawn, you can enjoy sleeping in or ‘day napping’. Both bedrooms have luxurious queen-sized sleigh beds with bedroom accessories, and luscious linens and bedding.
The Dry Creek Getaway is a great ‘home base’ for enjoying Healdsburg, a world class destination, and its 3 wine growing regions, the Dry Creek, Alexander, and Russian River Valleys. Many more activities are also available, including canoeing, kayaking, or fishing on the Russian River, Lake Sonoma Recreation Area, marina and boat rentals, the Armstrong Old Growth Redwood Preserve just off of River Road on the way to the Sonoma Coast, and for a day trip, you can also explore the Silverado Wine Trail, from Calistoga to the city of Sonoma. With so much to see and do, you will want to spend as much time as you can, and if you do not have time to take it all in, then come back soon!!!

The house was well equipped, well stocked and we really enjoyed a house instead of a hotel room to hang out when we weren't doing the wine tastings. Good location with the only negative is that Dry Creek is a pretty busy 2 lane road with a bit of road noise. Since the primary outside area is in front of the house (w/BBQ), it was a little distracting but not a huge deal. I hate to say since it was on the main road, it was also easy to navigate your way around so there is a benefit. We started with Jordan Winery and it was only a few miles away with some other good, fun places within a short drive. I would (and probably will) do this house again. The management company qas quite helpful and all we did was call when we arrived to make sure we could get in OK. All in all Life was good in Healdsburg.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+.

We spent a fabulous vacation at the Dry Creek home over Thanksgiving 2011. The property was beautifully maintained and was just the right size for 2-4 people, but certainly big enough for 6. The kitchen was a gourmet cook's dream. All Cuisnart and Viking appliances, high quality cookware, knives, glasses, cutlery and dishes made preparing and serving meals a delight. Having a laundry room was a plus I wish I would have noticed in the description--I wouldn't have packed so many clothes! The proximity to the adorable and friendly town of Healdsburg and local vineyards couldn't be beat. We did venture as far as Calistoga and Napa wasn't much farther if you want to check it out as well--we opted to stay clear of the touristy areas. However, we found the local wineries perfect--and more than we could ever visit in 5 days. Birdsong Property Management was terrific to work with, answering our questions promptly and ensuring we got checked in and were cozy. We highly recommend the local restaurants, Scopa, Willis Seafood and Barndiva (terrific brunch), the Capture Gallery, Thumbprint Wines, the UNTI Vineyards, A. Rafanelli Winery (this small winery had the best Zin of any others in the area), Ridge Winery and a little further out Lancaster Estates and Storybook Winery. Also, a good stop is the Family Wineries just off of Dry Creek Road about 1/2 mile from the house with 5 or more choices all in one parking lot. Don't miss Big John's for great choices of cheese and meats and Costeaux French Bakery--also good for breakfast. All in all a perfect vacation--thank you to Elisabeth, Shante and Katie at Birdsong Property Management--we hope to be back!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway, adventure seekers.
