Perfect place to get all the family together or have a retreat! You will not find a cleaner, more welcoming cottage in the area. The Guise Guest Cottage is located less than 500 ft. from Big Turkey Lake, just down the sandy lane. There is a spacious kitchen which has a large eating area with 2 tables and a rolling island that can be moved to accommodate large gatherings. There are 3 couches (can be used for sleeping) and a chair in the living area. The 'Aloha' bedroom has a queen bed, a set of bunkbeds and a bathroom with a shower. The 'Bear 2' bedroom has a queen bed and the 'Blessings' bedroom has 2 twin beds which can be converted into a king bed. Cots are available for rent at $25/wk each. The main bathroom has a tub/shower. You provide your own bath towels and beach towels. Dish towels and dishclothes are provided. Bed linens are provided. There is a washer/dryer available for use. The property backs up against a wooded area/field. Enjoy the evenings with a campfire. Bring your own wood. There is a deck with a table/umbrella, 6 chairs and charcoal grill. Paddle boat use is free, and two adult-sized life jackets are provided. There is dock space available to dock one boat at no additional cost. Launch ramp is near tthe beach. Swimming at the small beach (no lifeguard) is available at no cost. There are some books for all ages on the shelves, satellite TV/DVD/VCR player in the living room and some games. Oh, and don't forget to sign the boat paddle before you leave!
Some fun places to go:
Shipshewanna, about 23 minutes away, the heart of the Amish community. Lots of great shops, great homemade food, indoor waterpark, and an auction/flea market every Tues/Wed.
Angola, about 25 minutes away, has an outlet mall, restaurants, movie theater and Pokagon State Park with hiking and snow skiing.There is a Walmart, Menards, Kohls, Meijer and CVS in Angola.
Auburn, about 25 minutes away also, has a great movie theater, Cracker Barrell, fast food places, Home Depot and a Walmart just off of I-69.
Stroh, just across the lake, has a great pizza place called Pizza Plus, and they have fabulous ice cream. They take cash or checks but no credit cards. The gas station in Stroh has some groceries and will take a credit card if your order is over $10. Stroh also has several places to worship on Sunday.
No pets are allowed at any time.

This is a very nicely kept cottage. It is very clean. Owners are very pleasant. Rental arrangements were easy to complete . Rental agreement and instructions were easy to understand. The cottage is larger then the photos make it look. It is also well furnished, with very little for the renter to bring.Recommended for: Girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, age 55+.

We loved the cottage's atmosphere and had a wonderful time! We had variable weather but were able to be at the lake just about daily, went to nearby Shipshewanna for some shopping and even ate dinner on the deck a few nights. Fishing was a little slow catching just 2 small sunfish the entire week but enjoyed the relaxing time at the beach. What a great little place! Perfect for our 2 families together with great memories made! Thank you for a wonderful place to stay, we'll be keeping your home in mind for a future trips!Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, age 55+.

Spent 5 days at this cottage. Very comfortable. I was amazed at what had been done to this cottage. I was told that it was renovated completely inside by the owners. Fabulous job done. The decor is beautiful. Really enjoyed the time away from home and with family. The owners was very friendly and helpful. Very good rate for a 3 bedroom. Only fallback was it was not on the lake but was very close. My son and granddaughter loved the beach.Recommended for: Girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, age 55+.

My husband and I spent our first anniversary here over the weekend. It's lively, comfortable, offers everything you need and is much more spacious than the pictures show. This cabin was perfect, it was very spacious we had eight people stay and we still had a bunk bed open, the owners were extremely nice. From looking at the pictures we thought the cabin may be a little tight on space but when we walked into the cabin, we quickly found out that we had twice the amount of space that we thought we had. I would highly recommend this cabin and hope to be able to rent this again in the summer.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children.

My teenage daughter and I spent four nights at the cottage in August. It was perfect! We had a campfire every night and my daughter fished off the dock. Everything in the cottage was beautiful and we felt right at home the first day we arrived. One of the best features in my opinion was that we didn't have any cell phone service- that meant that my daughter had to actually talk with me! She couldn't spend every minute texting friends or on Facebook. We took a couple of day trips- into Shipshewana for the flea market, and on a rainy evening into Angola for dinner and movie. I'm already looking forward to our next relaxing stay at Big Turkey Lake!Recommended for: Girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, age 55+.

Our family spent 5 days at this cottage! The pictures DO NOT do it justice!!!! It was absolutely beautiful! Our family had a blast staying there! This cottage was so stunning inside! About the owner: We love coming to the lake to get away! It's always a relaxing experience and it provides us a haven of rest from the demands of our busy careers. We have a large family and they, too, have come to appreciate the lake cottage as a place to come and fish, swim, lay out on the beach or relax by the campfire.
Why the Owner Chose Big Turkey Lake:
Growing up as a young girl, some of my wife's earliest memories were coming to Big Turkey Lake to her grandparent's cottage, which was located just down the road from our current vacation rental. When there was an opportunity to purchase this property, we decided to continue the tradition for our own family and provide them with some of the same memories that have been cherished over the years. Big Turkey Lake, located in Steuben County in northeast Indiana, is one of the numerous lakes in this area, and is located within reasonable driving distance from many large cities in Indiana, Ohio, Michigan and Illinois.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
Our cottage is much larger than the average vacation rental and can easily accommodate a large family or a large group of up to 10 or 12 people. It is perfect for family reunions, church or business planning meetings, retreats, 'girl's' or 'guy's' weekend away or just a romantic get away for two. It is very close to Angola and Auburn (both about 25 minutes away) where you can find most of the necessary conveniences (grocery, hardware, restaurants, movie entertainment, etc.). It is within a reasonable driving distance (2 to 3 hours) from major cities like Indianapolis, Detroit and Chicago. Major medical services can be found in Ft. Wayne, about 45 minutes away.
