Our group of ladies stayed at the Eagle's Nest this weekend for a scrapbook retreat. The owners were VERY accommodating and allowed us to use their large folding tables so everyone would have plenty of space to "crop." We had the best of both worlds, plenty of space to work on our projects and yet a homey - connected feel of being all in one place without anyone else around. We could sleep and relax when we wanted, be silly and loud if we desired, and didn't have to worry about our totes, bags, and scraps of paper intruding on anyone else's space. It was the perfect blend of getting lots of work done on our albums and having the time, space, and means to relax and enjoy ourselves. Home-cooked food for most of our meals in their awesome kitchen, the convenience of a great local restaurant (Cannova's) delivering to our door, close enough to visit Vinny Vannucchi's, The Galena River Wine and Cheese Shop, and many other great businesses in Galena, plus numerous table games in the rec room, a beautiful hot tub, and more space than you can imagine. The home is beautifully decorated, very clean, and really leaves you wanting for nothing more than perhaps more time stay and enjoy yourself. Our group has already booked another weekend and we can't wait to return! Thank you so much for all you did to make our weekend a great one! PS - the photos do not do justice to this property. If you are at all considering a stay at the Eagle's Nest, call the owners for a tour. It will take your breath away!

The house is simply spectacular for mutli-family gatherings. While the weather did not cooperate for snow sports, the house provided a picture-perfect winter retreat away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The historical town of Galena is just up the road and DuBuque is just about 25 miles away (very cool National River Museum). For those who like to gamble, there's even a casino on the Mississippi. The house construction and decor is first rate (they even provided Christmas decor). All of the families in our party LOVED their stay. Thanks for a wonderful getaway!

My group and I had an amazing time at the Eagle's Nest this past weekend. It is an ideal home for bringing a large group together for a luxury skiing trip. The home is in pristine condition with every attribute your heart could desire. We definitely plan on coming back!

Bill, Words cannot express how beautiful the Eagle's Nest is. Our family vacation was fabulous and only made more special by your home. Many memories were made and laughs shared during our stay. The game room saw its share of action well into the early hours of each morning, much to the glee of our youngest children! Our entire extended family loved the vacation and would love to return to the area and to the Eagle's Nest. Thank you for your hospitality and graciousness in answering all of our questions. P.S. The only suggestion we have is the addition of a ping pong table. We are an EXTREMELY competitive family! :)

This was our 5th year of celebrating our family christmas in this wonderful house. We have so many great memories from each year celebrated here. With a large family the space is great to accommodate all both young and old. The decorations always make it feel like we are home for the holidays!

From the day I first spoke with Bill, I was certain that this was where we should host our intimate family wedding. Over the next few months Bill and his wife helped me to create a warm, inviting, fun, unique wedding experience...my bridal party had a fantastic time in this huge space all by ourselves on Thursday night, then we were joined by our family of 50 guests for a beautiful ceremony on the main floor Great Room, afterward we partied down on the the lower level, which was perfect for a reception with it's open floor plan and built in bar! Over the weekend, we had our immediate family and wedding party stay in the house; everyone loved their rooms and felt like they were in a 4 star hotel but with the comfort and love of family! We woke up everyday to coffee and a huge kitchen to cook in and gather around. During the day we grilled on the expansive decks, took in the beautiful views, went on walks, played games with each other and enjoyed the game tables downstairs, plugged up a karaoke machine to the GIANT screen t.v. downstairs! The only disappointing thing was that this house was so beautiful and inviting that no one wanted to leave! Few of us got away long enough to visit downtown Galena, but if you had the time, there is also no end to all of the charming sites in that picturesque town. The wedding was truly splendid...I would have married my husband anywhere and my family would have had a blast anywhere, but I truly believe this house added a magical, extra special element to our time together. I would recommend this venue for any gathering, large or small, any time of year...it's beauty is not seasonal! Bill and Sue will do everything they can to make your stay enjoyable and all you will have to do is open the door, walk in and wait for the wonderful memories to begin!

We have 10 reviews in the first 5 months in our first year in business 2011. The reviews reflect our standards of superior service offering more value and impeccably clean homes. Many guests can be reluctant to write a review due to their busy schedules, we are very proud and thankful for those that were able to take the time to express their joyous stay. Thank you !! Have a great holiday season. Thank you Bill

This is the 3rd time I have held a team meeting at this house. It has every amenity one could ever wish for; allows for team building through the preparation of meals and allows for fun and relaxation in an absolutely gorgeous setting. The conference room is great and no one from the team has any desire to leave the house from the time thry arrive until it is time to depart.

