The cottage was exactly as pictured, the lake was beautiful, the paddleboat and kayaks were definite "hits". The area is definitely beautiful! Deer, turkeys, and ducks were daily visitors to the cove. The cottage was exceptionally clean and Ingles (local grocery) and Larkins on the Lake (restaurant) were conveniently close and definitely worth going to. We tried the local horseback ride and the zip line was a lot of fun too, but we spent most of our time relaxing and fishing from the paddleboat and off the dock. We had a wonderful time. The owners were extremely helpful and quickly responded to any questions we asked. I would highly recommend the cottage for a relaxing get-away.

Perfectly relaxing and yet plenty to do! The cabin was clean and very functional. With two kids (ages 8 and 10), the facilities were perfect. The loft was a slice of heaven for the kids. The lake faces west so the mornings are shaded and perfect for reading, playing on the dock and relaxing. Afternoons spent sightseeing. Home for dinner on the grill and sunset watching. Great time had by all!

Have stayed here twice and always think of it when we yearn for the mountains. Gorgeous view of the sunsets and wildlife abounds here. We fish right off the deck and have had several fish dinners from the fish we caught there. Fun!!!! And, the paddle boats are a means of visiting all the neighbors!

This cabin is great for a girls' weekend or a romantic getaway. The driveway and landscape are great compared to the steep layout of most rentals on Lake Lure. It is just 10 minutes from Ingles for whatever is needed. It is home to the most beautiful sunset view on the lake that can be seen from the dock or from the comfort of indoors through the big picture windows looking over the lake..

We have stayed at Papa Bob's 3 times and have absolutely loved every minute of our stays! It's such a peaceful, beautiful place. The cabin is well stocked, clean, and vey cozy. We enjoy visiting Chimney Rock and just driving around and enjoying the scenery. Our children have fun playing in the lake and fishing. This is not a fast paced vacation jam packed with stimulating activities (i.e. Myrtle Beach!).....it's truly a relaxing place to be to slow down and get away from our "on the go world"! A wonderful place to enjoy and marvel at the natural beauty that God created!

What a wonderful stay we had at Papa Bob's. The location is amazing and the views are truly breathtaking. We had perfect weather and truly had the most peaceful and relaxing vacation ever. The ducks and geese were an unexpected bonus and they were well fed throughout out stay. I can't wait until we can stay here again. We really enjoyed the paddle boat. Papa Bob brought over some delicious apples and peaches. We loved swimming in warm water. We spent way too much time in Asheville and not nearly enough time tucked away in this piece of paradise. We'd love to come back and spend more time just relaxing on the lake.

What a special place with the best view in the cove! We got engaged her - out on the lake in the pontoon paddle boat at sunset... how simply romantic. thank you for sharing your special oasis with us. The flowers and juicy peaches were such a nice touch.

The cabin just perfect for a couple and the views are to die for. So many things to do here. We used all of your toys and really took advantage of the lake. We would normally go out for dinner every night but we wanted to enjoy the cabin as much as possible, so many dinners were on the back patio. By the way we would like to know where to buy Old Town Otters. We kayak a lot but normally stay away from 'sit inside' kayaks. But these track well and are not 'tippy'. We will be back!

The word of the weekend was WOW!!! Everything was great. We caught 110's of bluegill. We also loved the groundhogs. I actually caught one of the little ones, took a picture and let him go. We loved the paddle boat.

How can you say a little piece of Heaven. I was stressed out to the max. After 10 minutes on the deck and a cup of coffee all of that was gone. I would and am giving it two thumbs up. The paddle pontoon is absolutely unbelievable. FUN, FUN, FUN.

My family had a fabulous time at the cabin. Our favorite things were the view, the mornings, the sunsets, the boat, the kayaks, playing in the water, playing games, trying to catch the turtle, reading on the dock, swimming, fishing, floating, going to Chimney Rock, the paddle boat.

