We visited the area with our 2 1/2 and 5 year old boys and the house was exactly what we were looking for: clean, comfortable, has a fireplace, snow, up-to-date furnishings and appliances. When on a vacation to see the snow I want to be able to look out the window and see a beautiful snow scene, while sitting on a clean couch the I can snuggle into, while feeling the heat and seeing the glow of a fireplace fire, while, also, using the wi-fi to watch a movie through our Netflix.... This is exactly what we did!!! Although, I very much enjoyed the 1,000 piece puzzle my husband and I did on the kitchen's breakfast bar during our stay. We enjoyed it so much, we spontaneously stayed another night and bought provisions for dinner in the Shingletown Market. Note that there are very few restaurants in the area and Mount Lassen is VERY much closed on the north side during the winter months, but this remoteness is very relaxing... Truely a breath of fresh air! I would 100% recommend this spot and would very much like to return to it in the summer months to see Mount Lassen. Final note: Rebecca had the house heated, and the lights on, and freshly baked bread ready for our arrival.... Felt very inviting.

We are a family of four and have traveled the world. We have never been so happy with a VRBO booking as we are with Lakeview Cottage. We so enjoyed our three nights in the snow, after a very busy holiday season. We were able to go sledding at Eskimo Hill, take long walks down the road, enjoy good home-cooked meals and hang out by the fire while playing monopoly. We don't like the traffic and crowds of the Tahoe area. Lassen is a hidden gem. We will be returning to another property with friends and family this summer!

This home was very nice and well maintained. The owners were very friendly and I loved that they welcomed our pets. Although there was no power when I arrived (not their fault) they had the woodstove going to make the home warm for my arrival. The only thing missing was some measuring cups and a few larger mixing spoons. My daughter did try to watch a movie, but quite honestly we couldn't figure out how to use the TV/DVD player. There were 4 remotes sitting on the TV stand and no instructions. That was ok for us since we don't usually watch TV while on vacation anyway. Plenty of snow to play in that day. For future guests though, written instructions taped to inside of cabinet mght be nice.

We spent a week in this wonderful home and still wish we were there! The kitchen is huge and fully stocked with everything you need to cook (or nuke) all your meals. Since it was winter, we didn't spend time on the decks, but we hiked around the lake and it was lovely. We kept the fireplace going although the heaters kept the home toasty warm. Very peaceful quiet area. Lots of big trees and nature. Mt Lassen entrance is 10 minutes away.

We recently took a last minute trip to Lassen and we're lucky enough to stay at the Lakeview Cottage. It is a wonderful house (not really a "cottage") and is very well appointed and cozy. We arrived in a full blizzard and enjoyed the warmth of the wood burning stove, fresh baked bread and flannel sheets! The house is in a great location, within minutes of the park. The owner is a joy to work with. We'll be back (forever!).

My husband and I enjoyed a 4 day weekend at the cottage and had a simply marvelous time. From the first "Oh how pretty," of the geraniums on the porch, to the "Ahhhh, sigh," as you walk through the door to the smell of bread baking, and soak in the lovely rustic decor. Everything about the place is beautifully done, peaceful, and relaxing. AND we caught trout in the lake right across the road!! We definitely will return-hopefully with family next time! :) I check-marked "people with disabilities" in the "recommended for" section, thinking of my mom, who uses a walker. Though the cottage has steps going up to the front door, the driveway is such that you can pull a car around to the side door where I think there was one step. There is also one small step from that entryway into the kitchen. One of the bathrooms has a shower w/out tub that she could use w/ help. So, although it is not "accessable" in the sense of unassisted accessability, if you have someone like my mom with you that needs a lil help, I think they would enjoy :) And of course it is also very close to Lassen and all it's wonders!!

Just came back from a four day stay in Lassen. It is later in the season and there was virtually no crowds at all. We really enjoyed Bumpass Hell, Subway Cave, and Burney Falls. The location of the cabin makes it really easy to get to the parks especially on the north side. Don't miss lunch at JJ's cafe. Surprisingly good food in a very small kitchen. We ate breakfast and dinner at the cabin and the kitchen was plenty big enough for 2 people to work. The cabin is very "rustic" which some in the group didn't mind and some of us really enjoyed. The best thing about the cabin is the lake across the street. It is stocked with trout and I don't think we have ever caught so many trout. They were so delicious. After the third day, I was honestly kind of sick of eating trout. Bring your rod and power bait worked great. My kids spent ally afternoon catching frogs and I got to fish! My wife and parents-in-law just read by the lake and watched the sun set over the trees.

We had a great time at this lovely cottage. At the end of the week we were well rested and very satisfied that we made the correct decision to vacation there. The cottage was well supplied with everything necessary to entertain and cook.. We spent most of our cottage time out on the front deck. The cottage was clean, neat and orderly. When we walked in the front door the freshly baked bread was a welcoming treat that was as tasty as it smelled. We enjoyed sightseeing and fishing from Whiskey Town Lake to Lake Britton, Hat Creek, Burney Falls, Brokeoff Meadow and Mt. Lassen itself. The location is prime for educational value for children to adults. I highly recommend this cottage as a vacation spot for everyone.

Stayed here with my husband and two daughters (ages 14 and 16) for five nights. We stopped at the Costco and Trader Joe's in Redding to pick up our food for the stay, which worked out great. It was really nice to have such a quiet and comfortable place for breakfast and dinner, and spend the day out and about the park. We especially liked Butte Lake for kayaking (we brought our own) and swimming, and the Cinder Cone hike is a must. It's well worth the extra drive. Also hiked Bumpas Hell to Kings Creek, and explored Subway Cave and Burney Falls. A good time was had by all. We would definitely recommend this place to others!

My husband and two daughters (ages 12 & 16) stayed here for 3 nights in August. The house was perfect. Better then the photos even. We hiked in lassen every day. The girls spent hours catching frogs at the small lake in front of the house. The house had everything we needed for making great meals. The beds were extremely comfortable. It was very clean and the owners were very helpful. I would definitely stay here again but next time I will try to stay longer. There is so much to do in this area.
