We rented this home due to its beauty and the mountain views as shown in the website photos and the descriptions. We also rented this home due to the lovely conversation we had when we called to reserve it. :-) But what we didn't anticipate was for the location, views, and the home to be even MORE than our extremely high expectations!! Everything about this house was perfect-- HUGE, well-equipped kitchen, working fireplace, lovely appointed bedrooms, tons of space upstairs to sleep more guests and some could even stay on the floor if necessary upstairs, a beautiful living-room/dining area that became our gathering place throughout the weekend. The views of the mountains were breathtaking, especially since the time of year we went, most of the leaves were off the trees. The stars were so bright, it felt that we could touch them! And incredible hiking trails were, indeed, extremely nearby! Some of the loveliest hiking in the southeast. But there is more. The local property manager for the owners was courteous and personable and would have taken care of our every need --had we even had a need during the weekend! The owners were very professional in the way they managed the down payment for the reservation and paying off the balance. We felt well-cared for in the way they attended to business. Once we saw the home, we knew why they are so particular and careful. It is a home with lovely furnishings and deserves to be taken care of by anyone who is allowed to enjoy it! We want to thank you over and over for an experience that exceeded our expectations in every way. We cannot wait to return, possibly for a spring visit, but certainly for another fall bliss experience. We'll be sending you some photos of our favorite views from the HUGE porch!! Namaste. And thank you.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
Owner response: Dearest Linda and Friends Your words expressing gratitude for our dedication to service is the highest compliment we could hope for. The entire staff of Above The Clouds also appreciates having guests as considerate and kind in your dealings as you were with all of us! Thanks for leaving your love behind. Whatever season the doors will be open.

Our group of three couples had a week of quality rest and relaxation in this wonderful home, known as Above The Clouds. The house itself was very comfortable and well-appointed, and we all enjoyed our private suites and baths. The kitchen was equipped with all the tools the "chefs" needed to prepare meals or a rotating basis. There were many vendors of fresh vegetables between Caesar's Head and nearby Brevard, which also has a great deal of charm and also all the conveniences and services any visitor is likely to need. The area has an abundance of waterfalls - some of the spectaclar - which provide ample opportunities for hiking and photographing. We literally "lived" in the great room and the spacious screen porch, both of which have plenty of cozy seating - and with the wide sliding glass doors in the open position, the two areas virtually become one. The dining area's large table had plenty of places to accommodate a large group, and the dinner company that visited us on occasion oo-ed and ah-ed about the house and its surroundings. Which leads us to the site itself: a breathtaking view only begins to describe what we enjoyed all day, every day . . . and it's what we all agree is part of what we miss the most now that we've headed back to our respective realities. We can only imagine how the spectacular scenery must change with every season - sounds like we need to make it a goal to find out! As regards the landscaping, it is lovely and substantial, with granite steps to each terraced area of the yard. The grounds are artistically filled with healthy examples of native plants: oakleaf hydrangeas, huge hostas, lilies and other flowers, and several "little gem" magnolias (which bloomed constantly during our stay). A review of the property would be incomplete if we failed to mention the experience of working with VRBO and particularly with the owners: they could not possibly have been more pleasant, helpful and gracious. If you are seeking a get-away in a spacious, lovely home surrounded by startling natural beauty, in our view you would be hard pressed to find an option the equal of Above The Clouds.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Above The Clouds thanks you for your most gracious and articulate expressions of your experience and the complimentary prose most especially naming our garden residents. We look forward to helping you manifest your season visits into a reality!

It was so beautiful to see Table Rock mountain 20 miles away and Greenville, SC 30 miles away, right from the spacious living room and screened porch. This unique house combines old-school cabin charm with modern, up-to-date appliances and comfort. (Loved the cool Master Bath!) Each night was spent looking at the gorgeous, unending expanse of lights down below and enjoying a cozy fire in the fireplace. Days were spent hiking the trails to nearby waterfalls and browsing the unique local pottery shops. There was lots of room for our group to spread out too. Note: this house is truly on the side of the mountain. The last five miles up 276 and the driveway are a "white-knuckle" experience, but this is a neat house and definitely worth the trip! It was a wonderful place to get our college kids (school in Greenville) together for Easter. The outdoor chapel at nearby Camp Greenville is awesome. The kitchen was well stocked and the dining room table is huge- we had some great meals. Thanks for letting us be the first to share your this special home. -Charleston, SCRecommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, pet owners, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: You will always be our very first and special guests! Thank you for leaving your imprint and for embracing the exact essence of this unique destination known as The Wilderness Bridge. A connection of place from our home to yours.

What a find! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this very comfortable and clean mountain retreat. The views are fabulous and the living area has lots of open space (and a lovely porch) overlooking the amazing scenery. The driveway is steep but the house itself sits on a flat area and one level makes it easy to go from room to room. The location is so convenient (we hiked straight out of the back door and the Caesar's Head Visitors Center is a short walk away) yet secluded so that you feel like you're in the forest. We took the short drive into Brevard and Greenville is so close too just down the mountain.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, pet owners, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you for finding us! We take great comfort knowing each and every guest will make a special connection to this hidden gem, so close and yet so far away. And yes that driveway surely adds to the mystique gladly, once you arrive the depth disappears the vastness begins! Please come again

This house is absolutely perfect for the family or group who wants plenty of space and lots of beautiful outdoor fun. We had a total of 4 adults and one child and we had room to spare. We never turned on the TV once. We read by the fire place, played games, hiked, walked, etc. Totally relaxing time. We hit all of the close by hiking trails(2-15 minute drive/hike from house depending). The towns close by are quaint and not over-commercialized. Really just can't say enough about this unique home. We hope to return. BTW, we were there during the big snow of 2011 so I can't imagine how beautiful a spring or fall would be in this house.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, pet owners, families with young children, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you for describing the magic of our home! Your experience mirrors what we hope to express as the intangible reality of this beautiful place. Yes spring and fall is beautiful, and summer a true escape!
