Welcome! A Home Away from Home Lodging is a great place to relax and enjoy all the comforts of home while on vacation.
Conveniently located just 7 miles north of Seward, Alaska in a quiet wooded subdivision, the home sits on a 1 acre lot and offers privacy and the peace and quiet of a country setting.
A Home Away from Home Lodging was built in 2005 and is a 1340 sq ft home featuring 3 bedrooms and 1.5 baths with an Alaskan motif. Most of the artwork in the house is by Alaskan artists. There are 2 bedrooms upstairs each with a queen bed and large walk-in closets. There is a full bath upstairs. Downstairs is a bedroom with 2 twin beds, living area, dining area, full kitchen, laundry room and .5 bath. It will comfortably accommodate up to 6 people and is perfect for families.
The kitchen is stocked with dishes, pots and pans for cooking. For your convenience there is a supply of complimentary coffee, teas and condiments. Please note however, we are not a B&B and do not provide any food items.
Located on the shores of Resurrection Bay and the Gateway to Kenai Fjords National Park, Seward is one of Alaska's most beautiful and scenic small towns. There is an abundance of recreational activities including Charter fishing for Halibut, Salmon, Lingcod and rockfish, wildlife cruises into Kenai Fjords National Park, hiking, kayaking, horseback riding, flightseeing by fixed wing airplane or helicopter, dog sled rides and sailing. Historic downtown Seward has many shops, restaurants, the Seward Museum and Alaska SeaLife Center.
Seward is only 120 miles from Anchorage and is easily accessible. The scenic drive along Turnagain arm and the Seward Highway is rated as one of America's most scenic drives. As you drive along Turnagain arm watch for beluga whales, mountain sheeep, moose and the bore tide. The Alaska Railroad offers daily roundtrip service from Mid-May through Mid- September. Also during the summer, daily motor coach service is provided by Park Connection.
Come stay with us and enjoy the country setting and watch for wildlife in the backyard. Moose, bear, porcupines squirrels and an assortment of birds can be seen in the area.

The photos do not do this place justice...what a great choice we made to rent this home instead of taking the cruise/rail tour. Things the photos do NOT tell you- the beds are comfortable, the towels are soft and plentiful, the clean fresh smell of the house adds tot he charm, and the extra touches make life easy (TP, paper towels, foil, soap, etc all provided) There is a Safeway in town with a liquor store attached so it is no problem to get stocked up. Prices in Seward for groceries are much mroe expensive than in the lower 48, but considering everything is imported it makes sense. The house listing says "subdivision" but if you come from a suburban area it is not like a subdivision you may be familiar with! We live in a rural area, so we were very pleased with the comfort of having homes relatively nearby but the feel of being isolated. All appliances seem to be new and work great. The only item I would add to the kitchen is a larger frying pan. So many places we've stayed do not have clocks in the bedrooms, but this one does. We also appreciated the variety of pamphlets and restaurant menus available. This place is a WINNER!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.

About the owner: I have been in Alaska for 16 years and have worked in the tourism industry the entire time. I have lived in various parts of the state so can share a lot of information and knowledge about different areas of the state. I love to be outdoors whether it is fishing, hunting, hiking, ATV riding or just sitting outside and watching the wildlife. I have recently taken up archery.
Why the Owner Chose Seward:
I came to Seward for work and fell in love with the mountains, ocean and scenery around Seward. After living in different areas of Alaska- I found that Seward has just about everything.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
This property offers the peace and quiet of a country subdivision. I enjoy being able to get out and walk around the block and just enjoy being outdoors. Often times we have seen moose, bears, porcupines, squirrels and a variety of birds in the area.
The home has an open floor plan so it feels warm and spacious.
