Everything was perfect! Pictures don't do it justice. It was so nice to be able to take our 7year old boxer!!!!! It really is in walking distance to Gatlinburg. The only bad thing was that Zoe was afraid to go up the spiral stairs. It was not a problem because there was a bed downstairs. Our favorite thing was the hot tub! You could see the river and the lights from Parkway from the hot tub. It was the PERFECT location. It was secluded and private yet really close to town. We loved the sound of the river! Cabin was wonderful!!! We will definitely book this cabin on our next visit to Gatlinburg.

My husband, daughter, son-in-law and small grandchildren stayed for 3 days in this cabin. My grandchildren are ages 4 and twins who are 3. We all had a great time, and found the cabin clean and comfortable. We didn't have any trouble at all with the staircase, even my small grandchildren went up and down with no problem. If we could give this cabin 10 stars we would. The upstairs with the full bath and 2 TVs was perfect for my daughter's family, and in the evening my husband and I had the downstairs to ourselves. The kitchen has everything you would ever need. We highly recommend this cabin.

What a great place to get away! Great location, close enough to town to walk. The sounds of the river right outside the cabin. Cabin was clean and comfortable. Everything and more that you could expect. I do agree with others, the sprial staircase can be a little tricky. Other than that, not one thing can I say anything bad about, other than it rained everyday we were there. We were able to still hang out at the cabin and be quite content. Would highly recommend this cabin, and will be returning ourselves someday. Amanda is a pleasure to work with. Thank you Amanda for everything!

The only bad thing about our trip was that we had to leave! Such a pleasant, clean, comfortable place with lots of character. Clear easy instructions from owner, who promptly answered my questions. LOVED the location - nice pleasant walk to town. My family has visited Gatlinburg frequently for years (20+) and this is my favorite accommodation in all those years! Sure hope Granny's is available for our next trip!

My family and I loved the cabin and the surrounding area. We are not ones to really want to spend more than a few days away from home, but my husband said that he would love to stay at the cabin longer. It was nice to be able to gather as a family ,watch movies ,fish and just generally relax ,without having to be in a cramped hotel room. We had to drive the car uptown but it was not a real chore to do. For some of us who love to get up early it was great to have the one bed downstairs and not disturb the others. Only small inconvenience was the narrow staircase was a challenge to get large suitcases up. We will definitely want to stay again. Getting all the info was really easy. Thanks for a great vacation!

Charming and Peaceful getaway in cabin/river cottage
Charming and Peaceful getaway in cabin/river cottage
My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights for a last minute getaway. The owners were very nice to work with. This was our first time to stay in a cabin/river cottage on the stream and we loved it. The cottage was very clean and we enjoyed the hot tub very much. The rushing of the stream was peaceful and relaxing. There was construction going during the days we were there but it wasn't too bad and the sound of the stream masked alot of it. The weather was gorgeous during our stay so we did not use fireplace. The narrow spiral staircase is hard to go up and down and you cannot carry luggage up so you better use a backpack or a duffle bag to pack your stuff in--- so be aware of this!!! My parents thankfully rented the cabin next door which was all one level. They would have never been able to navigate the staris, we barely could. So if you have mobilty issues or elderly parents or very young children you need to know this. But the cabin is spacious and easy to get in and out of. Level parking on a paved driveway. On a quiet street in a older historical neighborhood. Smoky Heights was a beautiful resort from early 1900s. We fished from the back yard but there is not a way to go down to the stream. You need a fly rod to fish from the bank. You cannot fish on Thursdays and you need a permit unless you have a TN fishing license. (You can go down to the GB visitors center to buy one. ) We did catch some trout on Friday. From the backyard, you do look uphill onto the main road in Gatlinburg and at the back of a realty company and a couple of other businesses. But still that was not bad because of the beauty of the stream. You can hardly hear any traffic from the main road. There are several cottages right next door. If you have several families in your party you can all have your own cottage and still be all together. We grilled out a couple nights and loved it. We also drove over to Cades Cove one day which was lovely. We enjoyed the moonshine tastings and Bubba Gumps. Trout House okay. We loved the updated bathrooms. Rocking chairs on the screened in porch were very comfortable. The only reason we won't give it 4 stars is because of the staircase. There does need to be a better light outside on the screen porch for hot usage at night. There could be more shelf space in the bathroom to put your stuff. In the end, it is a special cabin in a quaint old neighborhood and we ourselves. We had a wonderful and relaxed time. It was just what we needed.

This is the best cabin in the Smokey's. My sister and I stay here during the same week of May every year. This cabin is immaculate. It is decorated very nice. The rushing river is wonderful to listen to. The kitchen is very well stocked with everything you need. You never have to worry if it is clean. Please consider this cabin for your getaway. The pictures are exactly what you get. The owner recommend a cafe in The Old Mill village in Pigeon Forge. It was very good. My husband & I are going back in October.

Clean, Cozy and Convenient!
Clean, Cozy and Convenient!
We stayed at Granny's River Retreat for 4 nights during spring break, 4 adults and 3 kids. Amanda was very friendly and professional, always quick to respond to emails. The description and photos were very accurate. The cabin is located right off the main road through town on a very quiet street overlooking the river. They were doing construction on the main road, but the sounds of the river drowned out all the noise of the traffic and the workers. The cabin is very charming! The main living/dining area was the original log structure. We would love to know the history of the place - we guessed it may be 100 years old. It was very cozy - relaxing in front of the stone fireplace, we felt like the pioneers in Cade's Cove! A modern kitchen, bathroom and laundry room were added to the first floor, as well as a second story with two bedrooms and another full bath. So it was the perfect mix of old log cabin with modern conveniences. The adults slept upstairs and the kids camped out in the queen bed downstairs. It was a great arrangement for us. The cabin was spotlessly clean. We cooked several meals and found the kitchen very well-equipped with everything we needed. The beds were comfortable, and bathrooms updated and clean. We felt like we were staying in someone's home and not an impersonal vacation rental. The screened porch overlooking the river was very relaxing. The kids loved soaking in the hottub after hiking all day. It was about a 10 minute walk to town, so nice to avoid having to park downtown! We loved Granny's River Retreat and would defintely stay again!

We had a two night stay in this cabin on our way through this area last summer. Everything was as described and more. Could not have been more pleased with the location, the amenities or the owners. If ever in this area again, we will check on the availability of this cabin first.

Can't WAIT to go back again! Perfect Cabin!
Can't WAIT to go back again! Perfect Cabin!
I can't say enough about this cabin. It was perfect! My parents met me there, and it worked out great! No stairs to climb for them. They slept downstairs in the Queen bed, and had a full bath on the 1st floor, and Washer/Dryer. No need for them to have to go upstairs! The kids had such a GREAT time, walking down a few cabins, and floating down the river, and walking back up a few cabins down. We didn't have to leave the cabin to do this. We enjoyed sitting in the backyard beside the river watching them, fishing, and cooking out on the grill. Everyone slept comfortably, and there was room for everyone! My Mom and the kids said that this was her favorite cabin so far! Activities to keep the kids busy, short walk to trolley, and downtown, and no scary dark and winding roads to get to it. We loved it, and can't WAIT to come back! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants to make some great family memories! We won't forget it!
