I would highly recommend this property for a vacation rental. The home was clean, cozy, and provided everything we needed. We so enjoyed the French Broad river that provided constant background music! We actually spent most of our time on the deck. I must also mention that the beds were the best that my friend and I ever slept on away from home! Be sure and stop in at the Slide Rock Emporium for your shopping! They offered a unique selection of items, many of which were locally made. We enjoyed this store much more than any we saw in Asheville! The owner was great to get back to us when we had questions. This was a great place for two old friends to reconnect and spend hours talking on the deck. I can also imagine a family with children would also enjoy this property, with the river to play in, and a spacious area for fires and cooking out. My only recommendation would be a separate trash receptacle for recycling. I hope to come back with my family sometime!

We stayed at the creekside cabin for 3 days and 3 nights and we enjoyed every second! The cabin was better than described and was so quaint & comfortable. The best part was that it was RIGHT on the creek! We loved sitting on the deck and enjoying listening to the water. The fire pit and seating outside were great too. We had several campfires along the creek. The cabin itself was very clean and cozy. Its just a few minutes from Chimney Rock State Park, the cute downtown, and Lake Lure. We enjoyed all the attractions during the day and rested along the creek in the evenings. Perfect place! Jerry was very helpful and answered questions quickly. Highly recommend this place! We will definitely be going back :)

The beauty of the cabin is enhanced by the spectacular waterfalls in the creek, right outside the backdoor. Thank you for everything you did in preparation for our arrival! The cabin is our favorite place to be.

My family and I went up for the Thanksgiving holiday. I have to say the cabin was much more than I expected. It had a very homey feel to it.Not like just staying at someone else's place the way it normally does. Was great sitting on the porch in the morning and listening to the creek. Had company over and let the little ones cook hotdogs and somore's over open fire. Was far enough away to not be too far but also feel like you were in the country. My husband and I will be returning in the spring/summer to enjoy the warmer weather and do a little more sightseeing as unfortunately I was siick most of the stay.Again....would highly recommend to couples or families as it accomodated my huisband and I as well as our 3 grown kids!!!

This is really a wonderful place. I loved roasting marshmallows. Me and my brother loved playing in the creek and it was very fun and cold. Our family went to the Biltmore House and it was amazing. I got the most wonderful new stuff there. This place (Creekside Cottage) is very awesome. We really loved our stay here. This was our first stay in the area. We usually go to the beach for our anniversary but decided to do something different this year. Glad we did! This area is so beautiful. We checked out many of the waterfalls and Chimney Rock was 724 steps one too many but we made it! We are already making a list of things to do next time we are here. The cabin is so cozy and inviting we did not want to leave.

Excellent river access. Well stocked. Everything was as advertised. It was convenient to several attractions, including Chimney Rock, apple orchards. Biltmore, etc. We will definitely be looking to go back here again. The unit was clean and comfortable. Jerry was easy to get a hold of and genuinely interested in our experience. One note, there are several stairs inside the unit (two up to the bathroom and two down to kitchen) do you may want to take a gate or two if you are going with small toddlers. Only complaint was that there was no drain stop in the tub for the kids to take a bath (so could just shower) and water pressure was just ok.

Owner response: So sorry about the drain in the tub. We missed the fact that someone took the stopper for the drain. We got another one there now. The water pressure is like that here in the mountains. It is not as strong as one gets at lower elevations but it gets the job done. Take care and come back anytime. Smiles, Jerry

A real treat. Lots of mini-water falls on the creek. Spaced very well away from neighbors and a great campfire pit. Only Con is that the WiFi is not for serious usage (at present); bandwidth Okay for emailing, but if you are a filmmaker like myself you’ll have to put all that on hold (uploading, downloading, streaming movies) ;)

