We had a gathering of artists at Laughing Bear Lodge and I think we started planning our next trip back within the hour. We met the owner and she graciously gave us at our of her lovely home. The lodge is fantastic. We enjoyed a fire at the fire pit the first night and one inside on our last night. The furnishing were lovely and there was plenty of room for us to spread out. We rarely even went downstairs to the fantastic game room. Although we did have a little fun on the road race video game. We couldn't get over the racket ball court. I am sure it would be a great vacation spot for a family or two or three. We had 15 and I think we all decided that was a good number. Any larger and there may have been a wait at the bathrooms. The kitchen was well supplied and it was great having all of the refrigerator/freezer space. We did a take a little trip into blue ridge. There were a lot of nice little stores. We never did eat out so I can't report on that. One of our braver members went zip lining. She had fun but I don't think she was overly impressed. I would like to come back in the summer with my family who I think would enjoy the game room and the water. As I said we all hope to return and we had many laughs at Laughing Bear Lodge.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, people with disabilities, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

Our family of 24 ages 1 to 83 years had a wonderful never to be forgotten 4 night stay at Laughingbear.. From the friendly and helpful attention of the owner and caretaker, to the premium quality beds, superb kitchen, and unbeilievable 12,000 sq ft bottom level entertainment and fitness complex, to the floating down the river on rafts, there is something for everyone. The ability to have all 24 under one roof to share kodak and memory moments was a real blessing. We reommend laughingbear lodge to anyoneRecommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

What an awesome week spent with family and friends. I cannot wait to return. The experience exceeded all expectations. The pictures (although beautiful) do not do this place justice. Absolutely wonderful!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

Many thanks, Leslee, for making our group's stay at Lauging Bear Lodge such an amazing experience! You were an absolute dream to work with! Your attention to detail and your friendly, professional manner made for such a pleasant experience. I absolutely can't say enough great stuff about you or your lodge. Our ladies (25 in all) had a fabulous weekend staying at LBL and are already asking if we can come back again next year! The listing on vrbo was extremely accurate and the pictures were great! LBL is such a rare "gem" because it can house so many people in a clean/well-maintained environment that feels more like a cozy home than an actual "lodge". Our ladies loved the comfortable furnishings, well decorated/supplied bedrooms, extensive kitchen, and warm/inviting living/dining area. We also had lots of fun taking advantage of all the perks the basement offers: racquetball, workout room, arcade games, etc. The grounds at LBL are absolutely beautiful and the stream running through the property is so serene. We absolutely, positively couldn't have picked a more perfect place for our ladies' retreat! Thanks so much for EVERYTHING you did to make our stay at LBL so enjoyable!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Excellent housing choice! The listing description was accurate regarding the location and the photos accurately reflected the rental’s appearance and amenities. Leslee was very pleasant to deal with and the property was clean and well-maintained. I would definitely recommend this property to a friend/relative/colleagues and anyone else who wants to have a good time. Great games at the basement and we hiked nearby trails.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Rates
$680 per night/10 people, plus taxes, cleaning fee and security deposit for a 3 night minimum stay. Peak season is considered Memorial Day thru Labor Day, Christmas, and Thanksgiving and a 6 night minimum base rate is required. All holidays outside of peak season require 4 night minimum base rate. 2 night minimums will be considered with the base rate beginning at $1,500 for 2 nights, 10 people + taxes and fees.

About the owner: LaughingBearLodge was our home for 6 years and when we moved out in June of 2011 we left everything except our clothes and family pictures. So you are visiting our home where we raised our children, laughed, loved, cried and made our special family memories. It is our blessing to share it with other families and our prayer is that you find it more than just a rental........it really is a home with a heart!
