ZOLLER POINT
Jim and I have decided to share our log cabin with others. We want to be able to give others an opportunity to share a bit of our dream. Therefore, we have placed it in the rental pool at the Retreat of Artesian Lakes. The home can be rented on a nightly, weekly or monthly basis. Renters will have access to all the amenities at the Retreat of Artesian Lakes.
The property is about a 70 minute drive from Houston. It is located 18 miles ENE of Cleveland, Texas in the small town of Romayor, Texas.
Nestled in the magnificent East Texas Piney Woods on a point surrounded on three sides by the peaceful waters of Sycamore Lake, Zoller Point offers secluded privacy and breathtaking views. Wildflowers, magnificent birds, deer, armadillo, raccoons, squirrels, turtles and alligators are often seen.
Our Log Cabin Home Features
Zoller Point, our 2829 square foot log home, has four large, luxurious bedrooms with the master bedroom and the guest bedroom downstairs. There are two additional bedrooms upstairs on opposite sides of the huge game room loft. One king sized bed, 3 queen sized beds and 2 twin sized beds, will comfortably sleep 10 people. Three full bathrooms are for your convenience. The two story family room, dining room and kitchen open into each other and make up the central living area of this beautiful home. There is also a full laundry room with abundant storage.
The loved and cherished custom built log cabin has a covered deck which completely surrounds the comfortable, charming home. Fabulous views are enjoyed from all four sides of the 1275 square foot porch. You’ll immediately drift into a relaxation that is so hard to find these days. It’s easy to enjoy yourself at Zoller Point and have the best getaway, not too far from home.
Activities
There is something for everyone in the family to enjoy. Why don’t you sit by the crackling wood burning fireplace or sit on the porch swing and watch the magic of the pure lake and immense trees? Then take a bath in the warm soothing waters of the whirlpool tub as the aches in your muscles melt away.
If you’re more on the adventurous side, why don’t you take a hike through the woods and discover what nature has to offer or take a fishing trip to catch bass, trout, or catfish? When cold enough, rainbow trout are available, perfect for the fly fisherman. Many 5 plus pound largemouth bass have been caught. At least two fishing poles are provided if you forget your own.
A Jon boat, ocean kayak, oars and life jackets are provided for your personal use.
Zoller Point also offers volleyball, badminton and horseshoes on your own personal sand courts. There is a play set which includes swings, glider, rock wall, slide, picnic table and a 3 story fort. Presently one adult bicycle is available. There is some other sports equipment available.
You will have full access to the Resort of Artesian Lakes where you can take a ride down the waterslides into the swim lake just down the road or swim in the sparkling saltwater pool with abundant waterfalls. Enjoy the wonderful hot tub tucked into a cave next to the pool.
Game time is important. A large game table for playing cards or building puzzles is in the loft. Various games and puzzles are provided. Another game table is found in the family room where two can enjoy the challenges of chess, checkers, or backgammon.
Assorted books and magazines are also available for leisurely reading.
However, if you’re one that can’t go a day without the joys of technology, you can spend time enjoying the best of both worlds. Relax in front of your big plasma television with satellite and DVD player. A number of movies are provided. Another television is provided in the loft where video games can be played. It also has satellite and a DVD player.
There is also a computer with Internet and a printer provided. You’re welcome to bring your own laptop since wireless is available for your use.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2008
About the owner: The Zoller Family Born on an Indian Reservation, Meg grew up in Wyoming, Nebraska, West Virginia, Ohio and Texas. She was graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology and minors in both Physics and Sociology. Her early expertise was in geophysics, oil field and news publication. She then had a career as a Petroleum Geologist in Texas and Louisiana. Jim is a native Texan who graduated with a degree in engineering from the University of Texas. A successful Petroleum Operations Engineer for two Houston companies, Jim specialized in Texas and Louisiana. His interests include football, basketball, baseball and fishing. Meg and Jim met while working for the same oil company. Unfortunately, the field had its problems in the mid 80’s and, like many others, they both lost their jobs. They used the time off to take a “road trip” and figure out what they wanted to do with the rest of their lives. When they returned home to Texas, they started buying homes to “Fluff & Flip.” Meg obtained her real estate license in order to save money in buying and selling their properties, and a few years later Jim obtained his with the intent to “temporarily” assist her. Their business flourished and with Jim’s devoted assistance and encouragement, Meg became a Top Producer in the Bellaire area. Over the next few years Jim became more involved in operations and sales. They decided a team approach would better allow them to service their clients, and so developed The Zoller Group of Keller Williams Realty. They have been top producers for many years. Meg and Jim have two beautiful and intelligent daughters, and they are extremely proud of them both. The Zollers immensely enjoy spending time in the country, at the beach and traveling. Their household includes a Pomeranian and an American Eskimo.