As a meeting planner, I have reserved the house many times over the years for team meetings. It's like our own private hotel. While it does offer a conference room, we frequently utilize the other seating areas both in and outside the house for breakout sessions. The fully furnished kitchen promotes team building as we prepare our own meals; this also allows us to save expense dollars. The non-traditional meeting atmosphere at Eagle's Nest offers relaxation and comfort and seems to promote associate interaction and increased creativity.

This place is truly awe-inspiring. Not kidding. We had a huge family get-together there, with people coming in from all over the country. Since we had not seen the place before we arrived, we relied on the pictures and the owners' descriptions....both of which actually understated the elegance, beauty, and design of this lodge. Everything was in virtually perfect condition. The eight distinctive personal suites are as luxurious as anything we have ever stayed in. The main floor great room and huge deck have comfortable places for several small simultaneous conversation groups, and the downstairs bar and game room are amazing surprises. Honestly, it was hard to leave when our stay ended.

I had my wedding here last June. Everything was absolutely perfect! I couldn't have asked for a better location for such a special event. There are ideal places for a ceremony inside the home, but the weather was good so we had the ceremony outside. The trees and greenery on this property made a beautiful backdrop. Everything at this home was so pretty (inside and out), the photographer even asked if he could use pictures from our wedding on his website. We held the reception on the lower level of the house which worked out nice since there’s a large bar and plenty of room for the dance area, dj, and tables/chairs. The owners offer the option to rent tables and chairs from them which ended up being way more convenient and affordable than renting from anywhere else. The outdoor patio was convenient for people to step outside and not miss any of the party. All of our guests were very happy with the venue. There’s a big hot tub under a pretty gazebo. There is a walking path on the property. There are games to play (air hockey, pool, fooseball). There are big, comfy seating areas on every level of the home. There are 8 huge bedrooms all decorated to highlight activities common in the Galena area. There is even a laundry room. This place really has it all. We also rented the owners’ other house the weekend of our wedding and had family sleep there too. Both homes exceeded our expectations. The owners have a remarkable attention to detail and high standard for cleanliness. When I broke down the price per bedroom (and considered that there are 2 king beds in most of the bedrooms!) I realized this was a heck of a deal. Throw in the impressive quality with those figures, and this is really a bargain price for such a nice getaway. I can’t come up with any negatives to describe my experience at this home (or their other home). I’d recommend it for something as large and extravagant as a wedding or for something as small and informal as a fishing trip. The pictures are impressive, but they really don’t do the house justice. You’ll have to check it out yourself (but not on one of the days I’m renting it).

I stayed at this gorgeous home with my husband and 6 other couples. We absolutely loved it. None of us could get over how nice this house was. The bedrooms and bathrooms are beautifully decorated and there is a ton of room in each. We walked, golfed, played pool, played games, and each evening ended up in the hot tub. We all pitched in and cooked on the large, clean grill on the deck. We stayed 3 nights and none of us wanted to leave. Overall it was the best home we have ever rented.

We got married in the house on 3/15/2008, just after the house was finished. We got married at 9 pm in front of the fireplace on the main floor in complete candlelight while our guests watched from the balcony above. My guests said it was one of the most beautiful weddings they had ever attended. We hosted a dinner for our wedding party and their families in the basement bar area which was catered by a local caterer (and fabulous) and after the wedding we had a chocolate reception catered by Eagle Ridge Resort accompanied by chocolate cocktails on the main floor. It was unforgettable. Afterwards, our families stayed in their own rooms in the house while we had accomodations offsite. It was an amazing wedding ... an amazing day .... an amazing house!

I love this house! We held my mom’s surprise 50th birthday party here and boy was she surprised! The house was so spacious for all of our friends and family. Each of the 8 bedrooms was beautifully decorated and themed according to the many activities to see and do in the Galena area. The lower level of the house had entertainment for all ages including an air hockey table, pool table, foosball table, and a large bar area with lots of tables and chairs. There’s also a big screen TV and very comfortable couches that were great to have during our stay. We also used the large conference room as another big game room while we were there. My favorite amenity at this house was the large eight-person sized hot tub surrounded by a beautiful gazebo. I spent a lot of time relaxing there and found other quiet time walking along a walking path in a wooded area right off of the back of the house. It was obvious to me that the owners of the house take great pride in cleaning and maintaining this gorgeous house. The house met all of our expected needs and even some things that we hadn’t planned on like needing extra serving dishes and platters as well as using the washing machine and dryer! We had such an amazing time celebrating my mom’s 50th birthday at the Retreat House and cannot wait to spend more time there!
