  We held our annual staff retreat at the property in Zimmerman. It was perfect, a getaway that was close but felt like a getaway. On a beautiful lake and due to an unseasonably warm Fall we were able to hold our afternoon meeting for all 18 of us on the deck over looking the lake. The chalet is HUGE! Easily accomadating all of us with room for more if needed We hope to return next year, love this property!

  My cousins and I had a great time at your beautiful house again. Plenty of beds for everyone, and lots of room to play. Love the pool next to the lake! We spent all day lounging around the pool. Heaven! We will definitely be back.

  We love this house! It is so great for our large group of girls, lots of space to be together, but places to chat in smaller groups, and a big kitchen to prepare meals in together. The pool is fantastic, and all the fun toys, poker and pool table, darts and ping pong, etc, are great fun, as is the tiki bar and big living room. We will be back!

  We recently stayed at the Chalet for our yearly family get together. Overall it was great! We had 22 people which included 12 children (5 months-12 years) and we had more than enough room. The pool was a main attraction(it was a little dirty when when we arrived, but the owner quickly had someone out to take care of that as soon as we let them know) The kids were a little disappointed that that there wasn't a diving board as is shown in the pictures and the slide did not have the water hooked up, so you manually had to splash water onto the slide before anyone went down to avoid getting stuck. That didn't stop them though. They spent most of the week in the pool or behind the boat on the tube in the lake. The bar and grill located across the lake had really good food. This isn't a 5 star resort, but it was perfect for a family with lots of little kids to have room to spread out and enjoy the time together without worrying about every little thing. I would definitely recommend this to friends and family looking for a large place to gather for a getaway. Thanks for a great week with family!

Also thank you for the review and the feedback, The insurance company asked us to pull the diving board for safety reasons but we were not aware it was still in the picture, we have pulled that photo and will replace it. we are glad the maintenance crew could quickly cleaned up the bottom drain of the stuck leaves and get the pool back to order quickly, As an owner we appreciate it when someone gives us an opportunity to make their stay great. thanks mike and marion.

• Great Getaway

  We just finished a great week with our whole family gathered together at the Chateau. Both kids and adults enjoyed all the things there were to do in and around the house. Large rooms for groups to gather and multiple areas for people to get away for intimate visits. We maxed out for several days with 30 in out group and all the bathrooms and bedrooms still made us feel welcome and comfortable. Parking gets a little tight with 11 cars and a couple watercraft trailers at the peak, but even that was workable. The swimming pool was great with plenty of outdoor seating and room to throw "sacks" down on the lower deck in the shade. We were unanimous in choosing this site to set a date for next summer. Even thought about giving a bad review to try to keep the place for ourselves. :) Richard

  Our family of 17 had a wonderful time on our vacation. The children thought the game room was great and even greater was the fishing for those who wanted to fish from the dock. There was enough seating areas, bedrooms and bathrooms for everyone to enjoy. It will be a family vacation we will always remember. The question was asked, "When can we stay here again?"

  We recently rented the Zimmerman house and were very happy with our decision to do so. The home is very large and unique. We had 8 people stay for a corporate business retreat and had plenty of room, privacy, and a wonderful view. Perfect for several families to rent for a vacation, or for a unique corporate getaway. The owners were helpful and accomodating, and next time i have a group staying in the Minnesota area I will be looking to rent this property again. Thanks for a great time.....

• BEWARE!

  BEWARE of signing rental agreement that does NOT refund your Deposit, even though the house is not as promised!! Our family rented this home on Memorial weekend for our once-a-year get-together. There are 18 of us, of which 8 are children 8 yr & under. We rented this house because of the beautiful heated pool, which we paid extra for in advance. When we arrived (earlier than planned) the maid was still cleaning, so was understandable if a couple of things were missed. (One shower & some beds). That was not a big problem. This house is older than what it appears to be in the pictures & is in need of some minor repairs. Our huge disappointment came when we saw the pool....the bottom of the pool was covered with "crud". Two maintenance men were trying to vacuum it up, which only stirred things up & made the water black!! They finally gave up & told us the filters were plugged & pool was not working. When we called the owner, he told us that a storm had come through 2 nights before & left debri in the pool, but not to worry, that the pool was perfectly "safe" to swim in!! He stated that he would try to get a "pool man" in to fix the next day, but couldn't make any promises, since it was a holiday weekend. After visiting with our family, we called the owner to say that we would like our money back, since the pool was the major reason we rented this house. He reluctantly agreed to refund our money, saying it was the "right thing to do". We did not discuss refunding the Deposit, as we figured that if we left the house in the same condition that we found it in, our Deposit would be refunded as well. Took us 3 wks to get the refund, but have just learned also that we will not get the deposit back because of something in the rental agreement. Wonder what it says in the rental agreement about the owner not living up to HIS promises?? We now were faced with the dilemma of finding a place for 18 of us to stay on a Holiday weekend!! Not exactly what we planned for our vacation either! This house is over-priced for the condition it is in! Would not recommend it to anyone!