What a view! We have done all the things we said we would do - fishing, floating around the cove, kayaking, and sitting out on the dock until the sun went down. Tom, Jenny, & the boys were great. We could not have asked to meet nicer people and we had the privledge of metting "Papa Bob" himself. What an interesting man! We could have chatted with him ofr hours. We don't want to pack up and leave this tranquil spot! We will certainly book Papa Bob's again!

What a fantastic destination for our honeymoon! Papa Bob's is exactly what we anticipated and we thank you so much! We had to go buy an additional memory card for the camera! It has been an awesome 2 weeks! Everything was great, especially the view. It was so relaxing eating breakfast on the deck and then going fishing. One of our favorite parts was the wildlife. There were turtles, fish, squirrels, and my favorite the ducks. We fed them everyday. The swimming was also great and the kayaks, canoe, & paddleboat were loads of fun. I hope that we come back here someday.

We loved Papa Bob's Cabin! It was the perfect spot for us to celebrate our 39th anniversary. The view is magnificent. We enjoyed the swing, the canoe, & kayaks. We dined on the deck and felt so blessed. And yes, we did see God displayed in the whole of Sunset Cove. His handiwork is awesome!

Papa Bob's cabin on Lake Lure was ideal for our family. Our two boys - ages 8 and 5- had a wonderful time in the water. The canoe, kayak and floats were put to great use during our short stay. The views from the long dock were spectacular. Inside the cabin, while the loft was a hit with our boys; the washer and dryer were a hit with mom and dad. Our honeymoon! We had agreat time. This is the PERFECT honeymoon cottage. We live 30 minutes away but feel like we were in a whole different world. the view of the mountains, the leaves turning, the quietness, the shimmering of the light off the lake, all made this a special time. Quiet mornings paddling my kayak down millionaire row. Tonight we layed on our lawn chairs by the volleyball net and watched the meteor shower. Way cool! While padlding the canoe this morning we saw a bald eagle. Spectacular sunsets. God has truly blessed me here in this little cottage on the Lake.

We have hiked CHimney Rock Park and shopped. We drove to Sliding Rock in Pisgah National Forest, a favorite spot of ours from years ago. Our son Connor (5 1/2) loved the natural river slide but was frozen solid - water was 48. Saw Looking Glass Falls too. We rented a little 14 foot boat at "Adventure" down the road for a very reasonable price and toured the lake for 2 hours. We checked out horseback riding at Riverside Riding Stables. It was a good trail ride for a good price. We recommend calling first for reservations. We met Papa Bob today when he came to mow the grass. Quite a character. It was interesting to hear the place's history. On our last morning Connor said "We're the sad family... I want to stay hear forever". We have had an amazing time. I know we'll be back.

Daily kayak trips,swimming and fishing separated us gently from the hectic pace of our lives in Eastern N.C. The mountain view is outstanding. I eagerly awoke to sit on the deck with a cup of coffee and soak in the calmness of the lake. Even my 15 year old daughter would get out of bed to join my wife and myself for the early serenity of paddling to different points on Lake Lure. The cabin had everything we needed. The deck and dock were really where we spent most of our time. Most of our vacations are spent chasing sight seeing venues. This one was spent as a family on Lake Lure.

Early morning swimming and twilight kayaking are the best. We had a great time, so did the fish (we didn't hurt any of them - maybe they got some stomach aches from eating too much)

The purpose of this trip was to take our oldest to Montreat College for the first time. But, we are so glad that we worked in a few days on Lake Lure. The boys thought they were on a grand adventure the moment they climbed into the loft. The Point of View Restaurant has excellent food. There is also a park & hiking area on the other side of the lake by the beach. Great for the kids and free. We had agreat time. I'm sure we will return.

What an incredibly wonderful week we have had. Having explored the whole lake, this is undoubtedly the best spot. Just returned from a fabulous week at Lake Lure. We toured the whole lake by pontoon and agreed that our location at Papa Bob's was THE BEST! We thoroughly enjoyed the quiet cove and all the toys (kayaks, canoe etc.) but sitting on the dock watching the sunset was heavenly. The cabin is so cute and comfortable.