Why the Owner Chose Romayor:
My husband, Jim, and I have taken our girls tent camping at Chain-O-Lakes Resort and Conference Center(now it’s named The Retreat at Artesian Lakes)since they were babies. We started renting the log cabins at the resort when the girls insisted they needed indoor plumbing. This has been our retreat for about 24 years. We used to sit in the porch swing on the cabin’s covered deck overlooking the lake watching the many different bird species, raccoons, squirrels and occasionally armadillos. The drops hitting on the metal roof would mesmerize us when it rained. The actual beauty of the East Texas forest is so gorgeous and makes our way of life so tranquil. The relaxation has always been awesome!
Jim and I would often comment that we should ask the owner of the resort if we could buy one of his cabins for our own use.It was a dream of ours to someday own one.
A few years ago when we visited the the Resort,we noticed a computer on the desk showing lots for sale. There was a map on an easel showing where they were located. We walked the lots, then called the owner and asked for more information. He gave us a full tour of the property.Jim and I knew right then and there that we were going to be buying one of the lots.
After looking at all the lots. . .we walked onto one that was perfect for us.We wanted a lot of privacy, to be surrounded by as much water as possible and for the property to be heavily wooded. Our lot was different from any others that we had seen.It had oaks, fruit trees, pines, grapes, cactus . . . so many different trees. But what I think really sold us was the fact that not only did it have the look of the East Texas,it also gave you the eerie look of Louisiana swamps due to the cedar trees and moss hanging from the trees. The huge white birds with wing spans of several feet glided over the water in a carefree manner that added to the feelings we got from being on this particular piece of land.
Needless to say . . .we bought it and built our dream.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
I am using information provided in a brochure for the Artesian Lakes community. The words are very desciptive.
It happens just as soon as I turn onto the gravel road. I take a deep breath and say to myself: "Time to slow down and take in the regenerative power of Mother Nature; time to re-create myself."
"Carve out a special time for you and your family."
You and your guests will have access to the amenities in the adjacent Resort at Artesian Lakes . . .fabulous swimming pool, stable and gourmet dining at Hilltop Herb Farm Restaurant. Take out meals are available with advance notice.
This is a natural world just waiting for you . . .fish, kayak, canoe or boat with electric trolling motor . . . enjoy catch and release bass and catch and keep catfish. . . horseback ride, hike on beautiful nature trails that weave through expansive common areas of forests and fields.
The private central water system is fed by one of the purest and most secure water sources in North America.
This is a gated community and there is security on site. . . offering peace of mind.
This home is located in a community designed to make the impact on the environment minimal, but on the psyche. positively transformational. It is the place where you and your family can relax, have peace of mind, recreate . . . and create your other life that transports you far away without traveling many miles.
The play of sunlight on the water . . . the brilliant flash of a cardinal taking flight . . . fresh air tinged with the scent of pine . . . a soothing symphony of birds and crickets and wind in the trees and water lapping against the shore. It is here that you'll escape to that special place in your heart.
Our log home offers you modern conveniences you are accustomed to in a gorgeous, pristine and natural country setting.
Meg, Jim, Kristin and Jamie Zoller hope you enjoy Zoller Point as much as we do. It is an honor and a privilege for us to share our log home with you.