The cottage was everything it was described to be and more! It was very cozy and clean, smelled good, and was stocked with everything that was needed for the stay. The window units kept it more than cool. The side yard fire pit was great for a night of cooking hotdogs over the fire. It was easy to find but our GPS did not find it directly, Jerry gave great directions though. Jerry also asks you to call upon arrival to make sure that everything is ok. The best part of the cottage is the creek! It is right off the back porch and the sounds of the rushing water is beyond relaxing. It became habit to wake up in the mornings and head to the back porch for coffee, the creek, and the wildlife. One morning we watched a groundhog digging around. Ingles grocery store is a quick drive away and Lake Lure is always beautiful to tour or swim. There are plenty of close restaurants and small shopping stores, we also enjoy the off road fresh produce and got some good jams and dressings. Asheville is close by and the Biltmore is amazing. We traveled to Brevard for a day and enjoyed the downtown area as well as Pisgah Forest, looking glass falls, and looking at the free NC wildlife fish hatchery. I recommend going to Dupont State Forest and walking the trails for the waterfalls. Prepare for a good hike but the views and pictures are well worth it! Overall I have not one complaint. The cottage was just perfect and from the moment we arrived it felt like a home. We had a wonderful week and cannot wait to return! Thank you for letting us enjoy the cottage.

We had the pleasure of staying in the cottage for a week and we had an amazing time here. The cottage was perfect. It was quaint and cozy and felt like home. It was well stocked andhad everything we needed. We mostly enjoyed the creek and being outside. The views and sounds were very peaceful. We saw a cute scared groundhog and fed the small fish bread. The firepit area was also great. We cooked hotdogs over the fire. We spent a lot of wonderful time here. We also went to Brevard downtown and the Pisgah National Forest. We enjoyedthe waterfalls and a hike at Dupont State Park & Biltmore. A fantastic vacation. We will be back.

We spent our honeymoon here in this charming setting. So much to do and see without going too far from having our coffee on the porch in the morning to sitting by the camp fire at night. We truly had a sense of peace here. The scenery and the sounds of the creek provided a back drop of divine creation. We had everthing here we needed. Plan to return next year for our annhiversary. God Bless.

We loved the creek. It sure was nice to come into a cold place after driving with no ac. We were disapponted with Chimney Rock because some of the trails were closed but coming back here to the cottage and the creek made it all worthwhile. We wanted to stay another night but you guys didn't have an opening.

There are two good things I can say about this cottage and that is a great location and the creek . When we arrived the one window unit was off the house was HOT ! and it stayed that way the whole time . The 2nd bedroom is in the back of the house so it got no air at all and it stayed hot back there . The master bedroom on the front of the house got somewhat cool but at night when we closed the doors it was like an oven and the fan above the bed wobbled and made noise all night . We did open the window in the master bed but at about 7am tracker trailers speed up that road and woke us up . This is a main rd and the house is set pretty close to it but it was pretty . I'm not sure if we caught it on a bad week but the house was not clean at all . The microwave had crusted on food and the coffee maker had bugs in it and barely worked . The grill worked fine but did run out of gas . Whe we opened the back door to the porch we were greated with a wasp nest that we had to knock down . The bathroom is large but there is NO water pressure at all it was more of a trickle . We did enjoy the creek and the sound is soothing if not overwhelming . It is relaxing sitting by the firepit at night and was much cooler then sitting in the house . The oven worked ( did not use but turned on ) but it was dirty and caused a great deal of smoke through out the house . Windows are hard to open and master bedroom door got stuck shut and could not be reopened , we did get it opened after some heavy pushing . The location is great we went to asheville and hendersonville where there are great shops . The house is cute and water wonderful but very run down and unclean . Overall we had a good time when not inside . We did try to contact the owners twice , the first time there was no answer and the second just a recored message . There is no phone in the house but ther is internet . I can't recommend the house itself but can say the location ( other then the main rd ) is great . ps . To those with children , there is a water snake that lives on and under the rocks so be careful , this is not the owners fault I just wanted to give a heads up . We saw him everyday and the only problem was on the first day when we were sitting on the rock and he swam over my foot after that we just sat on a different rock and he left us alone .

