The Lassen cottage was a much needed escape into a winter paradise. My two kids, my wife and myself were sad as we packed our car and jumped back into reality. We even considered starting an "Occupy Lassen" movement....just joking. The house has hours of great movies, music, comfortable beds and everything you would expect to find in an occupied home. It is located within 10 minutes to the Lassen Ranger station and offers hours of cross country skiing adventures. We stayed two nights and it snowed on both of the nights. Rebecca and Bob went out of there way to ensure our stay was complete. When we showed up they provided two sleds for the kids, fresh baked bread and a crock pot I inquired about. They exceeded all our expectations and we will be returning this summer. Thank you again for the great weekend-

It's hard to put into words what a great time we had at the Lakeview Cottage. The house was absolutely beautiful and impeccably clean. We were greeted by fresh baked bread and jam upon our arrival, with a roaring fire crackling in the wood stove. It set the perfect cozy and relaxing tone for our weekend! The cottage is in a gorgeous setting, and is incredibly well-appointed with everything that you would need to make it your home away from home. There were so many little touches that set the Lakeview Cottage apart from other houses we've rented in the past. The soft fleece sheets on the luxurious pillow top beds, and the personalized welcome sign by the driveway are just a few examples of how the owners put a lot of thought into how to make your stay a great one. From our first inquiry email, Rebecca and Bob were warm, helpful, and an absolute pleasure to work with. We have two young children, and the house was perfect for them - safe, spacious, and kid friendly. Our three-year-old couldn't stop talking about how much fun he had on our drive home. We can't wait to return to the Lakeview Cottage!

This house is one of those great surprises that actually is even better than its pictures: clean and well appointed, comfortably furnished. The kitchen has everything anyone's likely to need for meal preparation. The setting is beautiful and it's proximity to the Park makes it an ideal location for daily visits. Very reasonably priced for what it offers. Highly recommended.

This quiet home with all the comforts and amenities is a perfect launching point for daily activities in Lassen Nat'l Park. The kitchen is perfect for making meals in, outside dining on the front deck and a propane bar-b-cue. The woodstove kept the house nice and cozy. We found hiking in the park amazing with long periods of quiet solitude; our hikes included Lassen Peak, Broke-off Mt, Ridge Lakes Trail, Sifford Lakes Trail to Kings Creek Falls, Mill Creek Falls, Cinder Cone and Painted Dunes Trail and of course the Bumpus Hell trail is a must. The kayacking on Manzanita Lake was relaxing with a chance encounter with a river otter! The wildlife was bountiful; lots of deer, flickers, woodpeckers and mountain blue birds. It was wonderful to come back to a quiet and comfortable bed. The cottage was very clean and felt like home. Rebecca & Bob were very knowledgeable about the area and helpful with suggestions for hikes. Our vacation was perfect from beginning to end!

Comfortable Cottage Near North Entrance to Lassen Volcanic National Park

We spent four nights at the Cottage, Aug 22-25th, 2011. We found everything as described and shown in photos, and there were even more good things to discover. Outdoors, there is a hammock and picnic table, fire pit and chairs to relax in. Our purpose was to spend all daylight hours in the National Park and return to the cottage at dusk. The location is perfect for this. We had breakfast in the cottage, packed a lunch to eat in the Park, and returned to cook a simple meal and enjoy our dinner on the deck. The cottage is large enough for two couples or a family, with bedrooms and full bathrooms at opposite ends of the large living and kitchen area. Each room has framed prints and charming wood furniture and decor. Very much the atmosphere of a small mountain resort. Preparing our meals in the well-equipped kitchen was a pleasure, and everything in the cottage is clean and very well maintained. Our conversations with the owner were very convivial and most helpful. We would definitely return, and have already recommended the cottage to friends.

From the personalized sign outside to the fresh bread inside we knew this was going to be a great place. Then to find the beer glasses already in the freezer---well what more could you ask for. Just a few minutes to Lassen, the location is also wonderful. This house was great, better than you can tell from the photos. Very welcoming, and Rebecca was great to deal with. We'll stay there again if we have the chance.

AMAZING, AMAZING, AMAZING. From the time that we entered the cottage, we know that we were home. The owners posted our family name at the entrance to the property which we found very welcoming. The screen door was unlocked as we walked up onto the deck and the aroma of fresh baked bread filled the home. The owners have put a lot of thought and planning into this cottage, lots of vintage collectables and art. This was our first road trip with our newborn (2 weeks old) she slept well in the mountains and we were able to get caught up on our much need rest. We found the beds to be very comfortable and the cottage clean and fresh. We stayed close to the cottage and enjoyed the surroundings. There is a small lake right out the front door that we fished in. The Park is less than 10 minutes away. We hiked around Lake Manzanita. We were amazed at how few people were on the trail. We would love to return next year.

As a vrbo first timer, I am new to the whole process. From my first email inquiry about the property to the last email after I returned home, the experience has been wonderful. Rebecca was quick to answer all questions. The house was clean and photos/descriptions were accurate. Policies, expectations and procedures were clearly spelled out. We enjoyed a visit to the Wild Horse Sanctuary in Shingletown and biking around the cottage. We spent a day hiking Bumpass Hell and kayaking Manzanita Lake in Lassen National Park (kayaks can be rented). Roasting marshmallows in the fire pit at the cottage was a hit with the kids. All in all it was an enjoyable 3 days and I would definitely recommend this owner/property to a friend. If I ever return to the Lassen area, I would rent from them again without hesitation.

I can not say enough about what a nice rental this is. I have used homeaway rentals all over the country, and for many years, and this was by far the cleanest and most delightfully decorated of them all. The area is filled with wonderful streams and lakes and the pine scented air was intoxicating. I will remember the beautiful star filled sky, the roaring campfire, the bull frogs croaking, and the overall peace of this place. Thank you for sharing this mountain gem. Oh and of coarse the fresh baked bread as you first enter the place, what a wonderful surprise! Bravo....
