  we stayed with 2 other couples for 2 nights. place is very nice and secluded. pretty much everything you need on hand! nice play to get away from the every day hustle and bustle! everyone in our group enjoyed it greatly! we look forward to coming back during summer months to enjoy the outside more.

  We recently stayed at the Lodge on Lake this past November. Hocking County ranks as one of the premier counties in the state of Ohio for trophy bucks harvested. The layout of the property is beautiful rolling hills with mature hardwoods. The deer population on this property will also not disappoint the avid hunter. What makes the stay on this property even more impressive is the actual lodge (which is an old barn). After a long day in the woods you can conveniently retreat into the comforts of your own home. From the large kitchen/dining table to the big screen TV to the hot tub on the deck with the majestic view of the lake and rolling hills....Lodge on the Lake offers everything you need for your next hunting trip. As far as the actual lake is concerned I can verify that it is full of fish so don't forget your fishing gear. We had a great stay at the Lodge on the Lake this past November. Even though we did not harvest a trophy buck during our stay in Ohio, I will absolutely be back next year. Finally, I also wanted to thank Darla for her hospitality. The level of customer service she provided to us was second to none. Thanks again for making this a memorable one. We cannot wait until November of 2012.

  I always wanted to do this: Have my family with me and have quiet days in a rustic cabin while we enjoyed Thanksgiving together in peace and quiet. It was wonderful! The Lodge at the Lake was terrific! The listing's description was accurate; just look at the pictures to get a sense of the peacefulness of the setting. Our family made use of the hot tub, the fire pit overlooking the pond, even the ping-pong table. The cabin had all the necessary basic utensils for cooking a complete turkey dinner. The loft bedroom was perfect for the kids. I would highly recommend this cabin!

  My family and I love to go to Hocking Hills in the fall for a long weekend just to relax and enjoy the fall foliage. Last year we stayed at Rustic Lodge, it was even more than we expected. The pictures of the lodge just do not do it justice. Boating, hiking, fishing and just relaxing around the campfire in the evening everyone felt such a sense of peace. We felt we were really in a secluded spot and yet if we neede anything, shopping was fairly close by. Everyone is looking forward to our next visit.

  Upon arrival, it was easy to see the benefits of this truly secluded lodge! We enjoyed our breakfast on the deck or in the gazebo every morning. Watching the deer stroll by, the birds flying overhead and even spotted some frogs and a turtle was a very tranquil experience! The beach area was very nice to sit out and enjoy the beautiful June weather while our sons LOVED the outdoor basketball court and indoor ping-pong table! The main area was open and very spacious, making it very comfortable for evening dinners and gathering area! The husband and sons caught several fish in the lake while I enjoyed reading a book! Just a very relaxing and natural setting to enjoy quality time with the family! We are looking forward to our next stay already! This Fall, we are coming back to Lodge on the Lake with our friends and booking zip-lining close by and canoeing on the Hocking River! Thanks for providing such a great place for us to enjoy getting out of the city! We never did get to walk the whole perimeter of the 103 acres you have there BUT we plan to next time! P.S. It was WONDERFUL there wasn't any WIFI or good cell phone reception! Uninterrupted quality time with the whole family was PRICELESS! No e-mail, no kids on facebook, no back and forth text and cell messages constantly with their friends! Reminded me of what vacations are suppose to be like when I was a child and technology did not take over ones lives!

  We had a great time at the Lodge on the Lake. It is a beautiful, relaxing place to be. The kids spent hours fishing, swimming and paddle boating. We didn't get to do much hiking. We only got to two of the caves, because the kids were having so much fun they did not want to leave Lodge on the Lake! The house was very clean and comfortable. We will definitely be back!

  Best features of this property - dog friendly and private pond! Our large group of family, friends, and dogs had a great time swimming, boating, and fishing. The two charcoal grills on the deck made it easy to cook for such a large group. Also, the location is great for getting to Hocking Hills attractions as well as Athens and OU. The kitchen is well stocked, but a little short on cutlery. The property manager was easy to get a hold of through email and by phone, but it will be virtually impossible to do that during your stay because the cabin gets almost no cell phone service and does not have internet access. I found the check out procedures to be somewhat vague (towels were supposed to go in “designated area,” but we could not find such an area, so we just left them in the laundry room hoping that would be ok). Also, while the lodge does sleep 14 (only 12 spots in beds though), there are only 2 bedrooms where only 4 people can sleep in privacy. The bedrooms are right off of the main living area, so even though they are private rooms, the occupants aren’t sheltered from much of the noise. The remaining occupants all sleep in an open loft. Overall, we had a fantastic weekend, but we thought the price was a little too steep in light of the sleeping arrangements.

Like most of the Hocking Hills region, cell phone service is spotty, but there is a landline with local number access in the lodge. Lodge on the Lake is a restored 1800s era barn, so it does have just the two private bedrooms and large loft area for the rest of your group to sleep, as described in the property description, virtual tour, and our website. Come relax at the 9 acre pond and over 100 acres of private land at Lodge on the Lake!