Owner response: I am somewhat confused and dismayed regarding this guest review. Per our vacation rental agreement I do ask that guests contact me immediately if they have any concerns regarding the cottage. Why these guests chose not to leave a message about their perceptions of the property is difficult to understand. If one looks over all the reviews of this cottage, this review seems somewhat out of character from what other guests have experienced. I never received any message from these guests indicating that they were unhappy with the property. That being said, I will address each of the concerns specifically below: We have been having hot weather in the area and the housekeeper forgot to leave the air conditioner on after she finished cleaning. I am a putting a second air conditioning unit in the master bedroom this weekend since it appears that our summer is going to be much warmer than usual, even in the mountains. This is the first time anyone has mentioned that the fan in the master bedroom wobbled. I will be checking on this immediately. Again, if I was made aware of this it could have been addressed in a timely manner. The house sits on a two lane road that runs through Hickory Nut Gorge. It is a beautiful drive and NOT a main road, since it is very twisting and turning with a major elevation gain over the course of three miles. I use a housekeeping service that over the past two years has been extremely reliable and dependable. I pride myself on keeping all rooms in the cottage, especially the kitchen clean and fresh. Again, if I were called about this issue, which we ask guests to do within the first hour, this concern would have checked out and addressed immediately, if appropriate. The propane grill has an extra tank of gas sitting right next to it since you can rarely predict when a tank will run out. I don’t understand how that could have been missed. There have been several sets of guests staying in the cottage immediately before these and no one reported any issues about a wasps nest either in their review or by phone. I know that they can build these fairly quickly, but again I was not notified about this concern. No one in four years has ever complained about windows being hard to open, the master bedroom door getting stuck, or water pressure being low These issues will be checked out this weekend after our current guests checkout. This house sits on a beautiful creek and many kinds of wildlife come and go,

This property is absolutely stunning! The cottage is the perfect size, with a spacious use of common area and down-home decorating, and the surrounding yard is gorgeous. I hadn't expected the creek to have such an imposing presence in the backyard, and its sound lulled us to sleep each night. The side yard is what really set it off for us. The fire pit, swing and hammock, with a sandy walk into the water between rapids -- it was all perfect! We'll definitely be back again and again!

We enjoyed our stay at the Chimney Rock Cottage ,during our three night stay in the Hickory Nut Gorge area,so much that we were wishing we could have stayed longer. It felt like home from the moment we walked in. We appreciated all the conveniences such as the use of the washer & dryer after a day of wet & muddy hiking, access to internet and the Direct TV. The cottage was very clean and well maintained. They are well stocked with plenty of blankets & towels. The owners have thought of everything! On arrival, we did drive right by the house because the cottage looks yellow in the photos but was actually beige. Our GPS wouldn't accept BAT CAVE, NC so we used the village of Chimney Rock as the location and it guided us right there. The location is very convenient to several restaurants in Chimney Rock Village and Lake Lure. We enjoyed the beautiful Chimney Rock State Park . Unfortunately we couldn't see all the park has to offer because areas were still closed as they make improvements. It was still worth the visit for the easy hike to a great waterfall and the beautiful view. We took an hour drive one day to hike in Dupont State Forest with it's many amazing waterfalls. Then drove eight miles beyond to Caesar's Head State Park just over the South Carolina state line. Spectacular view! This cottage makes an extremely comfortable home base in this beautiful area of NC. I would highly recommend it. The only problem I can see anyone having here is getting people to ever leave the deck, with the beautiful sound & view of the waterfalls in the creek just feet away, to go sightseeing. We would love to come back here, someday.....and stay for at least a week! Thank you to Colette for helping with the reservation details.

This is truly a lovely cottage, so peacefull and private. My husband and I stayed overnight with our two grown daughters and we all loved it there. Had everything we needed and Chimney Rock was just a mile or so away for all the shopping and meals you could want. You have to try Riverwatch Cafe, chicken, burgers and BBQ cooked on an open grill you can see them cooking, and wonderful desserts, too! Back to the best part, the cottage, it is so welcoming and cozy we wanted to stay longer. The fire from the wood stove made it extra special. Well equipped kitchen, and very clean. Had one complaint and it was resolved, thank you Jerry :-) Hope to take our grandchildren next summer. Would definitely recommend you check out this cottage if you want to spend quality time with your family and draw closer to God, I know we felt His presence of peace there.