  Owner response: As an owner we are greatful they were civil and respectful when we spoke. We called to let them know we had a pool issue that was going to be solved.It was storming & rained for days(there was over 5 in, in one day alone)& a trash barrel of chopped leaves was knocked by the storm into the pool.The pool people checked the pool & we were told it was safe for swimming.They asked if a son flying in could come 1 hr early, 3pm, and we agreed, he showed up at 11:15 am(5 hrs early).At 11:45 the other families showed up &our cleaning crew was stressed by families filling the house while it was being cleaned made it difficult to finish the house.While the pool ppl were working in the rain, someone was yelling at them even after they were told they were not the owners.They scolded our maintance man for bringing in a new set of chairs for the sunroom. yet our cleaning crew said the renters were friendly to them.After 3 hours the pool ppl told us there was an issue that would need to be fixed so we called and found a solution that would get it taken care of that evening (even though it was pouring rain it would be done).They had an option to have it done all night while they slept or the next day.When we called them & discussed options to fix this.They said they would prefer to leave.We informed them that the pool would be done but because of the heavy rains and filter issue we couldn't guarantee a fully heated pool for approx 24 hours.At that time they claimed there were 6 beds not changed and two dirty bathrooms & their grandchildren couldn't swim in a cold pool.We agreed to them leaving even though the pool was solveable & now 3 weeks later they tell us it was only 1 bed &1 bathroom not finished (because of their early arrival).Now it changed?All beds were changed as we were personally @ the house the day before they arrived & we personally checked the beds/bathrooms.After they left our cleaning crew had to clean up their mess.When issues come up we do the best we can to satisfy because its the right thing to do.We were concerned about the temperment of the renters so we agreed to them leaving.They backed out of the contract even though the issues were quickly solved and we would have compensated them for the hassle.We held to our end, but they didn't want what we offered, in fairness thats why we held the deposit but refunded the rental fee.We love it when families tell us about their fun get togethers.We call it "your german grandmothers great vacation home".

  This was our second time, so that tells you we like this spot on the planet. We are a group of 11 couples that like to hand out together. Many places to socialize and deepen our relationships in a retreat like setting. Great place.

  We had a wonderful time staying here last weekend - there were 14 of us. This home was very comfortable with plenty of beds and so many bathrooms! The best part was Zimmerman is only 30 minutes from our homes but we felt like we were in a Country Fairy Tale Estate! We went to the bar down the street Friday night for Ladies Night - free drinks - woo-hoo! The next day we shopped at the quaint little gift shops and drank green beer at the American Legion - for St. Patties Day. We played a new board game Quelf and when one of our girlfriends drew an action card to go hide for hide & seek - it took us a long time to find her - this house is huge! Good thing she had the sense to bring her glass of wine with her! The lake is nice; we watched the beavers dining on fish on Saturday and then the ice went out on Sunday morning. I loved too how we discovered Torii Hunters signature on one of the bathroom walls - he was one of my favorite Twins players. This house is an ideal spot for a family reunion.

  This was a fun place to be with friends for the weekend. Plenty of space, plenty of bathrooms. The property description and photos were accurate. It was easy to work with the owners - they were very nice. I would certainly recommend this place to others. We are guessing summer time would be REALLY fantastic, but thoroughly enjoyed the winter stay. Part of the charm is that it is "stuck in time"...Like being at your Bavarian grandma & grandpa's lake home in 1980!? :) I'm a neat-freak: the place was not dirty, but it wasn't deep cleaned either. Finding light switches was challenging at times. The people who stayed there before our group didn't take their trash out so 1.) we had limited trash and recycling space, (at least there were multiple bins) and 2) we were asked to take out the trash Sunday morning before leaving - which included the trash of the previous renters. We rolled 3 or 4 big trash bins to the end of the driveway before leaving. Not a big deal to us, but still... Overall it was a great experience. We loved the game room, especially Drifters Cove! We would go back.

  We have a family of 26 with 13 kids ranging from 11-1 years of age. We loved staying at this home. Just about every couple had their own bedroom and bathroom and the kids loved the "bunk" room upstairs where they could all sleep in the same room. We all enjoyed having the lake so close as well as the game room downstairs. The owners were easy to get in touch with and we appreciated their hospitality in working with us. We hope we can stay again in the future.

  I rented this place for a Girls Summer Getaway and our group of 20 girls had a great weekend! This place is huge and has fun decorating surprises in every room. The pool is fantastic with a great view of the lake and the photos don't do the place justice, there is so much more to see! The place was also very clean. We would love to go back for another girls weekend in the future!

  Great property - beautiful lake view. Description and photos are accurate. This property was clean. Customer service was excellent. Owner left us menus and contact info for a couple of good local restaurants so we were able to call local restaurants to deliver lunch. We had a group of 10 for business meeting and used the 4 season porch for our meeting. Internet was good in most areas of the house.

  Recommended for: Families with young children, girls getaway.

  Owner response: Our home now has updated internet that has a much stronger WiFi signal. We have added things throughout the year and will continue to update and add more during the winter. We have added such things as a BluRay player, air hockey table, a flat screen TV and more. We look forward to our 2012 season and hope you join us!
