We stayed at Granny's River Retreat for 4 nights during spring break, 4 adults and 3 kids. Amanda was very friendly and professional, always quick to respond to emails. The description and photos were very accurate. The cabin is located right off the main road through town on a very quiet street overlooking the river. They were doing construction on the main road, but the sounds of the river drowned out all the noise of the traffic and the workers. The cabin is very charming! The main living/dining area was the original log structure. We would love to know the history of the place - we guessed it may be 100 years old. It was very cozy - relaxing in front of the stone fireplace, we felt like the pioneers in Cade's Cove! A modern kitchen, bathroom and laundry room were added to the first floor, as well as a second story with two bedrooms and another full bath. So it was the perfect mix of old log cabin with modern conveniences. The adults slept upstairs and the kids camped out in the queen bed downstairs. It was a great arrangement for us. The cabin was spotlessly clean. We cooked several meals and found the kitchen very well-equipped with everything we needed. The beds were comfortable, and bathrooms updated and clean. We felt like we were staying in someone's home and not an impersonal vacation rental. The screened porch overlooking the river was very relaxing. The kids loved soaking in the hottub after hiking all day. It was about a 10 minute walk to town, so nice to avoid having to park downtown! We loved Granny's River Retreat and would defintely stay again!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We had a two night stay in this cabin on our way through this area last summer. Everything was as described and more. Could not have been more pleased with the location, the amenities or the owners. If ever in this area again, we will check on the availability of this cabin first.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children.

I can't say enough about this cabin. It was perfect! My parents met me there, and it worked out great! No stairs to climb for them. They slept downstairs in the Queen bed, and had a full bath on the 1st floor, and Washer/Dryer. No need for them to have to go upstairs! The kids had such a GREAT time, walking down a few cabins, and floating down the river, and walking back up a few cabins down. We didn't have to leave the cabin to do this. We enjoyed sitting in the backyard beside the river watching them, fishing, and cooking out on the grill. Everyone slept comfortably, and there was room for everyone! My Mom and the kids said that this was her favorite cabin so far! Activities to keep the kids busy, short walk to trolley, and downtown, and no scary dark and winding roads to get to it. We loved it, and can't WAIT to come back! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants to make some great family memories! We won't forget it!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

The title of this review says it all. Grannie's cabin is very clean, spotless! Cozy... the main part of the cabin is very warm and cozy with all of the old timber walls. The large natural stone fireplace really adds that downhome quality to the room. Nice flatscreen TV, comfy couch, love seat and recliner add to the comfort. There is a queen bed and dining table in this main room, perfect for a single couple staying here. The hottub on the attached porch was hot, clean and ready to use upon our arrival. You will hear the Pigeon River from the porch while soaking in the hot tub, very relaxing. Along with a well stocked, full kitchen on this main floor, stack washer/dryer and full bathroom, there is no reason to go upstairs for anything if there are only two of you. If you have more than one couple, there are two nice sized bedrooms upstairs with queen beds. There is also a full bathroom upstairs. The only minus would be the metal spiral staircase, this could be a burden to someone with mobility problems. This cabin is very close to downtown, within 3 minutes drive time. Or, save the hassel of traffic and paying for parking by taking the trolley to the visitor center in town, less than 10 minute walk to the trolley stop and only 50 cents one way! We also loved that this cabin is pet friendly. We brought our Yorkie and she loved sniffing all of the great smells outside along the river and she also loved sitting by the fire every night. Although the kitchen was ready and waiting for us to stir up meals, we ate out every day.. there are too many great pancake restaurants to pass up for breakfast and too many great steak and seafood restaurants for dinner. We never had a bad meal anywhere in Gatlinburg. Also, every shop keeper, waiter/waitress, we met was very friendly. No bad attitudes here! Renting from the VRBO contact was a breeze. I would highly recommend Grannie's cabin to my friends and would definetely stay again next time in Gatlinburg.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Just returned from several days enjoying the mountains of East Tennessee. This was the first time we rented a cabin -- usually stay in a hotel -- so we were a bit apprehensive. Really loved having the extra room; being able to prepare a few meals in the cabin; meeting neighbors; fishing in the Little Pigeon; and relaxing in the hot tub. Out of the 4 nights we were there, we were visited by bears twice! Very exciting! We'll be back!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

This cabin was more than we could have asked for. The pictures do not do this cabin justice and you definitely will be happy if you are looking for a rustic type old Gatlinburg feel. We only used the downstairs because of the extra queen bed near the living area/fireplace. It was actually like having your own little honeymoon loft with two addt'l bedrooms and a full kitchen for any return visits with the family. We actually slept every night with the back door open listening to the Little Pigeon River. The hot tub was wonderful and came in handy every night after long walks down the strip. We felt so at home that we were sad to leave and will definitely be returning this Ocober for our anniversary. Thanks to Amanda that handled all of our details. As a bride-to-be with 1000 things on my mind, she was always happy to help me in any way she can.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We were so excited when we pulled up to our cabin! It is exactly as the owner describes and the pictures do not do the cabin justice! It is beautiful! The cabin, as well as the property was immaculate. The cabin is 2 story, so the kids had their own space upstairs. The owners were very helpful during our stay. They answered questions and recommended places to eat and places to entertain our children. We spent a whole day at the cabin enjoying the wildlife at the river behind the cabin. Our kids favorite place to eat was The Pancake Pantry, while we enjoyed The Brewery. The kids loved the go-karts at The Track. We all loved the hike to Laurel Falls and the drive through Cades Cove. We even saw a bear! We can't wait to go back and would love to stay at Granny's River Retreat again!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

This is the cleanest cabin I have ever been in. It is just like home. This will become a regular get-away or us. My sister, and best friend and I reserved it for three nights. The sound of the river is so relaxing. It is a wonderful retreat. We liked to sit in the screened in pourch and read. The pictures look just like cabin. Please consider this for your get-away.Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, families with young children, girls getaway.

We stay at Granny's river retreat for one week every May. I would not stay in any other cabin. The cabin is always immaculant and the service is exceptional. The owners are extremely nice and easy to get along with! It is the best week of fishing I have ever experienced, and I have been all over this country. The location is perfect!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