This property is the Greatest! We really enjoyed the house and the property. We wanted it again this year but it was unavailable. I am writing this review because as I was looking at it to re-rent and remembering all the fun, I saw an unfavorable review. When we were here this house was SPOTLESS, and comfortable. The creek is beyond wonderfull and when it rained and the creek grew- so did the waterfall and it was AWESOME--we sat on the porch and watched the rain and the creek. Coffee on the porch in the morning was great, as were the visiting birds. We caught a fish right off the porch! (lic available in Lake Lure) the nearby towns are great as was the waterfall visable from town after the rain. There is lots to see in the towns nearby. All the pictures accuratly portray this house. the only thing is the water pressure could be better-but we are in the mountains! I would re rent this house in a HEARTBEAT!

After a crazy busy summer we are so glad to have found Creekside. We are fortunate our kids still like to vacation together as a family. This place was exactly what we needed (understatement). Chimney Rock was our scheduled adventure for rock climbing. After 4 hours plus of rock climbing with a fox mountain guide at Chimney Rock, Creekside was the perfect ending to an amazing first day. We headed to Lake Lure the next day and decided we really just wanted to hand out at the cottage. We definitely want to return for another visit and it is such a peaceful escape. The creek's babbling waters are absolutely an attraction for all ages. I say this as my husband and I watch our kids 11-19 yrs of age catch fish with a butterfly net from the balcony deck.

My wife and I spent out first anniversary at Creekside Cottage. Our time there was amazing! We truly hated to leave. As others have posted in these comments, we spent most mornings out on the porch with a cup of coffee enjoying…everything! From the misty mornings, to playing in the creek, to watching hawks and butterflies – it was a fantastic time! Enjoyed some time around the fire in the evenings and loved sleeping with the sound of the rushing waters in the background. Our anniversary couldn’t have been any better! Book now, you won’t regret it!

W had a wonderful stay at Creekside Cottage! We had such a nice vacation here! We enjoyed Chimney Rock, Sliding Rock, Biltmore House and Black Mountain. The kids loved playing in the creek! The Lake Lure boat tour was fun also. We lived each day here to it's fullest and we were glad to come home to Creekside Cottage at the end of each of our adventures. Thank you for a very comfortable stay! Mederia's Bistro "great food"

There are many reasons we love Creekside Cottage. We love the back deck and sitting/resting area near the creek. Watching and feeling the sunrise along with drinking coffee quickly became our morning routine. We also enjoyed the Lake Lure Golf course and were surprised to learn about the beautiful walking/running trails next to it. It was hard to believe we were the only ones out there. Twenty five minutes from Asheville, fishing in the lake, touring, and having delicious ice cream in downtown Chimney Rock were all fantastic experiences. Thank you ande hope to be back!

Thank you so much for sharing this precious cottage with us. It was such a nice break from the stress of everyday life. Listening to the waterfalls, enjoying hotdogs and marshmallows by the fire and walking in the water were wonderful. I think the cottage should be named Creekside Dream Cottage. Thanks!

For those looking for a relaxing get away and who love the outdoors this is the place for you! Our 3 yr. old son was convinced this was a magical place and living vicariously through him my husband and I also felt the magic! We loved the layout of the cottage, the creek is awesome, the decor is whimsical, and the lightening bugs put on a wonderful light show every night! Great place to make lasting memories! Might I suggest you visit the waterfalls at the Dupont State Forest absolutely beautiful and not too far from the cottage!

I almost hate to recommend it because I don't want anyone else to know about it. The setting is spectacular and we spent many hours in the stream and exploring the property. The cabin was well equipped and the owner was very prompt in coming over to address an issue with the wireless connection. We definitely will be back.

What more can we say, but thank you! This cottage was an instant hit for us- it felt just like home. It was a beautiful way to begin our life together. May God Bless you and yours and this enchanted area. “All thing come together and a river runs through it” We assumed McClane was in Montana when he wrote this – perhaps it was by this creek where he truly was!
